Chapter 10

“I will lead the way then, follow me.”

“Alright.”

Sheila smiled at him and began to lead him towards the direction of her office. Seeing that Hector was leaving, Colt threw himself to Hector’s feet.

“I am so sorry! I am truly, deeply sorry!” Colt bawled, tears streaming down his face. “I’m begging you, Hector. Please give me another chance! I’ve put my heart and soul into this job for years. It’s everything to me. I can’t lose it—please, I’m on my knees begging you!”

Hector glanced down at him, his eyes betraying a flicker of emotion.

“Please, remember our past,” Colt continued, his voice breaking. “Think about the times we shared. For the sake of what we once had, help me. Help me get my job back. I’ll do anything. Just give me one more chance. I swear I’ll make it right.”

Hector sneered, shaking his head. Now that his identity has been revealed, Colt was trying to make up for all he had said for the past years. “Friends? Were we really friends? I don’t remember us being friends.”

Nodding fervently, Colt pleaded, hoping Hector would listen. “Yes, we were. I know I messed up, but please, Hector. I’m begging you. Give me a second chance. I promise, I won’t let you down.”

“If we were friends, you wouldn’t have been so cruel,” Hector responded coldly. “I wasn’t the one who fired you. You did this to yourself. If only you had been respectful to everyone, this wouldn’t have happened.”

“Colt!” Sheila yelled, her patience wearing thin. She couldn’t understand how Mr. Henderson was friends with someone like Colt. “You’re already fired. There’s no need to make a scene. Leave now, or I’ll have to call security.”

Colt’s face fell, his hands slipping from Hector’s legs as he struggled to find words. “No, please, don’t call security! I’m begging you, VIce president. I need a chance to explain. Just give me a few more minutes. Hector no, Mr. Henderson, please! Don’t do this. I’m begging you for one more chance. I can’t lose this job, not after everything.”

Hector only stared at him without saying anything. They weren’t friends in the past and Colt had tried to bully him in the past.

Colt’s expression dropped when he saw the cold expression on Hector’s face and he felt regret for all he had done. If only he had walked away when he saw Hector on that scooter and not tried to kick him out, his job would have still been intact.

Colt’s grip on Hector’s fist reduced and Hector began walking with Sheila.

“Don’t make a fool of yourself anymore.” Sheila told Colt. “Just leave.”

Hector  glanced at the receptionist, she had a terrified look on her face. More mixed with a guilty and shocked expression on her face.

She couldn’t believe she had just asked the guest of the vice president to leave. Was this the end of her job? She didn’t mean to do it. She had only thought she was doing her job and now, she had actually made a mistake.

Hector, however, understood that it wasn’t intentional and, since she hadn’t been rude to him, she wouldn’t face any consequences.

“Don’t worry,” Hector reassured her. “You did nothing wrong, so you won’t be fired.”

A look of shock spread across her face, quickly followed by a relieved smile. “Thank you, sir. I am glad that you didn’t fire me!”

Hector simply smiled back. It would be nice if the company had more workers like her in it.  He glanced back to see Colt still sitting on the floor and not moving an inch.

He then turned and headed towards the vice president’s office. Sheila watched him, curiosity piqued, but remained unsure how to approach the situation. She had many questions about who he really was, which was likely why the president had instructed her to be particularly respectful towards him.

Setting aside her curiosity, Sheila led the way, determined to get her answers soon.

As she opened the door to her office and motioned for Hector to enter, she felt his gaze on her. He walked confidently to the boss’s chair and settled into it.

Her eyes widened in shock as he took the seat, and her brows furrowed in irritation. She had never anticipated that he would sit in a chair reserved for her boss. Although he might be a guest, but, sitting on the chair was out of hand.

“Impolite,” she muttered under her breath. “Very impolite.”

“What?” Hector asked, his brows raised in confusion.

“It’s impolite to sit in the boss’s chair,” Sheila said firmly. “I know you’re here as a guest, but it’s better to avoid overstepping boundaries.”

“What makes you think I shouldn’t be sitting here?” Hector countered. “You should call your boss.”

Sheila glanced at him, then looked away and pulled out her phone. Soon, she was on the line with her boss, who was also the housekeeper.

“I’ve brought him to the office as instructed,” she reported. “He is here with me.”

“Are you sure you have the right person?” the housekeeper asked.

Sheila eyed Hector and described him. “Blue eyes, a confident smile, and black hair. Isn’t that him?”

“That’s correct.”

Hector frowned slightly, perplexed by the description of his smile.

“What should I do next, boss? He’s sitting in the boss’s chair even though I asked him not to.”

“I will be stepping down from my position as the head of the company,” the housekeeper stated plainly. “There will be a new person taking over starting today.”

“What?” Sheila’s eyes widened in disbelief. “If you’re stepping down, who will take over? And if today’s the day, why isn’t he here yet?”

Hector sighed, wondering how she hadn’t connected the dots. Wasn’t it obvious that he was the one taking over?

“You’ve already met him,” the housekeeper replied. “He’s right there with you. Hender Henderson will be the new boss of Lord's Limited.”

Sheila’s head snapped toward Hector, and her jaw dropped in astonishment.”What?!”
