CHAPTER 7

GOOD AND BEST RIDDANCE FOR ALL

Reuben stood all through the accusations keeping his cool.

He waited until Williams finished speaking.

Everybody has believed Williams and has justified Louisa.

After the whole buzz died down, Reuben moved from his position and came to stand in the middle of the room

When everyone was waiting for the next action, Reuben spoke.

“ Louisa, you claimed to everyone here in my absence that I was cheating on you. You said you rather saw me in bed with another lady.

You claimed I was cheating on you instead, with another woman

Do you have any evidence or proof to that effect” Reuben asked

Louisa stood there without talking. She was just staring at Reuben not knowing exactly what to say

“ Do you have any evidence to prove that you saw me in a hotel with another lady? Reuben repeated his earlier question.

Louisa did not answer.

Reuben turned to Grandma

“ You are her grandmother. Maybe you can get her to talk” Reuben said with a mean face

He turned back to Louisa and repeated his question but there was still no response from her.

Instead she was slowly shaking her head with a sad countenance

“ So you have no proof to back your claims but you came to slander me as a cheater just to save your face.

But when I was saying the truth, nobody believed me and now you've tried so hard to debunk the my claims

” Reuben said gazing at Louisa

“ We talk about this issue no more, from now We have to settle scores now. This matter should be dropped now and nobody talks about it again.

We end it here and now ” Grandma said to the surprise of everybody

Adriana giggled silently and happily. She knew her grandmother intentionally said that to save her.

Reuben looked at Grandma without saying anything. He was surprised she said so.

When he knew it was his turn to disgrace them. He however kept his cool.

“ You have lost your job now due to your stupid behavior. And that was the only thing you could do with your life. At least It was a better job than staying home and being useless. Now you are going to be miserable as hell… .”

Grandma paused and looked at Reuben.

He seemed not to be bothered by her tantrums. He just looked at her with an expressionless face.

Grandma continued speaking

“...... You have also falsely slandered your wife. You have wrongly accused her of cheating. And you have discredited the trust my LATE HUSBAND had for you.

I was only tolerating you in this house as an in-law based on his last wish and the promise I made to him on his dying bed in his last days on the earth

But now you've proved yourself not trustworthy enough for all the merits we have offered you.

You have disappointed all of us in this family .

You are therefore going to be cast out of the family and I will get my granddaughter to sign the divorce you require immediately.

That will grant the final part between you two

You will no longer be his husband and she will no longer be your wife.

So from henceforth, do not address her as your wife ever again

Now you will no longer be a part of this family and your presence is not needed here anymore.

And do not address yourself as a member of this noble family

” Grandma said and smirked at Reuben

******************

Grandma's late husband MR ANDREW CARL ANDERSON was the master and the ruler of the family.

He ruled the family since his youth age

Mr Anderson as he was affectionately called was the head of the Anderson family and the highest power and the final say in the house.

He had gotten Reuben to be the in-law to the family and the husband of his granddaughter Louisa. He also found a job for him in the delivery company as a delivery man

No one agreed with him on that and no one understood his intentions but because he was the head, no one dared question his authority.

Even his wife Mrs Evelyn Anderson (Grandma) could not understand his intentions and never got an explanation.

Before he died , he made his wife, who was to take over from him, promise not to sack Reuben from the family so long as he remained a son in law to the family.

Grandma hesitantly agreed to it and tried to fulfill her promise to her late husband.

Although Grandma did not throw him out, she made a house help out of him.

Whenever Reuben was not at work, he turned to a house help to everyone in the family including his own wife Louisa.

Now She was ready to let him off from the family for good.

************

“Now you will no longer be a part of this family and your presence is not needed here anymore.” Grandma declared.

There was a loud cheer from all the family members. They were happy about Grandma's decision to trash Reuben from the family.

Williams and the manger were happy at the turn of events

Ryan was now a loser to them.

The family members jubilated on hearing that a thorn in the flesh had been removed by Grandma.

Even the guards were smiling happily as they had been freed from future defeats.

Louisa was happy that a burden she had carried along the years due to her grandfather's decision had been taken.

Now she could live her life the way she wanted

GOOD RIDDANCE

Reuben stood watching the turn of events

He watched as the whole room jubilated because he had been cast out of the family.

Louisa was happy about the news and was smiling happily

Even the manager was happy.

He shook his head in pity for them.

He was not angry. He was not sad. He was not regretful

He just kept on sneering at them

He was happy Grandma had accepted the divorce. That was exactly what he wanted.

To detach himself from the Anderson family

And he got exactly that

GOOD RIDDANCE.

He shook his head

He was wondering how the whole family, especially Louisa and Grandma came to know of his true identity.

His identity that had been hidden for many years for good.

That he was not as they thought.

Not a miserable or a useless in law turned house help who was humiliated at the slightest opportunity

Only if they knew.

To the Anderson family it was good riddance but to him it was the BEST RIDDANCE
