THE UNSTOPPABLE BOSS

Chapter 9: Encounter with Mirabelle.

Kane wasn't an ordinary bodyguard, his brother is the largest shareholder holder of Twinkles hotel which was why he's so arrogant.

His brother couldn't take it when he heard what happened to him. Immediately, he called him on a video call.

Kane laid on hospital bed with a heap of bandage around his head. His face had swollen, leaving one of his eyes bigger than the other. He could feel his brother boiling in anger at the other end of the video call.

“Who the heck did this to you!!?” The brother sparked with anger in his tone.

Kane wanted to reply but felt a burning pain in his mouth which couldn't allow him to speak.

He twisted his mouth, trying to nurture the pain as he managed to say. “It’s a guy brother. I don't know his name. He just walked up to me and started hitting me.” Kane said without narrating the full story of what really happened.

“What nonsense!! I’ll deal with the idiot who dares mess with you!!” He blurted with gritted teeth. He couldn't hang it around his neck, seeing his brother in such pain even if he was guilty, he didn't care!

“Was it the same guy who's sister is in the hospital?” He asked kane.

“Yes brother. The police had arrested him.” Kane replied before his brother sharply ended the call.

The brother ended the call and dialed a number instantly. “Hello, I heard there is a guy in your custody. I want him at my abode now!”

Meanwhile, inside of the police vehicle, Marcus was in handcuffs, seated in the middle of two officers while another one handled the steering wheel. Only the humming sound of the vehicle filled the air.

Suddenly, a phone chimed, breaking the dead silence in the car. The officer by his right picked the call. Marcus listened.

“Helloo..hello sir!” The officer responded with a shaky voice, his charisma changed to a respectful one with fear in his voice because of the caller “Yes sir..we have him sir. Immediately sir.” The call ended.

The police whispered to the driver and he turned the car, heading to a different direction instead of going to the police station.

Marcus smiled after sensing the deceit. The caller must have instructed them to bring him and he’s ready for the worst if the worst is what he'll face in his quest to avenge Lilly.

The vehicle drove into a compound and Marcus was led to the top of a building where he felt the evening breeze blowing his shirt backward. Some metres away on the roof of the building is a helipad with a helicopter on it. The men led him into the sky bird in a way Marcus sat in their middle again. The pilot started the engine and took off.

“This is going to be tougher than I thought..” Marcus thought.

Minutes later, the helicopter landed in a compound and Marcus was led into a majestic building. He stood in the luxurious living room with the two police men standing behind him. He looked around, and he could see nothing but riches from the expensive decors and furniture of the room.

Just then an approaching Footsteps can from the staircase leading to the living room. Marcus turned to the direction, anticipating to see the person.

His eyes widened seeing a man he recognised coming down from the stairs. It was no other person but sir. Hex.

“You’re the bastard who hit my brother!!” Sir. Hex glared at him. He didn't recognize him. “Remove his cuff!” He instructed one of the officers.

Yes, he wouldn't recognize him because Marcus had changed in appearance when his soul entered another body and he was yet to know that.

He was however surprised that Sir. Hex didn't react as if he never knew him. He must be pretending not to. He thought.

“I never knew the fool who wanted to kill my sister was your brother. Like father, like son.” He said.

“He’s lucky to be Alive. The next time I see him, he won't live to tell the story!” Marcus said boldly, his anger propelling his speech.

Sir. Hex took a step closer to him. “Do you know where you are and do you know who I am? I can do anything I like to you and no one dares question me!!” Sir. Hex boasted, angered by Marcus's boldness which he regarded as rudeness.

Marcus glared back at him, his confidence unwavering. “You’re the same old man who banged my wife and now your brother almost killed my sister. You're pretending you don't know me and yes, you can't because I am no longer the delivery guy you thought was dead. Am now different and be ready to dance in my storm of revenge else it'll sweep you off your feet!!”

Marcus’s statement was like fire, burning with anger. The room suddenly fell silent as sir. Hex went dumb, trying to assimilate his words.

He frowned, an expression of confusion in his eye. “What are you talking about! Have we met before?” He stared at him intently.

Before Marcus could reply, another footstep approached from the staircase. Marcus didn't turn not until he heard a familiar voice.

“Honey..” It was a feminine voice.

Marcus turned to see her, the devil herself in a short red gown which exposed part of her lap. That was Mirabelle!

Painful memories of her betrayal and deceit awoke more anger within Marcus as she watched her approach and kiss Sir. Hex passionately in their presence.

How shameless!

She turned to Marcus and the policemen after breaking the kiss. “Is he the one?” She pointed a finger at Marcus. The hatred and condescension in her voice was obvious as she took in Marcus’s poor appearance.

Marcus wondered what was going on because Mirabelle couldn't recognize him either.

“Yes but I think he knows me from somewhere.” Sir. Hex couldn't stop staring at Marcus, still trying to remember if he had ever encountered him.

“Who wouldn't know you sweetie. You're popular and rich.” She smiled, flattering him with her statement and wrapping her hands around the Waist of the old man.

“He needs to be taught a lesson!” She added as her smile wavered, replaced by a tight frown.

Her once lovely voice irritated Marcus and that prompted him to reply rudely to her.

“You are a fool for saying that Mirabelle! You'll regret what you did to me and you'll beg on your knees till you shed hot tears of pain and I'll give you nothing but more pain!” Marcus blurted out aggressively.

Mirabelle froze!

How the heck did a stranger know her name and from the look of things, it seems the guy before him knew him very well.

Tension rose in the room and silence took over as a confusing expression plastered on the face of the couples.

They exchanged confusing glances and stared back at Marcus.

Her gaze burrowed into his eye, her confusion mounted as she couldn't recognize him. “Have we met somewhere and what was that statement about?” Mirabelle asked with a furrowed brow, her confusion undiminished.

It was at that moment Marcus realised something was off. Mirabelle couldn't have forgotten him so easily like that.

Sir. X suddenly stepped closer, a mockery smile playing across his lips as his demeanor shifted to a tight expression.

“Listen you poor thing. Enough of the game of familiarity! I’m giving you the Chance to fall on your knees now and apologize. I’ll start a video call now too and you have just 24 seconds to apologize to my brother!”

“You should be lucky my baby is kind because he should have done something worse than this.” Mirabelle rolled her eyes at Marcus.

Marcus Chuckled, casting the duo a menacing gaze. “If you think I'll do that then you must be joking!
