Seventy four

Marcus's heart raced as he heard the footsteps approaching. He tiptoed to the door and peeked outside, his eyes widening in surprise as he saw Sandra's father heading towards the room. Panicked, Marcus scanned the space for a place to hide, but there was none.

Sandra's father reached the door and noticed it was slightly ajar. His eyes narrowed, knowing someone was inside. He pushed the door open with a swift motion, his anger evident in the creak of the hinges.

"Who's here?" he demanded, his voice echoing through the empty office as he spun around, his eyes scanning the space for any sign of the intruder.

Marcus held his breath, crouched beneath the desk, and silently prayed that the elderly man wouldn't discover him. He knew he couldn't come up with a convincing excuse for his presence in the office.
