CHAPTER 7

Chapter 7:

Luke left the designer clothing store feeling satisfied with his purchases. As he made his way through the mall, he couldn't help but notice the shocked faces of the people passing by. He knew he must have looked out of place, wearing his old clothes and carrying designer shopping bags. The people around really looked at him and starts to wander how he was even allowed in there and how possible he was able to cater for all the bills.

As he approached the exit, a man in a suit rushed up to him, looking flustered. "Excuse me, sir," the man said. "May I have a word with you?"

Luke nodded, curious. "What is it?"

The man looked around nervously before continuing. "I couldn't help but notice the card you used to make your purchases," he said, gesturing to the VIP credit card. "It has a very distinct mark on it."

Luke raised an eyebrow, wondering where this was going. "Yes, and?"

"Well, you see," the man stammered, "this mall is actually under the control of your family group. I'm the manager here, and I'm afraid I wasn't aware that you would be shopping here today." The manager then started to apologize on behalf of his staff if anything had gone wrong when he entered to shop.

Luke couldn't help but feel a small sense of satisfaction at the manager's discomfort. "I see," he said calmly. "Is there a problem?"

The manager shook his head quickly. "No, no problem at all. I just wanted to apologize for any inconvenience and return your card to you personally." He held out the card with a trembling hand.

Luke took the card and smiled. "Thank you for your concern," he said before walking out of the mall.

The guy in suit had really seen the symbol on the card and got frightened, he thought he would loose his job with any slight mistake from the workers.

On the next day he had heard rumors about the old shop attendant sacked due to the way she acted towards Luke and the younger one being promoted to have the position that the old one was holding. I was also told that he really scolded her and made he feel for how she treated me.

The old shop attendant really needed a rest for he was off age to work in such a place,he had reached menopause and needed to rest from that work.

The middle aged lady and her lover were also banned for stepping their foot again at the premises for they appeared to be rich but could not afford anything at the mall.

The Table had turned then, I was mistook to be done poor dude and got to the point of blocking my way in, I happened to be the one who was able to cater for the bills. But on the other those that presented themselves as rich people were thrown out from the mall. Luke did not feel happy about all those happenings but he felt they should really learn something for not always judging a book by its cover.

As he drove back to campus in his new car, he couldn't stop thinking about the encounter. It was strange to think that he now had control over things he never even realized before. He couldn't help but feel a little excited at the prospect of what else he might discover.

But as he approached the campus, his thoughts turned to Nina. He hadn't seen her since their encounter in the coffee shop, and he couldn't stop thinking about her. As he turned a corner, he saw her walking ahead of him. He pulled over and called out to her.

"Nina!" he said, waving her over. "Get in, I'll give you a ride."

Nina looked hesitant, but eventually climbed into the car. "Thanks," she said, glancing at the car's interior in awe. She really looked amazed, where on earth did this guy appear suddenly driving in this expensive car, not long ago he was humiliated fir dropping his ex-wife at campus with an old car . Luke was even looking flawless with his new fashion sense,he looked really presentable with a dark shades on a necklace and even a ring on his index finger.

Nina smelled the perfume on him and it was one from the expensive brands.

Nina looked speechless and they both were quite for a while.

They drove for a few minutes in silence before Luke decided to break the ice. "So, how's your family business going?" he asked, curious.

Nina's expression darkened slightly. "It's complicated," she said. "My family is involved in some things that I'm not proud of."

Luke nodded, understanding. "I know what you mean," he said. "My family has its own secrets too."

Nina looked at him with interest. "Really? Like what?"

Luke hesitated for a moment before deciding to trust her. "My parents were killed in an accident when I was young," he said. "But I recently found out that it might not have been an accident after all."

Nina's eyes widened in shock. "That's terrible," she said. "Do you know who did it?"

Luke shook his head. "Not yet," he said. "But I'm determined to find out. And when I do, I'll make them pay."

Nina looked at him with a mixture of fear and admiration. "You're brave," she said.

Luke smiled. "I have nothing to lose," he said. "Except maybe my life, but at this point, that doesn't seem to matter much to me."

They drove the rest of the way to Nina's dorm in silence, lost in their own thoughts. As Luke dropped her off, he couldn't help but wonder what secrets Nina's family held and how it could affect his newfound wealth and power.

As Nina said herself that she was not proud of what her family does, Ideas starts forming up in his mind and he made up his mind to dealt more deeper to find out the truth.
