Ethan looked at Darren, whose face had been disfigured from the zombie bite. He was barely recognizable now, his skin gray and decaying, his eyes void of any humanity. Darren, or what was left of him, let out a guttural snarl and lunged at Ethan, who instinctively raised the compound bow, ready to defend himself. Sandra looked at Darren as he released her and plunged at Ethan. Ethan dodge him and looked at the bowed which was having no arrow to shoot with. Suddenly he had an instinct of drawing back the bow and a magic arrow came out of it. The arrow flew true, striking Darren in the chest. But instead of collapsing, Darren's body twitched violently and staggered forward.
Ethan quickly nocked another arrow, his muscles burning with the effort, and aimed for Darren's head. The second shot found its mark, and Darren finally dropped to the ground, lifeless.Sandra stood frozen, her eyes wide with shock. "How is he still moving? The system said the mission was accomplished."Ethan shook his head, breathing heavily. "I don't know. Maybe there's more to this than we thought." As they stood over Darren's corpse, another holographic message appeared in front of Ethan. [SYSTEM ALERT: NEW THREAT IDENTIFIED. PREPARE FOR PHASE TWO.] Ethan's heart sank. "Phase two? What does that mean?" Before Sandra could respond, the ground beneath them began to shake. The sound of crumbling earth and distant roars filled the air. Sandra grabbed Ethan's arm, pulling him back towards the safety of the room they had just left. "Run!" she screamed, dragging him along. They sprinted back into the building, slamming the door shut behind them. The walls trembled, dust and debris falling from the ceiling. They could hear the growls and snarls of zombies growing louder, and the unmistakable sound of something much larger approaching. "We can't stay here," Ethan said, his voice grim. "We need to find a way out. I thought you said they were gone." Ethan raise his voice Sandra nodded, her face pale but determined. "There's an old tunnel system beneath the building. It leads out of the city. I found a map of it in the records room." Ethan's eyes lit up with hope. "Then let's go. We don't have much time." They made their way through the dark, narrow corridors of the building, the sounds of chaos echoing around them. Every shadow seemed to move, every noise a potential threat. But they pressed on, determined to reach the tunnels. As they descended into the basement, Ethan's headache returned with a vengeance. He stumbled, clutching his head in pain. Sandra rushed to his side, supporting him as best she could. Ethan and Sandra managed to get out of the basement as they ran into the forest. " I think we lost them." Sandra said trying to get his breathe back. Ethan looked back and could see some walkers right in front of him. He drew out his compound bow and killed as many as he can as they walked through the forest. " We need to find a safe zone. I heard there are some resistance there." Sandra looked at the map she was holding. "We need to grab some few provisions too." Ethan said looking at his bag pack. " We will go through here and floor the path ahead. it should lead us to the safe zone." Sandra replied As they walked, they tried to avoid some of the zombies until they reach the mall. Ethan saw one of the guards that had been turned to a zombie and immediately shot him with an arrow. They opened the door carefully and walked inside. " We move out in ten minutes. Grab whatever you need and we move." Ethan instructed with his fingers. Going through the groceries, Ethan packed as many food as he could. His mind going back to his sister. He was going to share some of it with her if they ever meet. Ethan tried to make sure Sandra was in sight as they grabbed their stuffs. Suddenly, the hall to the grocery stall rang and some men walked in. " Hide!" Ethan whispered seeing they were on army uniforms. " Can't be believe we have been searching for some food joint and we are fortunate to stumble upon this one." One of the men said with a smile " We don't have much time, we leave in ten! Grab whatever we need at the hide out and let's go." A commanding voice said out loud. The men immediately swung into action grabbing some of the crucial things needed at the safe zone. Ethan looked at them as they grabbed what they needed. He looked at Sandra and gave her some signal to stay put. He carefully went through the back. Ethan knocked one of the men out and had his gun. He was about to get closer to the second men when he heard Sandra's shout. " I will advise you not to try anything funny. Come out !" The voice was commanding Ethan walked out holding one of the men with a gun to his head. " We are not here to harm anyone. So, just let him go." Ethan looked at the men who had thier guns pointed at him. " Release her to me and we would be on our way. " Ethan replied " We can use a man like you, we have a safe zone where you wil be safe and looked after. Fresh food, clothes and even a warm bed over your head. I am Commander Derek. " The man said lowering his gun. He signalled to his men to do the same. "Careful now!" He said gently releasing Sandra Sandra ran towards Ethan and he released the men he was holding too. " C'mon boys. We need to leave now. You can come with us if you want." Derek looked at Ethan Sandra looked at Ethan and he knew she was tired of always looking after her shoulders. Derek was about to open the door when Ethan said they were going to follow them. The soldiers walked out in formation taking some of the Zombies down. They even had an armour tank. They drove heading towards the safe zone. Relieve watched over Sandra and Ethan and as they entered the safe zone territory, Ethan saw something that bothered him. He looked at Derek and his men and back at Sandra. They were driven into a well fenced compound with soldiers mounting the gate. " We are here." Derek replied looking at Ethan and Sandra. They got out of the car and Ethan noticed that there was no civilians there. " What about the rest?" He asked looking around " Have them taken and prepare them for feasting." Derek commanded one of his soldiers who grinned Sandra looked at Ethan scared " what does he mean when he said feasting?" She asked as they led them away Ethan and Sandra were taking into an abandoned house with a tray right in front of them. Ethan opened his eyes in awe seeing the ugly sight in front of him. "Cannibals." He said looking at the man holding him. Before he could say another word a blow landed on his face knocking him outEthan looked around and he could see all sort of human bodies hanged up and down on a roll. Sandra looked at him and her face went pale. " Are they going to eat us?" She asked with her eyes watery. " I don't know Sandra. Look around you and tell me what you see." Ethan said slowly with his head bowed to the floor. He tried to look around but the place was dark. " I won't sweat that much if I were you." A voice said from behind them. " Who are you?" Sandra asked as she cried. " Did you see that? I bet you did. That was my daughter's head." The voice said shifting Ethan and Sandra's gaze towards the little light shwoing the abbatoir room ' What?" Sandra said slowly and began to unrinate on herself. " Yes, she was killed yesterday and featsed on." The voice said again echoing through the dark room " Is there a way out of here?" Ethan asked trying to see if there was. " My friend, We are all going to die. Don't you get it. It is only a matter of time before your head find it way into
The soldier fell down from Ethan's grip and his face went pale. " Have him prep up and have that one locked aside. We are going to have him killed lastly." Derek pointed at Ethan Ethan was dragged away from Sandra as she clawed at him. " Stop!" Derek shouted seeing what was going on. " Is he your husband?" He looked at Sandra and then back at Ethan, who was now looking sacred. " No, no," Ethan shouted " Have her prepared. I want her heart served on my table tonight." Derek instructed and walked away. Sandra was pulled apart from Ethan. A picture fell from her clothes as they dragged her away. Ethan looked at Derek and his eyes showed he was going to have him killed. He looked at the lady who had her hand tied to the chair and still couldn't see her face. Ethan was thrown into a separate room and the door was locked. He looked around him and the loud snarl of the zombies was heard. His heart thud faster trying to see if he could see but he couldn't. " You don't need to be scared
The sound of the gun and bulet flew across the room as Ethan and his friends tried to get out of the room. "Don't let them go!" Derek shouted at his men, but the horror going on inside the room was terrifying. Marcus and Ethan managed to clear a path as they ran out of the door. Marcus closed the door behind them, and the loud noise of screams and horror filled the room. Sometimes, the noise died down, and Marcus quickly went to have the rest of the prisoners relaesed. They gathered around and killed the rest of the soldiers. "I would burn that if I were you." A man said this, looking at Ethan. "Burn the corpse? Why?" Ethan asked, with his head carefully bandaged by Rachel. "Just do as he says." A woman replied The corpses were immediately torched. The zombies were all killed and burned. Ethan sat down and looked at Rachel. "I am sorry it took me a long time to finally come get you. I am sorry." He said it gently. Rachel said nothing but simply hugged him. Ethan looked up, and anoth
Ethan shouted at the walkie-talkie he was holding. "Is anybody there? Marcus! Sandra! Can you hear me?" he shouted, hitting the table in frustration. "What the hell is going on?" Johnny looked at Ethan's face and didn't understand what was going on. "The zombies—did we burn them?" He asked, taking a part of the vile and strapping his back to his bag. "I don't think we did. We had them buried." Johnny replied "Then we are fucked." Ethan said this under his breath as he walked towards the exit. Johnny ran to his front and immediately blocked his path. "Are you trying to get us killed? I think you need to tell us anything if there is something wrong." He said, looking at but being thrown off by Ethan's reaction. Back in his youth, Ethan had always gone on solo operations. He was better, faster, and could concentrate when he was alone. He doesn't need the help of any teammate, and he has always done fine on his own. He drew Johnny towards him and looked into his eyes. "Did I ask you t
Ethan walked up to the body parts right in front of him and almost hauled at the site of what he saw. "Can you think of anyone who would do this?" he asked, looking at Clara and back at Johnny. "I wish I knew, but right now, we are just as clueless as you are." Johnny replied "My family." Clara said it with a scared face as she ran towards her home. "Go; we don't know who else might be around." Ethan looked at Johnny, asking him to follow Clara. Johnny ran after Clara, who had her gun pointed in all directions as she walked. "What do you think happened?" Johnny's voice was in hush whispers as he moved closer to her. "I don't know. What did he tell you?" Clara lowered her gun a little, looking at Johnny, who was keeping his eyes open. "He didn't say much. I think he found out something at the hospital and radioed immediately, but no one was answering." Johnny replied The door creaked open, and they both fired a round at the door. Ethan heard the sound of a gunshot and immediately
Ethan looked back behind him and saw the figure moving and getting closer. He immediately drew out his bow as the two men looked at him. He shot an invisible arrow to his disbelief, and it hit the zombie. The creature snarled on the floor as the men watched. "I am here to look for my sister and friend too. Who the hell are you guys?" Ethan asked, trying to come back to his senses. "I am here to find my wife." The man said it again, but with a soft voice this time around. "I am sure they must have been taken by someone or something," Ethan replied. The men looked at themselves, releasing Clara and Johnny. "What are you not telling us? If you know something, then you need to spill it. We don't know what is going on at the moment. One minute later, we were out to get some food supply as we could get back to this." The other men said it again."The zombies are now getting wise, I think." Ethan paused as he looked at the zombie he shot. He got back up to his feet. "That is impossible." Et
Johnny and Fred kept walking, trying to look for a clue that would tell them where their families had been taken too. They had seen that Derek and the rest of the soldiers had dug their way out of the ground. "What exactly are we looking for?" Johnny looked at Fred. "We need to find anything that would tell us what really happened here." Fred replied "Do you think the zombie did this?" Johnny said, looking a little bit taken back. "I don't know, kid." Fred scratched his head, trying to think of something. They were about to walk back to meet Ethan and Clara when they heard a squeak at the door. "Sh..shh...hh." Fred looked at Johny. Both of them immediately went under the table and stayed quiet. The loud snarl of the zombie could be heard as it tried to find its way out of the room. Suddenly, it made a snarl, and she walked out of the room. "We need to follow it." Fred said, looking at Johnny. "What do you mean, follow it? Are you seriously thinking about killing yourself?" Johnny
Ethan looked towards the door and back at Clara and Johnny, who were scared out of their wits. "You both need to be ready for anything that comes through that door." He said, rolling up his long sleeve. Johnny brought out the pistol in his pocket and checked to see how many rounds he was having. "Do you have anything to defend yourself with?" Ethan looked back to see Clara, who was still shaken by everything that was happening. The loud bang continued, but Ethan wasn't fazed. He was a soldier, and he had seen the worst. He walked to Clara and shook her violently. "If what comes through that door meets you cowering like this, you are dead. Do you want to see your sister again?" He asked, staring at her blue face. Clara nodded, and her hands were a little slippery from the sweat her palms were secreting. "Okay, good. Then you need to fight. That is the only way we are going to get out of here alive. Am I clear on that?" He shouted at Johnny. "And you, make that count." He pointed at
