Ava, who had been glaring at Dave with obvious disdain, turned her attention to Jerry.

"What is it, Jerry?"

Jerry's smile widened, sensing an opportunity to regain control of the situation.

"I heard from my Uncle that Carl Mullen, the head of the Kevton Chamber of Commerce is hosting a banquet tonight.

I know you've been working hard to help your family's business, Dexters' Associates, join the chamber. This could be your chance, you know?"

Ava's eyes lit up with interest.

"Really? Carl Mullen is in town?"

"Yes," Jerry confirmed.

"I thought you might want to attend the banquet. I can introduce you to him and pave the way for Dexters' Associates to gain access to the Kevton Chamber of Commerce.

Don't you think it's going to be a great opportunity?"

The mention of such a prestigious event immediately captured Ava's full attention, and she momentarily forgot her disdain for Dave.

"That would be amazing, Jerry. Thank you for thinking of me."

Jerry's eyes gleamed with satisfaction.

"Of course, Ava. Anything to help a friend."

The conversation shifted and the crowd discussed the one-in-town banquet that would soon take place in Nexroh.

"I can't imagine the splendour that would accompany the Kevton Chamber's billionaire banquet."

"I heard it's only the crème de la crème in Nexroh who are invited to the banquet."

"Even fairly rich individuals can't attend."

Meanwhile, Ava and Hannah couldn't help but praise Jerry for his plan to help Ava's family company secure a chance with the Kevton Chamber of Commerce.

"Jerry, you're such a gentleman," Hannah said with her voice dripping with admiration.

"Ava is lucky to have someone like you looking out for her."

Ava nodded in agreement.

"You're right, Hannah. Jerry's always been so thoughtful and considerate. Unlike some people."

Ava said, casting a disdainful glance at Dave from the corner of her eye.

Dave watched the exchange in silence, still maintaining an indifferent expression.

He knew that Jerry's offer to help Ava was just another attempt to gain her attention and further undermine him, Dave.

But of course, Dave had no interest in their petty games!

His focus was on something far more important.

However, noticing Dave's silence, Jerry felt a flicker of unease. He didn't like how unaffected Dave seemed by everything.

By now, he had expected Dave to show some signs of jealousy, anger, or irritation.

Determined to maintain his upper hand, he continued to steer the conversation.

"Ava, I'll pick you up tonight around seven. We'll head to the banquet together. Make sure to dress your best; first impressions are everything."

Ava smiled with her excitement palpable.

"Thank you, Jerry. I really appreciate this."

How else would she have had the chance to meet the renowned Carl Mullen if she hadn't met Jerry?

She couldn't be more excited about her meeting with Jerry that night!

"Jerry, meeting Carl Mullen and the other influential figures is an incredible opportunity. You've given me a chance I never thought I'd have."

"I'm glad I could help, Ava. You deserve every opportunity to succeed. Dexters Associates is going to make waves in the chamber of commerce."

Hannah quickly chimed in.

"Can I come too? It sounds like a fantastic event."

Jerry hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Of course, Hannah. The more, the merrier."

Hannah grinned in excitement as she cast a disdainful glance toward Dave, who was quietly enjoying the snacks and drinks he had brought along.

"Jerry is just the perfect fit for Ava, unlike some people," she continued sarcastically, "who are completely useless! They offer no help to Ava's career but just live off her!"

Dave was seemingly unaffected by Hannah's cutting remarks.

Instead, he chuckled softly while he took a sip of his drink and looked at the trio.

"You know," Dave began with his tone light and amused, "it's quite a delusion to think that you all are going to attend Carl Mullen's banquet."

Ava, Jerry, and Hannah turned to him with puzzled expressions.

"What do you mean?"

Dave shrugged nonchalantly.

"The banquet has been cancelled. Carl Mullen decided not to host it after all..."

Jerry's face froze with a flicker of disbelief crossing his features. "What are you talking about, loser? I got the information directly from my uncle." "Well, your uncle must have missed the latest update," Dave replied calmly. Jerry burst into laughter as he turned to Dave with a sneer. "You know what, fool, it's pretty bold of you to claim the banquet is cancelled. Do you even know who Carl Mullen is?" He laughed once again with a condescending tone lacing his words. "Someone like you probably doesn't even know what a banquet is, let alone anything about its status." Dave remained composed, unfazed by Jerry's mockery. He took another sip of his drink and met Jerry's gaze steadily, silently enjoying Jerry's naive pride. "You shouldn't envy my connections and background, jerk. It's not something someone like you could ever understand," Jerry continued. "But, if you really want to attend the banquet, I suppose I could reluctantly take you along. You know, just to bro

Almost immediately, the call ended. Everyone's gazes shifted to Dave, surprised at his prediction. Most of them involuntarily speculated that Dave might be a big shot who was only disguising as a commoner. Otherwise, it made no sense how he could assert so confidently that there was no banquet that evening. Ava, who had initially dismissed Dave's claims, now found herself in a swirl of conflicting emotions. How was Dave informed that the banquet had been cancelled? She rationalized that he must have overheard the news from somewhere. Despite her belief, the regret of missing out on the banquet gnawed at her. It was a missed opportunity for her to enter the renowned chamber of commerce which was a crucial step for her family's business. Jerry, who had been so confident in his assertions, was now filled with uncertainty as he tried to process the unexpected turn of events. His confidence was shaken. Just then, Hannah broke the silence with a loud, mocking laugh.

"Master," Carl's voice was urgent, "my daughter's condition has suddenly worsened. "I've made all the arrangements, and she is ready to receive treatment at any time. I can't wait to receive you, sir." "Don't worry, I'll be with you shortly," Dave assured, and then he turned to Ava. "I need to leave. It's urgent." Ava believed that Dave was leaving because he could no longer bear the mockery after being exposed for his supposed boasting. Therefore, she didn't stop him or ask why he was going. Although, they just obtained their marriage certificate that day, making them legally married, she still had no feelings for Dave! Even though they had done what a couple should do, but the reality of their relationship was far from romantic! As Dave moved towards the exit, Ava caught up with him. "Before you go, I need to make something clear." Dave turned to face her with a calm expression. "What is it, Ava?" "Don't dare come home tonight," she replied harshly. "

However, Emily's expression quickly turned to one of disgust when she noticed Dave. He didn't look like a professional. He was simply dressed in a plain shirt and trousers, with no stethoscope or medical kit to signify that he was a medical practitioner. "Did this jerk miss his way or what?" She thought as she looked Dave up and down with her lip curling in disdain. "Who is this?" she finally demanded, turning to the butler. "And why did you allow him in?" The butler, trying to maintain his composure, replied, "Madam, this is Master Collins, the recommended doctor by Master Mullen..." Before the butler could finish the introduction, Emily interrupted with her voice dripping with scorn. "No doubt, you have made a mistake by bringing in the wrong person! How could you even mistake the real doctor for this... this piece of trash?" She waved her hand dismissively in Dave's direction. "Madam, I assure you, Master Collins is the doctor who Master Mullen invited. Maste

When the ginger water was brought, Dave remained focused. He gently instructed one of the maids to undress Zane and make her sit naked on the bucket of water. However, Emily's face turned crimson with fury at Dave's instruction. Did her daughter have to be naked to sit on the bucket of water? No doubt, Dave had ulterior motives; a questionable intention towards Zane, and she couldn't continue to watch until things would get out of hand! "What did you just say?" Emily yelled with her voice echoing through the room. "You pervert! You want to take advantage of my daughter, don't you? Get out of here before I call the police!" Just while the butler was about to speak, the door swung open, and a young man in his late twenties entered. He was Zane's elder brother, Noah. He was accompanied by a dignified-looking man dressed in a crisp white coat. He had heard his mother's raised voice from the corridor, so he rushed in. “What’s going on here?” Noah demanded with his vo

Without hesitation, Emily and everyone present in the room welcomed and greeted Dr Hayes with the utmost respect. His reputation as a healer preceded him, and they were hopeful that he would be able to save Zane. After thoroughly examining Zane, Dr. Hayes straightened up and cast a disdainful glance at Dave. "This method," he said, glancing briefly at Zane, "of making her undress and sit on hot ginger water for treatment, is nonsensical and clearly carries ill intentions!" Dave who was standing calmly in the corner, met Dr. Hayes' gaze without flinching. "She needs to soak in hot ginger water combined with acupuncture treatment to recover," he stated firmly. "If I wanted to pursue women, I wouldn't resort to such despicable means, nor would I take advantage of a sick patient." The room fell silent as Dave continued, "It's your dirty minds that see ill intentions where there are none," he said, looking pointedly at Noah and Dr. Hayes. Dr Hayes's face flushed red wit

As soon as Zane collapsed, Emily was shocked while Noah couldn't contain his fury. Almost immediately, he grabbed Dr. Hayes by the neck. "What have you done to my sister?" he roared. "If you don't cure her right now, I'll break you into pieces!" Dr. Hayes, trembling in fear, stammered, "I-I don't know! This...this has never happened before! I truly don't know what to do. Plea...please, find another solution quickly..." At that moment, Emily, awakening from her shock, turned to Dave with a desperate plea in her eyes. She realized now that every one of Dave's predictions was correct. Everything had just played out as Dave had predicted! No doubt, Dave probably had the solution to her daughter's illness, so she turned to him. "Please, help my daughter. You were right about everything. I regret doubting you. Please, save her," Emily begged earnestly. Dave looking expressionless stepped forward towards Zane. After all, he was here because of her. If only for Carl's s

As Dave skillfully needled Zane, he explained the situation to everyone in the room. "Zane was poisoned," he revealed calmly. "The discolouration of the water indicates the presence of toxins. But fortunately, the needling and herbal bath have expelled and neutralized the poison, preventing further harm." Emily, Noah, and everyone else present were taken aback. They all wondered who could have poisoned Zane. However, it was not the time for speculation or verification. Emily turned to Dave. "Thank you, young man," she said earnestly. "You've saved my daughter’s life. We can't thank you enough." Just then, Carl Mullen entered the room. The butler had just updated him on everything that had happened since Dave's arrival as he accompanied Carl into the house. Already having a knowledge of the situation, Carl looked around the room, his gaze finally settling on Noah. "Noah," Carl called sharply, his voice cutting through the air like a knife. "How dare you

He glanced toward Ava, who was standing confidently on stage, having just delivered her speech thanking Jerry for her success. Carl leaned into the microphone. "Excuse me, Ms. Dexter," he began, his voice polite but firm. "It seems there’s been a misunderstanding."Ava froze, her smile faltering as she looked at Carl. The audience murmured softly, intrigued by the sudden shift in tone. "I’d like to clarify something," Carl continued."Neither your invitation to this dinner nor your candidacy for the Kevton Chamber of Commerce was secured by Mr. Jerry here."The room erupted in hushed whispers as Carl's words hung in the air. Jerry’s face turned a deep shade of red, and he instinctively adjusted his tie, trying to maintain composure. Ava blinked in confusion, her mind racing."In fact," Carl added, his gaze shifting to Dave, "the credit belongs entirely to Mr Collins, sitting right there."---Gasps

I knew I could count on you."Hannah chimed in, her voice dripping with condescension as she glanced at Dave. "See, Dave? That’s how you step up for someone you care about. Maybe take some notes."Dave clenched his jaw but said nothing. He had already done everything in his power to help Ava, and yet here he was, being dismissed as incompetent.Zane, standing nearby, couldn’t resist rolling her eyes. She knew the truth—she had personally ensured Ava’s selection at Dave’s request. Watching Jerry shamelessly take credit for something he had no part in was almost too much for her to bear."Unbelievable," Zane muttered

You’re in good hands.”Soon after, the Master of Ceremonies returned to the stage to announce the names of the three chosen candidates for the Kevton Chamber of Commerce. A hush fell over the crowd as the MC’s voice boomed through the hall.“Our second candidate tonight is... She’s in the main hall.”Zane smirked, playfully shrugging. “Lucky woman. I bet she doesn’t even realize how much of a gem she has.” She paused, then waved her hand dismissively.“Alright, alright.
