Embarrassed

"Huh!"

The on-looker gasped seeing Max alight from the car with his shabby clothes. Even Michelle couldn't help but gasp when she saw Mark. Her brain couldn't process what was happening.

Max on the other hand had a smile on his face, it was finally time to give his wife all that she deserved. There was no way he was going to let her suffer unjustly again. He was going to Make sure he spent no effort to make Michelle happy.

Seeing the gaze on the crowd's faces, he could guess what was happening. Seeing this a smirk appeared on his face as he walked towards Michelle.

"Shall we?" He smiled holding Michelle's hand immediately he got to her.

"Yes," Michelle muttered as she nodded weakly.

"Hey, where do you think you're going?" A yell came just as Max was about to proceed to the car.

"Where do you think I'm taking her to?" Mark smiled as he stared at Smith.

"You are just good for nothing, you're not qualified to hold her hands." Smith frowned staring daggers at Max wishing he could take his place.

In his mind, Max was just a road who wanted to eat swan meat which would be impossible.

"Either I'm worthy or not, it's none of your business. Besides, are you fucking blind to see that I'm taking her home?" Max frowned as he berated Smith.

"Fool, do you think you can fool me? Even if you can fool others, you can't do that to me. Do you think I don't know this Rolls Royce Phantom is rented just for you to show off? You are just a good-for-nothing who couldn't afford a new set of clothes, do you think I'll be fooled with such a lowly act?" Smith sneered.

"I can't believe he borrowed the car to show off. How disdainful." Some of the onlookers whispered, not caring to keep their voices down.

"Fool, do you believe it's a rented car? Don't you know how much a Rolls Royce Phantom costs?"

"It's over a million dollars. Who in hell would rent out such a car?"

"Also, would he even be able to afford it even if he wanted to rent it?"

"Are you saying it's probably not a rented car but his car?"

"I'm not sure, but that's the speculation."

Michelle's heart tightened when she heard the words of the onlookers. Rented or not, she was still appreciative of what he had done. Coming to save her in such an awesome manner.

"Idiot!" Max cursed.

"You should know your worth before comparing others to your useless self, don't go around bullying my wife next time, or else I won't take it lightly with you.."

"Michelle, let's go," Max whispered to Michelle slowly, bringing her to the car.

Getting inside the car, Michelle heaved a sigh of relief as the car drove away.

The onlookers watched as the car drove away while they continued to whisper to themselves.

Smith on the other hand was convulsing with anger, "how dare he?" He muttered as he gritted his teeth.

That useless son-in-law. How dare he disgrace him. This was just too much, he was going to have his revenge sooner or later. He was going to make Max watch as he slept with his wife.

"Thank you, Max," Michelle muttered as she stared at Mark who seemed to be deep in thought.

"Huh!" Mark froze for a second. Did his cold wife just thank him?

He must be imagining things. He knew Michelle well, she was cold to him and would never allow him to touch her. She wouldn't have allowed him to hold her hands if not for the fact they were in public.

"Max, where did you get the car?" Michelle suddenly asked, bringing Max out of his thoughts.

Max smiled bitterly as he racked his brain, he couldn't tell her that the car was arranged by the president of Cisco. Even if he told her, was she going to believe him?

"I met a friend from college and he ordered his driver to drop me off at home so I used that opportunity to come pick you up."

"Make sure to return the car quickly once we get back, we can't afford to be in debt." Michelle frowned.

Max smiled and didn't say anything. He was going to reveal his identity to Michelle but not yet. It couldn't be done so soon, he had to make her accept some things or else she was going to freak out.

Soon, the car pulled up in front of a rather small house. It was a house in one of the rural areas and was just big enough for two to three people to live in it.

Coming out of the car, Max asked the driver to go back and enter the house with his wife.

"Wifey, I think this belongs to you." Max sighed as he passed a bag to Michelle.

"What's that?" Michelle's face turned cold as she stared at the bag.

"I'm sorry, but I can't accept your money, it's something you worked hard for."

"Are you rejecting my benevolence?" Michelle frowned as she glared at Max.

"It's nothing like that, but it's what you worked hard for and besides, you need to hurry and pay back the loan shark you borrowed money from."

"Did my secretary let her mouth run wild again?"

Mark smiled bitterly and didn't say anything. There was no way he was going to reply.

"I won't be accepting back what I've already given out, it's left to you if you want to save your mum or not." Michelle spat coldly and walked away leaving Mark dumbfounded.

Mark sighed as he didn't know what to do. His wife was just this cold to him. Even though she had always defended him, she was cold when they were together.

He wondered if he could make her stop being cold towards him or else, there'll be problems in the future.

Ring! Ring!

The doorbell came just at the moment. Mark frowned as he walked towards the door, but before he could open it, Michelle beat him to it.

"Mum, what are you doing here?" Michelle frowned as she stared at her mum.
