At a quiet alley way.
The sky was dark, painted with gleaming shiny stars surrounding a crescent moon. Foot steps echoed as a lady clad in a puffy jackets walked down the alley way. Her head was down and she wore a headphone. At that moment, a vehicle suddenly pulled over besides her. The door swung open revealing three hefty men with tatoos wearing armless vests. The three hefty men grabbed the lady, with one of them landing a karate chop on the back of her neck, causing her to lose consciousness. The men shoved her into the vehicle and swiftly drove off.* * * The next day.. Chris walked out from the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his waist. Taking a glance at the mirror on the wall, a smirk appeared on his lips. Thanks to the body fitness exams, he was starting to notice the developing abs and biceps. At that moment, he recieved a notification from the system.-[New Weekly Quest; Join the Police] "Join the police?" Chris wondered. He wasn't against joining the police. After all it would give him a good chance of getting into contact with criminals and earn points. However, he was worried about what Cindy and the Cortez family would think of him when they saw him parading the city as a police officer. Plus if he became just a mere police man, he wouldn't have access to top level crime cases. If anything, he hoped to join as a detective. Too bad he didn't know how the system worked. Fixing himself some clothes and a plate of fried eggs and flat bread, he grabbed a coat and left the house. Just as he was about to flag down a taxi, two ladies walked past him, discussing. "Have you heard? a lady got kidnapped yet again yesterday" "Gosh. It's the sixth one within a week. Now i'm even scared to go out at night" "What are the police doing about this huh?" The ladies didn't speak quietly, so Chris was able to overhear their conversation. Girls getting kidnapped? How come he's never heard of it before?Just as he mused over this, a taxi pulled over. "Where to?" the taxi man asked. "Rottinhemier Police Department"* * * A taxi pulled over at Rottinhemier Police Department. Chris alighted and paid his fare. "Who would've thought that i would come here one day to sign as a police officer?" Chris whistled as he stared at the police station filled with officers patrolling around it. Walking up the stairs, he suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder. Spinning around, he saw the culprit. "You? what are you doing here?" "Hehe. I should be the one asking you that" Annabeth chuckled. "My dad is a cop here. I want to give him breakfast" Anne smiled, swinging the lunch box she held. "N-Nice!" Chris gulped unintentionally. What the hell! her dad's a cop! he suddenly began thanking his stars that he didn't hit on her that day. "I came here to register" Chris scratched his nose. "You want to become a police?" Anne was surprised. "It's weird right" Chris grinned, looking quite embarrassed."No. No. I didn't mean that. It's just that most guys don't like the cops job. The patrols. Little pay. I just found it surprising" Anne shrugged her shoulders. "Well, i just like fighting crime" Chris said. By now, the duo already arrived at the entrance. "Hey Anne. What's up?" a burly police officer gave Anne a thumbs up. "How's it going Pedro" she winked, leading Chris inside. "You wait here. Let me go and call someone" Anne patted Chris shoulder and left. Sitting at the waiting chair, Chris brought out his phone. At the home screen was a news headline that read; "Six young girls kidnapped in just a week. Is the future of Rottinhemier City turning bleak?" "This news yet again?" Chris groaned inwardly. "Chris!" he heard Anne's voice. Looking up, he saw her standing besides a middle aged man in a brown coat and wearing glasses. "Meet my Father, Detective Warren. He's the lieutenant of this precinct" Anne introduced the middle aged man."W-Wow! good morning sir!" Chris hurriedly stood up and gave a bow. However, it looked funny in the eyes of Anne and her father. "Follow me young man" Detective Warren beckoned at Chris. At the Cortez family apartment.. "Mum. Enough with the make up okay?" Cindy groaned as she struggled to stand up. But her mother Bella swiftly latched her arms around hers. "What do you know? you are going on a date with Lewis Chapman. Just how many girls will die to get this opportunity" Bella snorted. The Chapman family were part of the top three families in Rottinhemier city. And Lewis was the first child of the Chapman family. If anything didn't happen, he was going to become the next patriarch of the family. The Cortez family were more than willing to grasp on the fat thighs of the fat meat. If they could unite through marriage, the Cortez family would instantly soar into greatness. Like a carp leaping through the dragons gate."I know mum. It's just.." Cindy stressed. "Just what? you're still thinking about that poor bastard, aren't you?" Bella snorted. Right from day one she never supported the idea of her daughter marrying the likes of a pauper such as Chris. She was just like Chris, born in a poor family. However, she married Cindy's father Alfred, thus elevating her family status and began swimming in wealth. Naturally, she wished for her daughter to get married to an even richer man. But alas, this stupid daughter got seduced by that pauper, even going to the point of commiting suicide if she didn't marry him. When she heard the news of Chris becoming crippled and missing, she was the happiest. Since then she began to hoodwink her daughter into 'socializing' more with Lewis. "What the hell do you even see in that bastard body. Looks? i'll admit he's a pretty face, but Lewis isn't bad either. Plus, he's rich!" Bella felt like tearing open her daughter's head to check what's inside."You won't understand mum" Cindy smiled ruefully. "Then make me!" "Do you remember that time when grandpa brought the idea of me marrying Chris?" Naturally, Cindy was referring to her late paternal grandfather, the former family patriarch. "At that time, i wasn't happy about the idea of marrying Chris. But as we stayed together, i began to like him for one thing" "What? his looks?" Bella spoke in a 'matter-of-fact' way. "No. I discovered that he's compassionate to a fault. Like a fool" "Hm?" Bella was confused. Didn't her daughter love Chris? why was she insulting him? "Tell me, would Lewis boil the water for my bath? or make me coffee? wash the dishes? shop groceries? give me a jacuzzi massage?" "Lewis is a rich scion who cares alot about money. Although we'd get married, i won't be able to control him. But Chris is different" "Chris is just a miser, easy to control. Once i give the word, he obeys like a dog because he's aware of the disparity of our status"* * *
"How was it?" Anne asked Chris as soon as he got out. "It went well" Chris smiled. "What were you expecting?" he grinned. "My dad didn't make things difficult for you right?" "Nah" "What department are you in?" Anne asked. "I don't know yet. Your dad told me he'd tell me tomorrow as well as my uniform too" Chris shrugged. He couldn't help but frown inwardly. Why was the 'complete mission' notification popping? Was the system broken perhaps? "This calls for celebration no? a restaurant's just a stone throw from here. Why don't we go grab lunch and celebrate while we're at it?" although Anne said this in a suggestive tone, she was literally dragging Chris towards the door. "Sure. But i'm paying this time" Chris warned her before hand. He had to save face right? "You better!" Anne snorted jokingly. As they left the building unbeknownst to them, a police officer patrolling the area swiftly walked into the building. The police officer hurried towards an office within the station, pushing open the door. "Sir! your daughter just left the building" the police officer reported respectfully. "Did she leave with anybody?" Detective Warren asked. "Yes sir. She left with a man" "Good. I want you and three others to monitor those two. Don't let them stray away from your sight"The next day, Chris was surprised to see a cop at the door early in the morning. The young cop was holding onto a package. "Yes?" Chris arched his brows. "Detective Warren asked that i deliver this to you" the cop handed the package he was holding, over to Chris. "Oh. It must be my uniform. It came quite quick huh?" Chris instantly knew what was within the package. "Thank you" he nodded at the cop then closed the door. He started doing his daily fitness. He rounded it up quickly, had a swift breakfast and hurried to open the package. Just as he anticipated, it was his police uniform. Donning it on, he checked himself out through the standing mirror. "I look less bony than before and my eyes are sterner, compared to my dull eyes in the past" he mumbled to himself. Although these were minute changes, he knew his body quite well. Ever since he got the system, a lot of things changed. He finally became independent. Became braver. Now he's gotten a new job!-[Ding! Host has compl
"You.." the female cop stared at the duo, unable to speak. Wasn't this old man's audacity a little bit too much? wanting the director to come see him in person.. "Why are you staring like me like a movie. Do what i said!" Detective Warren snapped. "Sir.." the female cop wanted to protest but the sharp glare Detective Warren sent her way made her shut up. She reluctantly picked up the landline and put a call across. "Sir, are you sure about this?" Chris palm were starting to get sweaty. He hadn't even registered yet and this old man was already offending the director of the training center. In his mind, he was planning how to deny ever knowing Detective Warren. "Don't worry boy" Detective Warren dismissed his worries. He had a relaxed expression on his face, like he got the situation all under control. At that moment, the sound of heavy hurried foot steps was heard as a man approached them from the inner part of the training facility. The man was rotund. His head was like the
The Next day.. Theo fixed himself a fast meal. He tapped on the '+' sign for Agility.[Do you wish to add +1 agility stat? it costs 2 feauture points] 'Yes' A few moments later, the Agility stat increased by +1 while his feauture point decreased by -2. The briefing ended in a weird kind of way. The outburst of powerful aura Star released was scary. After arriving at the hall, they began to read their roaster list. Theo was part of a crime investigation squad while Larry was part of a K9 squad. After that, the newbies were shown their desks. It might be a coincedence, but Star's desk just happened to be besides Theo's. The whole morning was quite uneventful since Theo didn't recieve a call from his squad. When it was lunch time, the officers began to hurry out to grab a snack or two at a nearby cafeteria. "Sup buddy?" Larry wrapped his arms around Theo's shoulder. "Boring" Theo sighed. "You'll get used to it. Especially since you are part of the crime investigation unit. Honestly, you should join me in the K9 unit" "No thanks" Theo quickly rejected. Seriously? if he joined the K9 unit, how would he earn cash and feauture points? "Suite yourself" Larry shrugged. They arrived at the resturant but just as Theo wanted to enter,
Detective Warren flipped the document on his office desk, onto the next page. He began scribbling something down with the bic pen. Apart from the sound of the bic and whooshing of the AC, the office was dead silent. At that moment, the door opened up a bit and a head popped out through the crack. It was Chris. "Oh, it's you young man" Detective Warren glanced at his wrist watch. It was ten minutes past lunch time. Just what was this guy doing here? "Can i come in?" Chris enquired. "Sure. Sure" Chris walked in. The police uniform on his body added a certain miniscule change in his aura. He took the seat opposite the desk. Detective Warren smiled. "So?" "I don't want to join that team" Chris laid his complaint. "Oh?" Detective Warren grew curious. "And why is that? You must now that since you were appointed to a team, you must stick to it. If i change you carelessly, my subordinates will start harbouring thoughts that i am impartial"Chris sighed. He knew from the start that
When Chris and Sky got to their desk, the latter brought out the case file, tossing it at the former. "Huh? isn't this too big of a major case for the both of us?" Chris complained. "Unlike you, i'm a veteran" Sky grumbled. The case was actually simple. A chicken resturant was suspected to be illegally smuggling drugs to customers. Their jobs was to gather enough clues to warrant an arrest. "What do you think of the case. I'm giving you the chance to air your views" Sky snorted. "I think we should pose as employees and monitor the business from within. That would be pretty feasible right?" Chris recalled a cliche tactic used in almost every mystery thriller movies. "Idiot. We are police detectives, not private ones" Sky rolled her eyes. Chris wrinkled his brows. Private? police? weren't all detectives the same? "Fine. You are just naturally stupid" Sky sighed, rubbing her temples. "We are going to give that restaurant a swift look". Chicken Villa was a renowned local food j

"Thank you for showing up detectives. I am sincerely grateful" a male voice laughed as soon as Sky parked their car at the spacious parking lot. They both alighted and saw a middle aged man in butler suits, pushing a man in wheel chair towards them. The man in wheel chair seemed to be in his early thirties. He had a warm smile on his face. "He must be the friendly sort" that was Chris first impression of him. "My name is Fred Bush" the man in wheel chair introduced himself. "You are the adopted son of Liam Bush? plus you were the one who filed the report at the police station?" Sky shook his hands. "Hah. I don't like being.." Fred smiled wierdly. "Introduced like that? sorry" Sky apologized. "Alright. Why don't i show you both around?" Fred volunteered. "We are not tourists. We came here for investigations" Sky was quite blunt in her proffessionalism. "Ohkay. I'd lead you both to the garden then. We'll discuss over a cup of tea"Sky nodded in agreement. "Why couldn't you be
