Your Useless Husband

At this moment, Ethan was covered in sweat as he watched Max walking out of the building not sparing him a glance. He couldn't help but remember Albert's order not to do anything that was going to displease Max or else he was going to suffer the consequences.

Just now, someone had rushed into his office and told him a man named Max Darkwood was looking for him. Immediately, he left what he was doing and rushed down only to see what was happening.

"You're fired." Ethan gritted his teeth as he pointed at the receptionist and then rushed out to follow Max.

The receptionist stood rooted to the spot not knowing what to do. She couldn't believe a man dressed in such a shabby way would have the power to make Mr. Ethan fire her.

At the moment, Ethan could care less about his image as he followed Max.

"Mr. Darkwood, please forgive me and give me another chance." Ethan pleaded as he ran towards Max.

"I'm sorry, but your time is up already, there's nothing I can do about it," Max said with a rather apologetic smile.

"Mr. Darkwood, please reconsider it, I beg of you." Ethan pleaded falling to the floor disregarding his image.

He couldn't allow Max to leave. From the way Albert had talked, it had taken a huge effort to get Max to take over the company. If Max should just leave, he didn't know what Albert was going to do to him.

Max stopped in his tracks seeing Ethan fall to the floor disregarding his image. He couldn't allow others to see him like this as it was going to be a huge embarrassment for him.

"I need to pick up my wife from work, it's already time, I'm late already." Max sighed and ignored Ethan.

"I'll prepare a car." Ethan stood up and said excitedly.

He knew Max must have agreed but it was obvious he wasn't going to take a look today, well, he had accomplished his aim, to make Max stay.

Max smiled and nodded, he could as well embrace the idea of taking a car to pick Michelle up from work.

In no time, a Roll Royce phantom pulled up in front of him. Max smiled and got into the car.

"Take me to the Summit Real Estate company." Max smiled and the driver nodded driving off to where Max said.

----

"Michelle, why don't you hop into my car, it's not right for you to stand here alone." A man with stunning features smiled as tried to invite a lady into his car.

"I'm sorry, but my husband will be here to pick me up soon." The woman replied coldly. She had a very beautiful feature and her pale face complimented her long eyelashes with her hair almost reaching her waist.

Her skin was white and her face was just like an exquisite piece carved out of jade. She was well endowed in the place a woman should. The aura coming from her was cold which kept pushing everyone away.

"Who knows if he would come, he's over an hour late." The man frowned as he looked at the woman in front of him.

He had been trying to get her attention over the years but had always ignored him. He didn't know what she saw in that loser husband of hers who would come to pick her up in a scooter every day.

"Don't worry, I won't eat you up." The man smiled trying to persuade her.

"I'm sorry Smith, but I can't go with you, just as I've said, my husband will be here soon." Michelle smiled, her voice getting colder with each word.

"She's just a fool, she had no idea how much I had been eyeing Smith."

"Yeah she knows nothing, she'll be embarrassed soon when her husband comes to pick her up on that old scooter."

Voices of the other jealous employees drifted into Michelle's ears but she could care less about it.

"What do you see in that loser?" Smith frowned when he could take it no more.

"It's none of your business, my husband is mine." Michelle spat coldly.

"He's just a loser who can't afford anything, how do you want to continue to keep up with him? I heard he couldn't even pay for his mother's hospital bills," Smith smirked as he stared at Michelle.

At that moment, Michelle's heart was in turmoil, Smith had said something that touched her. It was true that her husband was a good-for-nothing who couldn't protect himself.

She would have to stand up for him on many occasions, many times she had considered asking for a divorce, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. She loved him so much. But how long was she going to endure the ridicule?

It's been over three years and still nothing has changed. Now that his mother was sick, she was sure he was sooner or later going to succumb to the temptation from her mother.

Michelle's eyes became red thinking about this and tears threatened to flow down.

"It's none of your business if my husband is good for nothing, he's mine not yours," Michelle stated coldly and turned away from him.

"Your husband would leave you sooner or later and succumb to the temptation of money, who knows if he had already done so," Smith smirked as he stared at Michelle.

"Wow, a Rolls Royce phantom!" Cries from the crowd made Michelle swallow what she was about to say and she turned to look in the direction.

At that moment, Michelle wished it was Max who was in the car so he could slap those who had looked down on him. But she knew her wish was never going to come true, it was just too unrealistic.

The girls in the scene had already fallen in love with the car and whoever was in it. They watched as the car drove and pulled up in front of Michelle.

Michelle on the other hand was shocked to see the car pull up to her front. This was a Roll-Royce phantom. What the hell was happening? Just as she couldn't process what was happening, the door of the car opened and Max alighted from it.
