Suspicious

(THE NEXT DAY)

Max smiled as he watched Michelle walk into the company. He had his bike brought back the night before as he would be needing it. He would have carried Michelle straight to the hotel but then the appointment wasn't till in the evening which made Max even more doubtful.

Well, then that wasn't his problem. He was still going to find out what was happening sooner or later. First, he decided to do some work as he had some delivery piling up.

He was going to quit the job sooner or later, but then he had to do some last job since he loved the job so much.

It was what had saved him from joblessness for three years and he had grown to love the job. Even though he was going to quit sooner or later, he wanted to do some delivery before he did so.

In no time, it was noon. Max sighed as he wiped away his sweat. He had been working nonstop since morning and was very hungry at the moment. Looking at his pocket, he noticed he didn't have even a dime.

This was bad, after thinking about it for a while, Mark decided to head to Cisco to have his lunch. He guessed the workers there would also be having their lunch so it was a good idea.

"President."

Salute came from the security guards when they saw Max driving in on his scooter. They had to be respectful, this was a man who could easily defeat them in a fight even though his structure looked skinny, the strength in that body of his was something they could imagine.

Also, their president was very humble to the man and was nearly on the verge of tears begging him to stay behind. They didn't understand what kind of identity he had to be able to scare the president to that level.

Cisco was a company ranked number one in the city and it was worth around ten to fifteen trillion or more, yet their president had to kneel and kowtow in front of the young man.

The president could easily command clouds and rain in the city, but yet he had to be humble before the young man.

The security guards shivered in fear when they thought about all this. But then they wondered if this was truly how the rich dressed. Going around incognito. They couldn't help but admire him from the depth of their hearts.

Max smiled at the salute of the security men, he wasn't the type to make a fuse over such a small issue. If he had time in the future, he might consider training the men and helping increase their level.

"How much I help you sir?" The receptionist smiled politely at Max when he got inside.

It seems like the new receptionist they had hired was a bit more sensible than the first he met the day before.

"Tell Ethan, Max is here." Max smiled.

The receptionist frowned but didn't say anything and quickly called her superior to inform him about Max.

Soon the expression on her face changed and quickly she bowed to Max apologizing, "Mr. Darkwood, I'm sorry if I've said anything to make you annoyed."

"No, it's okay." Max smiled and didn't say anything.

Who didn't know of the Darkwood family? It was just that he rarely used his surname so no one knew of his origin, he had been using his mother's surname so many didn't know of his origin.

Soon hurried footsteps were heard and the receptionist's face changed when she saw who it was.

The president of the company and other high-level executives. Immediately she stood up to receive them even though she knew they probably would ignore her.

Just as she thought, they ignored her and went straight for Max who was standing behind her with his hands at the back of his head humming a song.

"Mr. Darkwood, it's a pleasure to meet you." Ethan smiled as he extended his hand for a handshake.

Max smiled and shook his hands with a smile. Next, the executives introduced themselves to Max.

"If you would mind, would you all stop calling me Mr. Darkwood, Max would do." Max smiled.

Ethan and the others gulped in hearing Max's words before nodding. Ethan on the other hand was the most scared as he couldn't help but remember Albert's words of not losing Max.

"Mr. Max, we've prepared the meeting room, you can come in," Ethan smiled as he invited Max.

"Leave that for another day, I didn't come for that, let's go to your office Ethan." Max smiled.

"Yes Mr. Max, I'll lead the way." Ethan smiled as he led the way leaving all the other executives.

Immediately the two were gone, the executives breathed in a sigh of relief, there was an invisible pressure pressing down on them when they were facing Max which was quite strange.

Also, they couldn't help but remember Ethan's words at the meeting, never to question Max nor do anything that was going to displease him. He was from the Darkwood family and they all knew how terrifying the family was.

"Such a nice office." Max sighed as he sat on Ethan's chair without reserve.

"I could arrange an office for you if you want one." Ethan smiled as he said politely.

"That wouldn't do, I don't need it, besides, I'll be coming here just once in a while." Max smiled.

"By the way, I'm hungry, ask someone to get some food at the cafeteria." Max smiled.

Ethan hooded and walked out of the office. In about five minutes, he was back with a lot of food packed.

"I didn't know what you liked, so I just ordered a bit of everything." Ethan smiled as he placed the food in front of Max.

"It's okay," Max smiled and collected the food before wolfing it down.

After about twenty minutes or so he was done, Ethan had someone come to pack up the leftovers.

"Mr. Max, should I tell you about the company?" Ethan asked tentatively.

"There's no need, I trust you, just continue to run the company the way it was before, I have no intention of intervening. Just let me know if you need anything."

"I thank you for your trust even though I feel like I'm not worthy," Ethan bowed.

Mark smiled and didn't say anything. He knew what he was doing, the company had already developed and it would be hard to have any breakthrough.

Also, his father had given him a lot of money, but there was no way he was going to spend the money in a short time, also there were some things he needed to take care of.

"If I may ask, which family owns Dominus Technologies?" Max frowned.

"The Carols family."

"I see."

"Is there any problem?"

"No, there's no problem."

Ring! Ring!

Max's phone rang at that moment. Frowning Max looked at the caller's ID only to see it was Michelle.

Wondering what was happening he picked up the call.

"Max, can you come to the Four Seasons hotel?" Michelle's anxious voice came.

"What's happening?" Max frowned as he stood up abruptly.

"I can't explain, but please come fast." Michelle pleaded and before he could say anything, the call was disconnected.
