Chapter 3

Luca's bodyguards jumped off the bus with ruffles in their hands, hurrying into Kia's house. They all wore ear huggers and took directions from Omar.

"The door had been locked with a password," Wyatt, the leader, informed Omar.

"Wait a minute," Omar said and quickly hacked the password.

The door opened, and Luca's bodyguards flicked in, still taking direction from Omar. Lucas then came out of the bus with a hardened face. His pistols were in his pocket.

Lucas walked into the house as soon as gunshots filled the air. Kai had taken five bodyguards down already before one shot his legs and arms since Lucas want him alive.

Kai fell, and his gun dashes towards Lucas.

Lucas smirked as he picked up Kai's gun. "Thought my gun would teach you how to die. It's so relieving that your gun betrays you and comes to me as you betrayed me."

Two of Lucas's bodyguards pouched on Kai's stomach and forced him to kneel before Lucas.

At the moment Lucas smirked, Kai's phone rang on the bed. Lucas stared at the caller. It was a private number calling. Lucas then answered the call.

"Is it true you are alive?" Lucas asked.

Silence passed for three seconds before Johnny say something.

"Please, don't harm Kai."

Lucas laughed hysterically. "What a boy! Who teaches you how to beg?"

"I will give you everything I have. There are many gold you don't steal that day you killed my father. I will give you everything."

Lucas looked at Kai. "How did he know that I took his father's gold when you don't even know?"

Lucas's second phone rang, and he quickly answered it because it was Omar calling him.

"Run, run, boss. A speeding car would soon get there. I could tell by the way the masked man drives the car, you need a hundred bodyguards to take him down."

Lucas dashed out with his surviving bodyguards. And they left before Johnny reached Kai's house.

Johnny jumped out of the car without waiting for the car to stop. He hurried into Kai's room.

"Kai! Are you alright?"

"Did I look like I was fine?" Kai pointed to his wounds.

Johnny took out a knife and removed the bullets inside Kai's legs and arms, while Kai groaned in pain.

"You impressed me today," Kai said, giggling. "How could they cope with your presence when they fear your coming?"

"Is that what's important now? The motherfucker dare to shoot you and you are still laughing." Johnny dropped the knife and kicked the dead bodyguards.

"Don't take off your mask. They're watching closely." Kai couldn't stop giggling.

"From where?" Johnny glanced around. "Someone hacked your surveillance cameras."

Johnny took a car key from the bed, and carried Kai to his shoulder, heading out

"Put me down," Kai said.

"You are not safe here." Johnny laid Kai inside Kai's car and drove him to the hospital.

Kai had lost consciousness before Johnny reached the hospital, and it got Johnny even more mad. His spirit yearned to slaughter Lucas after he blamed himself for putting his phone in silence mode.

Johnny then changes his phone mode to vibration. Not long after his phone vibrate, it was Chaya calling.

"Thought she had slept," he said to himself before answering the call.

"My grandpa is taking me away, Johnny!" Chaya cried. "Leave me alone. Let me talk to him."

"Chaya..." The call was hung up. Johnny redialed Chaya's number, but her phone was switched off.

Letting out a heavy sigh, Johnny went to see the Doctor first.

"Hope my Kai would be alright?" Johnny asked the doctor.

"Sure. He would regain his consciousness after some hours," Doctor Alicia said.

"Be specific."

"Three hours."

"Thanks." Johnny walked to the street, stopped a taxicab, and went to the old Mr. Patterson's mansion.

He had no intention of marrying Chaya, but he wants to be sure she was fine. The guards stopped Johnny and had to receive permission from the old Mr. Patterson for Johnny to enter before they allow him to step in.

"Johnny!" Chaya was stopped by the bodyguards from reaching him.

"You still have the guts to come?" Logan threw his phone at Johnny, but Johnny grabbed the phone swiftly when he was still staring at the floor.

Logan laughed and looked at Grandpa. "Do you see that? I don't know he has that skill. I will see if you will grab this one, too."

Logan took a glass cup off the table and threw it towards Johnny, and when the cup was about to hit his head, Johnny grabbed it without raising his head.

"Woo-hoo!! He grabbed the cup too." Logan collected his phone and the cup back cheerfully.

Logan then knocked on Johnny's head. "Why don't you tell me you have that superb skill?"

"Does that settle the case now?" Mr. Patterson asked Logan.

The cheerful smile on Logan's face faded, and he quickly sat down beside Eliza, feeling embarrassed.

"You still have the guts to come?" Logan rose again.

"May I speak, please?" Mr. Patterson stared at Logan's awkward face, and make Logan sit back in silence.

Mr. Patterson then looked at Johnny. "Mr. James Bond, may I ask why you are here?"

Johnny lowered his head. "I come for Chaya."

"Who are you to come for her?"

"I'm nothing. I'm sorry. If you show me mercy and allow me to go back home, I would never come for her."

"Johnny, what are you saying?" Chaya struggled to free herself from the bodyguards, but couldn't.

"You don't love our Chaya, but she loves you to the point of trying to hurt herself because of you. You are a cunning, poor man. You already know we can't afford to see Chaya hurt herself once you left.

"I won't let you go just like that. As the head of Patterson's family, I will allow you to marry Chaya on one condition. And the condition was very simple.

"I give you 365 days to pay a dowry of 5,000,000 dollars. This will show us how much you love Chaya. It would also make Chaya feel how much you love her."
