Chapter 10

Jake couldn't believe his ears. Did Madison actually say that to him? The woman he loved the most in this world actually insinuated that he was a thief. He was so shocked that he didn't know what to say. Why was she acting this way? What would she gain from accusing him falsely?

A hand touched his arms and Max whispered to him. "Sir, allow me to teach all of them a very hard lesson."

No! He couldn't possibly punish Madison. He still cared so much about her. He shook his head. "Don't worry about that. I'll handle it my own way."

As he made his way towards Madison, she instinctively stepped an inch backward. She feared what he was going to do to her for accusing him. She hadn't wanted to do it too, but she'd had to. If only he knew that was the only way to save all of them-----

Both of them just stared at each other without uttering a single word. Jake could immediately discern that she was struggling to maintain eye contact with him.

He glanced casually at Shane. "You! You're very lucky today. Thank your stars that you're still alive by now."

"Let's get going!" He said to Max, even though he didn't know where they were going.

Once outside, he quickly asked, "Who are you? And what's with the chairman thing earlier?"

Max smiled. Yes! He should be confused. Anyone would be. "Sir, I called you that because that's who you are. You are the chairman of McPherson's consortium."

He erupted into laughter, knowing it had to be a joke. What affiliations could he possibly have with such a big name?

He walked away. Suddenly, he heard the loud screeching sound of a car's tires. He looked to his side to see a sleek black Lamborghini. The driver got out of the car, walked up to him, and bowed courtly. He opened the door and gestured for him to enter. "Mr chairman?"

Jake got more and more confused. What in God's name was really happening? First, it was a green premium card, now a sleek car. When did he suddenly become so rich? If this was really a dream, he wouldn't like it when he suddenly wakes up. He touched the car and felt it. It was really real? His eyes widened in shock.

"It's okay to be this way. Just get in and I'll explain everything to you as we move." Max whispered to his ears.

He didn't speak for a while, he just continued staring at Max. If Max really owned this vehicle, he must be stinkingly rich. He thought. "This--- how much--- how come you one this expensive car at your young age?" He blurted out and Max frowned in confusion.

"Own?" He touched his chest. "Chairman, this car belongs to you!" He declared to Jake's utmost surprise.

Jake swallowed hard in his throat. This car really belonged to him? What if he was lying? What if he wanted to kidnap him? Regardless of his wandering thoughts, he entered the car even so.

As they drove on the road, Max handed over a locked briefcase to him. "Your grandfather has asked me to become your secretary, I think that's the first thing you need to know. Then, he asked me to tell you that everything you need to know about the transfer of shares and ownership is inside the briefcase. Only your fingerprint can open the briefcase. You only have to sign the papers."

Signing of papers again. He smiled dryly, thinking about his divorce papers. Now that he thought about it, he must have lost it in the accident. He brought his kind back. "What do you mean by transfer of ownership?"

Max pursed his lips. "Like I said earlier, you are now the heir to the McPherson's consortium."
