CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

“There’s not enough time to dwell on the fact that there’s no seeable escape route. We have to do something about that fire. It’s already spreading to the second floor of the motel”

The group Caleb had sent upstairs – Dexter and Anastasia confirmed that.

“How about we call the fire fighters?” suggested Dexter.

“That sounds like a good idea. Let’s just pray that they come and actually help us instead of acting like those stupid police officers” Anastasia commented crossing her arms over her chest.

“What if they can’t help us break down the door too?” Wallows, the frightened man said.

“Can you please be positive?” Derrick asked staring at the older man “We’re all trying to actually survive if you didn’t know”

“Where’s the phone we used earlier?” Caleb asked looking around.

A young girl stepped out putting her pink sparkly phone into Caleb’s outstretched hand.

“Thank you” he uttered sliding the phone into his other hand.

Mr. Alfred watched the scene with a familiar warm feeling bloom
