Chapter 7

Kraig's confident smile wavered as Mrs. Montgomery erupted in a loud laugh, her mocking tone filling the air, and her finger was pointed at Kraig as she said-

"Stealing a card, are we?" Mrs. Montgomery sneered, her voice dripping with disdain. "Lily, call the security immediately! We can't let this thief roam freely in here."

Lily's face shuddered, her lips parted at Mrs. Montgomery's words.

"What are you waiting for, Lily?" Jane snapped at Lily.

When Jane saw that Lily made no effort in trying to call security, she scoffed.

"You don't have to; I will call them myself."

"Ensure he doesn't run away before the security gets here." Mrs. Montgomery said, and instantly she called security.

"What is going on here?" A man's deep voice yelled, making everyone turn in his direction.

He was dressed in a luxurious grey suit, and his aura was that of someone with authority.

The man seemed impatient and stepped forward oppressively, "What's going on here?" His deep voice threatened, and his gaze at Lily and Jane was deadly.

"Sir, this young man came in here with a black card. We suspect the card is stolen." Jane answered, hoping to get supported by the man.

The man's gaze fell on Kraig instantly. He noticed Kraig's smirk, making him wonder if a thief would have such a proud demeanor as Kraig.

His gaze trailed Kraig's body, and when he saw the card, his lips parted.

"DeVille?"

The security rushed in and then tugged Kraig's arms to force him out of the departmental store.

"Drag him out! He is nothing but a thief." Mrs. Montgomery yelled, but as soon as the security was about to drag Kraig out, the man turned in their direction,

"You are all fired!"

There was a moment of silence after the man said that.

The man's expression further darkened. His eyes studied Kraig's face, and his jaw tightened as the atmosphere intensified.

"Welcome, sir. I'm the manager of this store. I'm sorry for the disaster. Would you please, come with me to my office?"

Everyone was shocked at how the manager was polite to Kraig. The departmental store was one of the many businesses under the DeVille group.

Despite not knowing who Kraig was and seeing he was dressed in worn-out clothes, the manager was being exceptionally careful.

“Sir, the card is stolen.” Jane frowned at Kraig.

Kraig stared at Jane, his ice-cold expression making the manager tremble as he said, “The workers here are not properly trained and mannered.” Kraig gave Jane a death glare.

When the manager saw this, he felt a sharp pain piercing through his heart, and just for a moment there, he hoped that the card truly was stolen.

He then forced a smile and asked, “Please, allow me to place a call to verify the card.”

Kraig was not shocked; he gave the black card to the manager. On receiving the card from Kraig, the manager disappeared to his office.

He placed a call to Mr. DeVille, “Hello, sir, greetings. Please, there is someone in our store trying to use the black card; I’m calling to verify his identity.”

“That’s my grandson and your boss.” Immediately Mr. DeVille said that he hung up.

The manager’s lips parted in shock.

After a moment, he rushed out. “Mr. Kraig DeVille, I am so sorry for the protocol. Welcome to our store. Is there anything you’d like, sir?”

Kraig's gaze drifted towards Jane, and then his gaze fell on the manager, "I'd like you to employ staffs that will represent this business."

Jane’s lashes trembled, seeing that the manager, after verifying the black card, was even more respectful towards Kraig.

She lowered her head instantly and bit her lips.

"We are so sorry, sir." The manager pleaded with Kraig again, but he didn't seem interested.

Kraig seemed impatient and stepped forward oppressively, "I need everything I picked and liked. Pack it all for me, Lilly."

"Yes, sir." Lily hurriedly starts packing Kraig's selected outfits in the shopping bags.

"Excuse me, sir, may I have the card now and initiate the payment?" The manager stretched his hand to receive the card.

"Very well then, excuse me."

"Here you go, sir?" Lily gave Kraig the shopping bags, and just before he took them, a man from behind interrupted,

"I will get them, sir."

His new guard grabbed the shopping bags from Lily, and they both walked out.

As Kraig and his guard walked out of the departmental store, leaving behind the astonished faces of the employees and customers, the manager immediately called for a meeting with the staff involved in the incident.

"You should be ashamed of yourselves," the manager reprimanded the elder assistant, Jane. "Your behavior towards Mr. DeVille was unacceptable, and it reflects poorly on this establishment."

Jane hung her head in shame, "I... I'm sorry, sir. I didn't know who he was."

The manager "That is not an excuse, Jane. You should treat every customer with respect and dignity, regardless of appearance. Effective immediately, you are relieved of your duties here."

Jane's eyes widened in shock, she immediately fell to her knees, but she was dragged out by security.

The manager turned to Lily, his expression softening. "As of now, you are promoted to a higher position within this store."

Lily's eyes widened in surprise. "Thank you, sir. I won't let you down."

Meanwhile, Mrs. Montgomery, who had been watching with great amusement, quickly turned in another direction when her gaze met the manager's.

"Excuse me, ma'am." The manager approached her. He grabbed her wrist and slowly pushed her backward, "Please, I need you and your partner to leave this store, and you will never be allowed in here again."

"But we didn't do anything." Mrs. Montgomery argued, "He was dressed like a pauper. He should have dressed up properly."

"Security!" The manager called out, and security led Mrs. Montgomery and her partner out of the store.

....

A luxurious car sports car, slowly drove inside the campus gate. Students would stop at the sight of the car, as the model was one that they'd only seen in commercials.

Kraig DeVille looked incomparably noble and was undoubtedly the focal point as he made his grand entrance.

His aura was extraordinary in his expensive wear.

As he drove towards his department, Kraig saw Wynn walking before him.

Wynn was indeed friends with Jade, but unlike Jade and her other friends, Wynn was someone who never supported her rude friends but would always result in peace.

On seeing her, a memory of Kraig suddenly flickered before his eyes.

He recalled that, on Jade's birthday, when he was greatly humiliated, the person who had to lend a hand to him to get on his feet was no other than Wynn.

Kraig pulled up in front of Wynn and said, "Hello, Wynn."

Wynn was stunned, shock flashed in her eyes, and then she chuckled, "Kraig?" She snickered in disbelief.

Kraig grunted in reply, "Hey, Wynn, want a ride?"

Wynn stood beside Kraig's car and smiled radiantly. Her eyes glimmered as she wouldn't stop check-in Kraig's car.

"Is this yours?"

Kraig nodded as he stared at her. The excitement on her face only made him realize just how beautiful Wynn was.

Her bespoke dress made her fair-tanned skin look flawless. She was radiant with a fatal attraction.

"Wow! This is lovely."

"Want a ride?" Kraig opened the door for Wynn, and for a moment, she pursed, staring into his eyes.

"Sure!"
