Chapter 444

“Please leave me alone, mom.” Lisa sniffled and turned away. She was seated on her bed, her back against the wall, hugging her chest with her knees.

When she heard the door squeaking, it dawned on her that she hadn’t initiated a lock. She sighed and clenched her jaw.

A few seconds later, her father walked in. Lisa immediately turned away and resolved to wipe the tears on her cheeks. She was expecting her mother to walk in but even if it was her father that eventually walked in, she wasn’t ready to see anyone.

“I want to be alone.” She said with her face averted from her father.

Joey sighed and sat by her feet. He looked at his palms. “I’m sorry. I’ve not been fair to you.”

“I’m glad you realize it now.” Lisa retorted without looking at him.

Joey looked up to her. “You’re right. I should have believed you when you mentioned that your meeting with Smith that evening was a coincidence. Also, I shouldn’t have used it against you.”

Lisa sighed.
