After Kailos finished informing the Alexander Company, Asher started discussing with Kailos, carrying out his next tasks as the leader. He seemed enthusiastic while providing interesting ideas for the hotel development project.

Besides work, Kailos also explained that every year the Dixon company held charity events and social activities. Asher was intrigued. "What contributions does the education foundation make to underprivileged children?" Asher asked, catching the social activities' purpose and the education foundation's contributions.

"Yes, Sir. We often donate to orphanages. During charity events, we can donate new or gently used items to those in need. It can also be for orphaned children."

Asher nodded in understanding. For a moment, he was silent, a question crossing his mind. "Then who leads the Dixon company's welfare foundation?"

If there are contributions from the education foundation, charity events, and social activities, there must be a leader managing the welfare foundation. Whether for underprivileged children, children abandoned by their parents, or elderly people in nursing homes. Besides ensuring the welfare of others, it also oversees the welfare of the company's employees.

Kailos gave a thin smile, seeing Asher's interest in the work and other activities within the Dixon company. "The foundation is still fully led by your father, Sir, Mr. Aberon Dixon."

However, before their conversation went further, Kailos quickly corrected himself, "Besides Mr. Aberon, Mr. William, Mr. Aberon's younger brother, serves as the foundation's vice-chairman."

Asher nodded in understanding, satisfied with Kailos's explanation. His father's choice of secretary was indeed competent and worked quickly.

After there were no more discussions about work, Kailos returned to his desk outside Asher's office. Meanwhile, Asher focused intently on reading all the documents from Kailos.

Less than an hour after terminating the partnership with the Alexander Company, a commotion erupted outside Asher's office door, disturbing his concentration. Kailos entered Asher's office with a worried expression, informing him about the sudden arrival of the Alexander Company’s leader, who insisted on meeting without an appointment.

Asher smiled meaningfully. The termination of the partnership had not even been a day, but he already had an uninvited guest.

A middle-aged man with ash blonde undercut hair glared, but his demeanor still showed respect for Asher.

Asher deliberately asked, pretending not to know Holmes Alexander's purpose for coming, "What brings you here, Mr. Alexander?"

Holmes's gaze conveyed dislike, but he tried to hide it. Preserving the company's reputation and avoiding losses from the hotel development project was more important than his dislike for the new leader of the Dixon company.

"I want to reapply for the hotel development project partnership with the Dixon company. The project is almost halfway done; you can't just cancel or terminate the contract."

Asher smirked, hearing Holmes explain the partnership. "It can't be reapplied, Sir. The partnership between Dixon and Alexander is terminated."

Holmes clenched his fists, trying to contain the anger burning inside. He truly disliked this new leader.

However, his expression changed to a forced smile as he remembered information about the new leader of the Dixon company—that Asher attended the same university as his son.

"By the way, Mr. Dixon, I heard you study at a prestigious university in this city." His eyes lit up with enthusiasm.

"Are you friends with Darren Alexander?"

Asher's eyes glared coldly and sharply, mocking Holmes's audacity to mention the university and his son's name. "What does that have to do with this partnership? Leave, I've decided that the partnership between Alexander and Dixon is terminated."

Holmes couldn't accept the decision. A partnership planned for a long time suddenly fell apart.

The middle-aged man's eyes glared with hostility, but his mouth formed a friendly smile. "Please reconsider, Sir. Do it for the sake of your friendship with Darren," Holmes said, trying to guess the relationship between Asher and Darren at the university.

Asher was annoyed by the statement. He threw the document in his hand onto the table harshly. Asher pressed the phone button on his desk, calling security into his office.

Annoyed, he ordered, "Escort the leader of the Alexander Company out; he's only disturbing my work!"

A few seconds later, two burly men entered Asher's office. With a nod from Asher, they grabbed Holmes by his shoulders.

Holmes could only mutter under his breath as the two strong men forced him out. Inside, he was furious at the new leader of the Dixon company, who ruthlessly trampled the Alexander company's dignity.

  • CHAPTER 158

Asher lowered Alicia onto the rolling stretcher. The nurses and doctors were already lined up, as if they had been holding their breath waiting for their arrival. As soon as the stretcher moved toward the operating room, the hospital director, who was a former military doctor who had helped treat Alicia in the helicopter, immediately joined inside. When Asher was about to follow, a nurse raised her hand, stopping him politely yet firmly."Sorry, Sir. This is as far as you go."Asher stared at the nurse’s hand for a fraction of a second. He was not angry, not forceful. He simply stepped back half a step, let the operating room door close, then chose to lean against the wall. His hands folded across his chest, his expression remained flat. But from the outside, he looked calm, like the surface of a lake, even though a storm was raging inside.Other people might have paced around or cried in panic. Asher instead stayed silent, calm, observing every passing second as if he could control i

  • CHAPTER 157

Alicia’s face tensed, her breath rising and falling as fast as her heartbeat. Cold sweat streamed from her temple, making her hair stick to her skin. She backed away until her spine hit the damp stone wall. The dark figure stood before her—his face hidden behind a mask, but the intimidating aura dripped so clearly that the room felt as if it shrank.“Le–let go….” Alicia’s voice cracked, sounding more like a broken whisper of despair than a request. Her eyes were swollen, tears pooling, but she held them back. The masked man tilted his head, a small movement that made Alicia’s blood freeze. A faint smile—though unseen—felt present from the subtle shake of his shoulders. He reached for a knife on the table, its metal catching the dim light and scraping against the walls.“Hey! Come on… let’s play,” he said softly, hoarsely, his steps heavy but steady. He twirled the knife between his fingers, as if showing off his bad intentions. Outside the room came the sound of footsteps pacing, othe

  • CHAPTER 156

The air in the room was damp, and the walls echoed with Waldric’s laughter—it sounded like iron scraping against stone. The dim yellow lamp above his head swung slowly, casting long shadows across the worn wooden floor. In that faint light, Waldric looked like the silhouette of a demon who had just finished signing a contract for immortality. The corner of his lips lifted, his eyes narrowing in satisfaction. “Those two wolves are too busy tearing each other apart, and meanwhile, I—” he pointed to his chest with a fingertip, “—am taking over their den one by one.”Laughter erupted again from his throat, deep and heavy. Jorge only stood beside him, his head lowered. He knew that if he dared to laugh, Waldric might take it as mockery. The man was too unpredictable.Waldric pushed his chair back, leaned against it, and tapped his knee slowly. “You know, Jorge,” he said while gazing at the ceiling, “everyone thinks I’m just a pawn, easy to sacrifice. They think I move without direction, bu
