Arthur repeated himself, giving her another chance. ‘Is the manager around? I want to deal directly with him.’

Martha chuckled. ‘There’s no manager but me, and as I already told you, the only position available is the office assistant role. It’s a new role, and I am certain you will like it.’

The sales manager rubbed his chin, moving away from Martha. ‘He’s not here for a job, like I stated earlier. Boss specifically stated that I attended to him immediately when he got here.’

‘And I told you, it must be a mistake! I know Arthur from a former company. He can’t afford this vehicle. He’s probably joking or...’ Her eyes glowed. ‘Are you running an errand for your employer?’

Arthur shook his head. It was obvious she wasn’t aware of his twist of fate. He had wasted enough time here and proceeded to dial the manager’s number, Mr. Vidal.
