Chapter 9: The Contest

"Well, I don't think there would be any need to sanction you. In the real sense, you rescued me from that brutal slut," Richmond revealed with an air of authority.

At the sound of this, Mrs. Juliet lets out a sigh of relief. She could never imagine leaving that prestigious company at someone else's mistake.

"Thank you, sir," she appreciated from the dept of her heart.

"Please have your seat," Richmond said gesturing to the seat before him.

Miss Juliet slowly took her seat on the chair. The new manager wasn't as terrible as had thought.

"So what're your new directives for the company sir," Juliet inquired.

Richmond drew a deep breath before proceeding to answer this question.

He wished he could look into her eyes and tell her the truth but it would make him look like a psychopath.

He wished he could make her an accomplice in this battle against his blood.

He had just one directive and one drum to beat. And that was the drum of revenge.

He was going to use this new position to take his revenge on all those that had ever made him shed tears, especially all who had a hand in his mother's death through their cruelty.

And for this mission to be fulfilled, he needed his identity to be properly sealed from the general public.

"I want you to continue taking care of the company in my place. I can see that you are already doing a good job and for that, you will be receiving a promotion," Richmond revealed.

Miss Juliet could not believe her ears and her jaw dropped. She was expecting her boss to fire her just a few minutes ago but here he was, giving her a promotion.

"Thank you very much, sir," She appreciated.

Richmond tried hard to remember what he wanted to get more information about, the first time he walked into the company.

Then, his mind went back to the two fools that had insulted him when he approached his company.

His face disappeared into a hateful grin as he remembered the insult they rained on him.

Now, it was his turn to frustrate their mission in his company by randering it null and void.

"For a start I noticed the son-in-law to be of one Mr. Steven, here this morning. Do you by any means know why he was here?" Richmond inquired.

Miss Juliet knew who Richmond was talking about and she wondered what he wanted to do with him.

Whatever it was, she just prayed he had not also insulted the new manger because he was oddly dressed like the unfortunate security officer.

"He is a senior staff of this company," Juliet replied.

Richmond was shocked to hear this. He certainly could not believe that David made all his money as a worker in his company.

That could only mean that the company paid a lot of money to its staff.

"What's his pay," Richmond inquired.

"Half a million dollars for senior staffs," miss Juliet replied. "He came here this morning to ask for an advance payment to settle a pressing need but before I can do that, I need your signature sir," she noted.

Richmond's jaw dropped at the mention of such a large sum. If the company could pay such an amount of money, that could only mean that its owner would be a multi-trillionaire

A smile hovered on his face as a thought ran through his mind. He was going to turn the table around against that proud slut.

"Well there will be no need to get any signature from me, he his already fired," Richmond announced with a hateful grin on his face.

"Consider it done sir," Miss Juliet replied solemnly.

She wondered if David had also offended her new boss just like the stupid security officer that morning.

As they continued to discuss, Richmond's tattered phone began to beep.

He picked up the phone immediately and noticed that it was Michael.

He wondered why he would be calling at that time when he had already informed them that he was going to be having a meeting with somebody.

"Richmond, where are you," Michael inquired from the other end.

The sound of his voice made Richmond quake with fear. Something was wrong somewhere but what could it be?

"You have to start coming home right this minute, there is trouble," Michael replied.

Hearing this made Richmond's heart quake with fear. What exactly was happening to him?

"What is it," he tried to inquire but Michael ended the call.

Michael was so frightened that he shivered absently in his seat and miss Juliet could not help but notice.

"What's happening sir," she inquired with a worried expression on her face.

"I Will have to go now, it is very urgent," Richmond replied.

Later that day, Richmond walked beside John and Michael to his dormitory.

He still could not believe that Michael pulled him out of a very important meeting because of a test that still didn't hold.

The fact that he was now a multi-billionaire still beats his imagination. He had never expected a total turn around within such a short period.

As they walked, Michael noticed a postal on the wall of the admin building.

As usual, he stopped immediately to read through it.

As he read through it, his face brightened and he screamed with joy.

"Oh my God! How did I miss such vital information," he exclaimed.

"What are you staring at again," Richmond inquired.

"It's postal, the big student's night held bi-annually," Michael announced almost in a whisper.

John and Richmond held their breaths as he said this. The party was a general school party where the richest displayed their wealth and a winner was picked for the party to be the school king or queen for one year.

Richmond's heart pounded hard against his chest as a wide range of possibilities crossed his mind.

He had always wanted to be the winner of this great event someday and that day had finally come.

He was going to show everyone that he was no longer the poor ass that they knew him to be.

He had totally forgotten about his promise to keep his identity away from the public.

"I cross that bridge about revealing my identity when the time comes," he smiled to himself.

"This way too much to miss," he thought.

"Who do you think will win this year's big student's challenge?" John inquired.

"I know Richmond's former or supposed girlfriend would want to win the contest by all means as her second year in school, basically to increase her popularity," John revealed.

At this, Richmond placed two and two together and he arrived at a deadly truth. This was the reason Williams came to take a advance payment that morning. He was doing it for Tina.

"Let's see how the richest get disgraced and the poorest get uplifted," Richmond thought with a dark smile.

"What's making him to smile?" Michael inquired.

"How about I win the contest," Richmond proposed.

At this, his friends burst into laughter. They could not even think of winning the contest talk less of a broke ass like Richmond.

"How can you ever think of winning such a big contest Richmond? You never seems to amaze me," John laughed heartyly.

"I know where he can win the contest, in his dreams," Michael laughed with tears already falling from his eyes.

Their mocking laughter made Richmond foam gradually with anger. He was going to give them the biggest shock of their lives by going to the stage and winning that contest.
