Emma composed herself and returned to her brother's bedside, concern etched on her face. "How do you feel?" she asked, her voice soft.

Her brother forced a smile, "I'm fine." Emma's eyes narrowed, "Are you sure?" She needed reassurance that he was okay.

He nodded, "Just some little back pains." Emma's eyes filled with relief, "You will be fine, okay?"

“You will be fine okay,” she said, as she cupped his face, her touch gentle. He nodded, his eyes trusting.

She helped him sit up straight, her hands supporting his back. Her brother's smile weakened, and his eyes fluttered closed, his face pale. Emma's heart raced, her fears resurfacing.

Marcus's smile was a brief moment of comfort before Emma's attention was drawn back to her brother's suffering. She rubbed his hands, trying to offer what little comfort she could, her lips bitten shut to hold back tears.

When Marcus asked if he wanted to eat, her brother's response sent a wave of worry crashing over her.
