Alice

“That's enough, Thomas.” Elijah calmly said, diffusing the tense situation.

“But…”

“I said, that's enough.” Elijah intoned yet again. “Don't let me repeat myself.”

Dissatisfied as he was, Thomas heeded Elijah's command and let go of Oliver's hand, causing the latter to take several steps back in fright, same with Olivia.

Alice's parents were frightened, so they didn't dare to make any sudden moves but that didn't mean they were happy to let him do as he pleased.

Just then, someone spoke up. “Who's this man and why is he looking for my Alice.”

Elijah glanced in his direction only to frown as the person that spoke was a man in his late twenties and though he was dressed fashionably, it was easy to tell that he was both an alcoholic and a licentious individual.

“Don't worry about him, Mr. Leroy, he is unimportant.” Olivia intoned with disgust before addressing Elijah. “Look here, Mr. Leroy over there has decided to marry Alice after we have searched for a suitor for her for so long. If not for you, Alice wouldn't have had any problems getting married. So the best thing you can do now is disappear from her life forever!”

“I understand that it's because of me that Alice had to suffer so much. But don't expect me to leave here before seeing her.”

Just as Olivia and Oliver were about to lose it, Mr. Leroy spoke up. “I don't have much to say to you, fool, but I'd suggest you not to force my hand else I won't hesitate to teach you a valuable lesson.”

“Are you threatening me?” Elijah inquired with a raised brow.

“You'd best watch yourself. Mr. Leroy is the heir to the Leroy family fortune and the current CEO of Leroy Corporation. It's even been publicized that he has managed to clinch a contract with Gold Lake, one of the largest conglomerates in the city. Right now, he is a budding young man with everything a woman could want. Do you think you can go against such a person?” Oliver remarked, hoping to frighten Elijah away.

Unfortunately, his attempt was pointless because though Elijah reacted, it wasn't out of fear but rather out of pleasant surprise.

Olivia misread this, though, as she remarked. “Scared yet?... If you are, best to leave here at once; else, don't blame us for not trying to help out.”

Just as Elijah was about to respond, a girl dressed in an outfit covering herself from head to toe, came down the stairs.

She was not in a good state judging from how she was trembling.

All the other family members that were present, looked upon her with scorn, like a monster that didn't deserve to be in their midst.

But Elijah was different.

He could immediately tell that she was Alice, the woman he was here for.

Olivia was just about to say something when Elijah hurried over to stand before her, catching her off guard.

She was stunned as she quickly recognized him as the same man from back then.

“Elijah, is that you?”

"Yes, it's me and I'm here to take you away from here. Just say the word and I promise you that no one would force you to get married.”

“That…”

"Who do you think you are to say such rubbish?... You'd best watch your mouth!” One of Alice's relatives remarked.

Elijah ignored him and instead waited for Alice's response.

“I… don't want to get married,” Alice replied with Elijah smiling in response.

“Then let's leave this place.”

Elijah didn't even care about anything else as he took her hand and tried to lead her away only for Mr. Leroy to stand in their way.

“Alice, you'd best think before going ahead with this nobody. You are making a huge mistake.”

Alice gave no response but it was clear that her mind was made up.

“Good, very good. Since you have decided to suffer, then I will make sure you suffer.”

“Enough.” Elijah coldly remarked. “I can accept you making threats towards me, but don't overstep your boundaries.”

“Hah, you've got some nerve, bastard. I'll make you pay for humiliating me today, just remember that.”

With that, Mr. Leroy turned and left with Oliver and Olivia rushing after him to beg him not to leave just like that.

They didn't even care that Alice was leaving them and other family members were even happy to be rid of an eyesore like her.

Elijah and Alice left the Wesen manor with Alice keeping to herself.

[Mission completed]

[10 Spirit Points rewarded]

Elijah tried to get her to take off her veil but Alice refused, insisting that there was no need to do so.

After thirty minutes of driving, Alice suddenly got a call.

She picked it up and immediately, her heart seemed to jump out of her chest as she heard a familiar voice. “Mommy, save me!... I'm hungry and these people are starving me!... They even locked me up with huge and fierce dogs that bit me all over. It hurts, mummy and I'm so scared.”

“Stop the car!” Alice exclaimed, causing the car to stop abruptly.

Meanwhile, in another location, Mr. Leroy got a call from his subordinates. “Boss, it's done. The little girl has been sent to the Blood Cage where she'll be torn by the dogs.”

“Good. Let's see how that bitch would dare to go against me when her daughter is dead!”
