The Becoming

My voice catches in my throat when I see the men. My hands starts to shake and I am frozen in my spot.

Move! The voice in my head instructs me but I don't understand until it finally dawns on me that if I don't run and hide, I'll be dead in any second.

Run and hide?

That's for weaklings... And I'm a weakling.... those are the people that killed my parents and now they're here to kill me. If they kill me it's over, my wealth, my life, everything and I would never ever be able to taste revenge.

My hands clench into fists at my side, then my mind falls on the book. I run towards the bedside table and I flip the pages frantically till I got to the middle page.

I said the words, I shouted it at the top of my lungs and I expected something to happen, anything... uncontainable Superpowers, consuming cosmic lightning bolts?... But nothing happened, worse, I am more sacred now.

“I knew this was a sham." I said throwing the book on the bed.

There's a safe room for emergencies like this, if I could just hide in the safe room and figure everything out later... But the safe room is downstairs and the men are coming from downstairs.

Immeasurable powers would be my only hope right now. I picked the book up again, this time I said it louder and harder, I shouted it, I meant it... Nothing.

I threw the book across the room and it hit the wall and tore into different parts.

I run towards the door and I turn the door knob, I'm hearing gun shots downstairs... I take a right turn, if I could go through the other wing of the house, I know this house better than they do and I can find my way to the safe..... To the safe.... Room.

“Wait, what's what beeping noise?." I asked wondering if it was a bomb that was counting down, they wouldn't blow the house up if they were in it too.

The noise is getting louder and it's not from downstairs... It's from above... My head?.

Louder and louder the beeping got, I took one step and the ground escaped from my feet, throwing me off balance, I stood up, at least I tried, but I fell to my knees and I held my hands to my head.

I was trying to stop the loud noise before it got me deaf.... I could hear nothing but that loud blaring.

I yelled and I couldn't even hear my own scream, I felt as if I had swallowed dozens of hot nails, and they had cut holes in my throat and my chest and they're drilling holes in my stomach.

My hands press harder against my ears and I thought that very soon, I would break my own hard because of how hard I am pressing.

“Ahhhh!." I screamed again, I knew I screamed but I couldn't hear my own scream.

Then it appeared... The system.

“What?." I asked, “what is that?." I asked again like a haunted man.

“F*ck!." I cursed hoping that this day would end as me waking up and finding myself in bed, and this is all a nightmare. I couldn't even focus on what this so called system was saying.

What override?.

Suddenly, I felt a surge of electricity go up and down my spine. My bones felt too surreal in my arms and legs and chest, as if they weren't my own bones, as if they were new. I stood up from where I was kneeling and I took my hands off my head…i started to gain my hearing back and my head slowly stopped hurting.

“Over here!." I heard and i turned to the end of the stairwell to see five men pointing guns at me.

I raised my hands signalling surrender, they were all wearing masks so I wasn't seeing their expression but I heard about two of them laugh, they didn't come to kidnapp me, they came here to assassinate me.

I closed my eyes and I raised my hands to cover my head, waiting for their shots to take me down. I heard the first shot and I felt it graze my hand, there was an explosion of pain in the right side of my arm.

I screamed because of the pain and I fell to my knees. Blood was splattering from the bruise and falling on the floor.

( shields activating) I heard in my head and then there was an actual shield, it was blue and it looked as light as a bubble... The men were shooting but nothing could penetrate through this shield.

“Unbelievable!. " I muttered, more men came and they continued shooting.

The shield was unhinged.

I felt as if I was light as air and I started to feel as if everything around me was fading, then the beeping sound came again, this time louder.

I screamed... And then I see a very bright light, it's almost blinding.

Then everything starts to fade off until everything is white....

“Where am I?." I ask myself looking around, everything is perfectly still until it starts to shake as if I'm inside a blender.

Everything starts to form patterns

I wake up forgetting the time I had fallen asleep. I brush my hair away from my forehead and I look around, I'm in a metal room. I see a door in the room, it's the only door and it doesn't have a handle.

I run towards the door and I start to bang on the door.

“Open this door, who locked me in here."

I banged on the door harder... Someone was keeping me here, what happened, was it those assassins, did they finally get to me, did they kidnap me?.

I'm frozen in thoughts when I hear a bolt from the side of the door and finally, the door pushed open.

Someone walked through the metal door and gave me the shock of a lifetime.
