Chapter 6

Kraig walked into the grand entrance of the biggest shopping mall in the city. It was a place he had never dared to enter in the past, but now as the heir to the DeVille group, it began to seem like nothing was impossible for him.

In his right hand was his black card. His grip tightened on the card as his eyes wavered around the store in amusement.

With just a glance, one could tell that each suit in the departmental store would cost more than 50,000 dollars.

As Kraig was about entering the store, a middle-aged woman dressed impeccably in a tailored suit walked to him and asked, "Excuse me, are you the new cleaner?"

Kraig snapped out of his thoughts instantly as his gaze fell on her. "Pardon?" He was surprised.

The lady seemed annoyed by his response. Her lips warped in a sneer as she raised her voice, "Are you here for the cleaning job?"

The other customers were alerted by her tone, and they watched anxiously.

"Job? No, you must be mistaken; I'm not here for any job. I'm here to shop." Kraig smiled.

The customers watching erupted into laughter-

"Who's he? Why would he think he can shop here?"

"It's okay to dream."

The employee glanced at Kraig's outfits and made a quick judgment. "Excuse me, sir," she said with a dismissive tone, "this store is exclusively for high-end clientele. I'm afraid it may not be suitable for you."

Kraig smirked, "I'm here to shop, miss..." His eyes drifted to the name tag on the employee's suit, " Miss Jane." He smiled.

Jane sniffled, looking aggrieved, "If you are not here for the job, then leave!"

Stunned by her reaction, Kraig was rooted to the spot. A crooked smile appeared on his face as he fixed his eyes on hers and said, "Where is your manager?"

The employee scoffed, she was about to call security when a younger-looking employee approached with a curious expression on her face.

She had overheard the commotion and was intrigued by the interaction between Kraig and Jane.

"Is there a problem here, Jane?"

Jane gestured towards Kraig. "This gentleman claims he's here to shop, Lily. But as you can see, his appearance suggests otherwise."

Lily cast a discerning eye over Kraig's attire and said, "Sir, I apologize for the confusion. May I inquire about your purpose for being here?"

Lilly's gaze trailed Kraig's clothes for another time. Kraig's worn-out shoes, faded jeans, and sleeves didn't seem like someone who could afford to buy a suit over 100,000 dollars.

"She just told you. I'm here to shop." Kraig raised his brows and smiled at Lilly.

She thought he wasn't rich enough to purchase any of their outfits, but seeing that Kraig was causing a scene, she decided to let him in.

"Please, follow me."

Kraig followed Lily as she led him through the departmental store. They walked through rows of luxurious clothing, their footsteps echoing softly on the polished marble floors.

Kraig couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement as he stared at the suits. The materials were perfect. It was the best he had ever seen.

Lily and other staffs showed him different collections, but Kraig was overwhelmed and couldn't make a choice.

At this time, an elderly woman, Mrs. Montgomery, well acquainted with the employees, walked into the store with a young man holding her hand flirtatiously.

She picked a grey suit from the ones Kraig was yet to consider and placed it on her lover's chest.

"This is indeed classy. How much is this?" She turned towards the employee attending to her.

"$250,000, ma'am." Jane, who had accompanied the woman, smiled.

"Wow! For a suit?" Kraig exclaimed.

He had the money to buy everything he wanted, but he didn't intend to spend lavishly. Kraig still wasn't comfortable spending money like the heir he was.

His gaze was fixed on Mrs. Montgomery and her lover.

Mrs. Montgomery have been watching Kraig since he entered the mall and thought Kraig was nothing but a gimmick.

"Look at that young man," Mrs. Montgomery whispered to her lover, a mocking smirk playing on her lips.

"Clearly out of his depth, don't you think? It's amusing to see him wandering around like a lost soul in this world of extravagance."

Her lover, who is eager to please Mrs. Montgomery, joined in the taunting. "Indeed, my dear. I doubt he even has the means to afford a single item in this store."

The two of them exchanged smug glances, finding great satisfaction in their perceived superiority over Kraig.

Their eyes were fixed on Kraig as they continued to observe him, waiting for when he would be thrown out of the mall.

Unbeknownst to Mrs. Montgomery and her lover, their words were not falling on deaf ears.

Kraig's senses were sharp, and he had keenly picked up on their condescending comments. Rather than feeling discouraged, however, he felt a fire ignite within him—he smiled at Lily, who brought in another set of suits.

"These are the ones we have here that are below 100,000 dollars."

"He won't be able to afford that either. Why does your colleague even bother?" Mrs. Montgomery asked Jane.

Kraig's eyes met Lily's, and he noticed a hint of sympathy in her gaze.

"I want to take a look at your most expensive suits."

Lily's eyes widened as her gaze drifted from Kraig to that of Mrs. Montgomery, whose laughter caused a disturbance in the store.

"Most expensive suits, he says?" Mrs Montgomery scoffed. "He can't even afford the one for $1,000, but he wants to see the most expensive suits here? Hilarious!"

Kraig smiled and paid no attention to her words, "Lead the way, Lilly."

Lily nodded and said, "This way, sir."

As they reached a section showcasing elegant suits and tailored attire, Lily stopped and turned to Kraig.

"Here we are, sir. This section is known for its exceptional craftsmanship and timeless style. Take your time and explore the options. If you have any questions or need assistance, don't hesitate to ask."

Kraig nodded gratefully, his gaze shifting momentarily towards Mrs. Montgomery and her lover.

He could feel their eyes on him, waiting for him to falter. But he was determined to prove them wrong.

As Kraig selected a suit that caught his eye, Lily approached him with a smile. "An excellent choice, sir. That suit will undoubtedly complement your style."

"Is that so? Then here you go." Kraig placed his hand in his pocket and brought out his black card.

Lily's lips drop as she takes the card from Kraig.

"Black card?" The woman's brows furrowed.

Kraig, sensing their astonishment, turned towards them, a confident smile playing on his lips.
