Chapter 3
Going deeper inside the bathroom, I was welcomed with my wife having sex with one of their company’s shareholders.
I can’t describe how I felt, but I started having a stuffy feeling in my chest and I found it hard to breathe… My breath became ragged.
It's a fake marriage, I know that, but we had an agreement, and it was clearly written in the contract that during the period of our fake marriage none of us was allowed to sleep with other people.
I have always abide by the contract’s rules, and this is how she repays me? By cheating on me? How could she do this? How dare she?
“What the fûck!!!” I wanted to roar, making sure the betrayal and anger I’m feeling none to them, but my voice failed me and it the words came out in a whisper.
But Susan heard me. She snapped her head towards me with a deep frown, but didn’t stop riding her cheating partner.
“How the fûck did you get here? What are you doing here?” Susan barked in rage.
Her reaction surprised me to the core, like she was caught doing a shameful act, and it’s expected she should be feeling guilty, but she’s obviously not.
I don’t know what came over me, her reaction seemed to have ignited a fire in me and I acted without my brain.
I grabbed Susan’s shoulder, roughly pulled her away from her partner in crime and took him unaware, landing a few, but hard punches on his face randomly without giving a fûck where my fist landed.
Susan couldn’t stand by and watch me beat up her partner, she quickly jumped in front of my fist when I was about landing another punch on the motherfûcker, and I stopped abruptly.
I clenched my jaws and fist as I tried to contain my anger.
“Explain this” I pointed between them. “Because I don’t bloody understand what the heck you’re happened here,” I gritted out breathlessly.
Instead of giving me the explanation that I demanded, she burst into a fit of laughter, as if I just did something amusing. How could she find this situation amusing?
“Why are you laughing?” I asked.
“You’ve become so bold” she said.
I suddenly felt a hot, stinging sensation pierced my face, and that’s when I realized I’ve been slapped.
The pain was immediate and intense, and I quickly held my cheek as I recoiled in shock. Did she just slap me because of another man?
Yes, I’m not her real husband, she doesn’t love me, but I’m lawfully recognized as her husband and that should accord me some respect.
“You think you can question my actions now, simply because we are married?” Her tone was filled with venom; I could sense her anger growing.
“You told me nobody can stop us” the man suddenly spoke up. “Now this good for nothing husband of yours didn’t allow me to ejaculate, I am so disappointed in you, Susan”
He was giving me a threatening glare as he spoke.
“I don’t know why you can’t keep this useless husband that you bought in check because what’s the meaning of this?” he asked, giving me a disgusted look, with each of his words cutting deep.
As the man spoke, his words were filled with disappointment and anger, his voice dripping with venom. I can bear my in-laws and wife calling me names, but now outsiders are starting to follow the lead?
I felt like punching the man again, I wanted to punch him to death. However, I knew I needed to stay calm and think rationally.
“I am deeply sorry, my love. I never knew he had become this bold. Please forgive me,” Susan apologized.
Her previous angered expression morphed into a seductive smile. I couldn’t understand how she was able to switch emotions so quickly.
“Why are you still keeping this man? You don’t even love him, right?”
I couldn’t help but wonder if he knew our marriage was fake.
“No” she answered quickly. “I don’t love him, not at all. How can I love this?”
This? I’m just this to her?
“I married him when I was desperate for a husband” she said.
He frowned as he waited for her to elaborate on her words.
“You know, five years ago during the board meeting my dad talked about making me the president of the company, but many shareholders were against him because I wasn’t married yet, they said I’m still not matured to be in the president’s seat”
He nodded as an encouragement to continue.
“They made me promise to get married within a year, before I could become the president” she paused and glared at me disgustingly. “And that’s how I ended up with this nuisance” she explained.
Nuisance. My heart twigged when she called me a nuisance.
Her partner sighed, he pulled her into a hug and planted a kiss on her lips.
“You didn’t tell me about this five years ago, I’d have married you” he told her.
“They wouldn’t have agreed to our union, they’d think we had a hidden agenda” she replied.
Did they forget I’m still here? Or have I become invisible?
“Well, they can’t say anything now. Divorce him and let’s get married” his impatience was evident in his tone as he said this.
Susan’s response was hesitant, revealing the complexities of their situation.
“Yeah, I know you’re ready to marry me and I don’t love him a bit, but I can’t divorce him that easily, you know who my father is. He will never allow that because he doesn’t know our marriage is a contract marriage.”
Albert moved away from her and walked closer to me, with a mischievous smirk on his lips.
Then the situation took a dark turn, as Albert suggested a chilling and eerie course of action.
“Should we just kill him? I am very sure it will be effortless to remarry when he’s dead,” he said, looking around the room frantically.
His eyes landed on an object in a corner, which he was happy about, and quickly snatched it.
Unexpectedly, I reacted too slowly, and he successfully landed the object on my head with great force. It happened so fast that I didn’t see what the object was, but I know that it’s metal.
Susan came to my side and I thought she wanted to check on me, but I was wrong. Her next words shocked me.
“No, babe. I know what to do,” she said, moving closer and dragging me up by my ear and began dragging me out of the room.
I wanted to do something, but I couldn’t risk the money I had worked for over the past five years.
I knew better than to talk back to Susan.
“Where are we taking him to?” her partner asked.
“Just follow me” she replied, and dragged me down a quiet hallway… I guess we’re going outside, and she intends to use the back door.
As they arrived at the car, Susan kicked me in the stomach, causing me to double over in pain.
“How dare you barge in on me? What gave you the right to do that? Who the hell do you think you are? You made my baby angry,” her face was red with anger, her eyes narrowing into slits.
“But it was written in the contract not to cheat on each other,” I managed to say, and she burst into laughter.
“Did you think the contract is for me to abide? No, it’s for you, I am the one paying you here, I can do whatever I want, but you can’t” her voice boomed through the garage, each word sharp with fury and I clinched my fist angrily.
“What are you trying to do? Are you trying to show me, you’re man enough” she said, and I felt the searing heat of her hand on my cheek, my head jerking to the side with the force of the blow?
“Let’s just divorce, I am not interested In this marriage anymore,” I stated, my voice strained with emotion.
It's better I end this marriage of a thing before I fall in love with this bitch here with a scowl on her face.
“Divorce? How dare you say that word easily?” her nails digging into her purse, her eyes flashing with anger.
“We aren’t divorcing until I am tired, you don’t tell me what to do, unless you don’t need your money, don’t try to behave like you have a say I am the boss here” she says leaning back in on the car, crossing her arms in defiance and I scoffed,
“I don’t need your money anymore, I am ready to start over again, without penny, I am ready to leave this slave life.” I yelled, my heart racing with the thrill of the unknown, my hands shaking with excitement for a new life.
CHAPTER 4STEPHEN’S POV“What did you just let out of that rickety mouth of yours?” Susan slurred despite the shocked look on her face. She’s apparently trying hard to give out the usual ‘boss lady’ demeanor, but her brows betrayed her. They trembled slightly, and that flickering moment, I couldn’t help but let out a smirk as I grew bolder and said the next words.“I don’t need your money anymore! It’s time I end my slavery! I can’t continue like this, ok? Go find another dog to put on your leach! It’s over!” I yelled out with all the boldness left in me, then I proceeded to push her away from myself. She staggered and would have fell hard if the car weren’t behind her to stop the fall. And I held her shoulders tightly, a new surge of boldness flowing in my bloodstream as my fingers almost dug into her skin. She was looking at me shockingly, but at the same time, she kept her alpha look intact, she’s not one who gets shaken easily anyway.“Get your filthy hands off me, vermin! You won
CHAPTER 5Saying the last statement that left my mouth was like breaking an ice that has stayed frozen for centuries. The shocked look on Mr. Clinton’s face was second time to none, a perfect replica of the one on his wife’s.They were both looking stupefied, but to say Susan was shocked would be an understatement, she’s beyond shocked, and she was the first to sprang up.“What are you talking about? Contract… Marriage… Not … Your… Baby? “The words fell out of her mouth senselessly, and the way she bit her lip hard after stuttering them showed she knew how foolish she just sounded. The cat has been let out of the bag, and there’s definitely no way to put this back together again.“What’s going on?” Mr. Clinton finally spoke, standing up slowly. He held his walking stick tighter with his right hand while his left hand removed his glasses, and he narrowed his eyes, seeking an answer from the two.“I just asked a question! What’s going on! Contract marriage? Not your baby? “ He yelled i
Chapter 6STEPHEN P.O.V“Isn't it highly time you returned home, sir Stephen?” she said.“Excuse me?” I replied.I was both annoyed and perplexed by her question. Like, how the fûck could she ask someone she met at a party such a question? Her soft chuckle from the other end reminded me that the call hadn't ended yet. “I know you're confused, sir”Can someone please ask her to stop addressing me as *sir?*“But let's meet, and you'll understand everything better” her voice was filled with eagerness and hope as she said this. Not knowing what to do, and I didn't want to prolong this conversation, I simply nodded my head, but quickly muttered “yes” when I realized she couldn't see me nodding. There's no harm in investigating this woman's motive, right?“I'll send you the address immediately we hang up. Let's meet in a few hours' time,”Hold up… I hope I'm not going to regret this? Because, why do I sense so much urgency in her words?“Alright, let's do that,” I said, still perplexed by
Chapter 7STEPHEN P.O.V“Why me?” The word flew out of my mouth, and she responded with a chuckle. “It's simple. He offended you, he should apologize, and you should decide whether to keep him or not since you're the heir,” she explained.Heir? I'm the heir? Heir of what? The man quickly turned to me and fell on his knees.“I'm deeply sorry, sir. Please forgive me. I didn't know who you are, I didn't know you are an important personnel,” he said, his tone very apologetic. I scoffed at his statement, realizing he was missing the point. No one is entitled to insult or embarrass anyone based on their status. Everyone is equal before God and the law.“I'm deeply sorry, sir, please forgive me” he lamented.Another drama…I have had enough of dramas today to last a lifetime.“You may rise” I reached forward to help him up. “I have forgiven you, but you must learn to treat everyone equally. We are all equal, and you must ensure this does not happen again” I said firmly. He quickly nodded h
Chapter 8STEPHEN P.O.VAm I ready? I've been through a lot, I've been to hell and back. I shouldn't let this opportunity pass, I can't let this opportunity pass. There are numerous things about me that I want to find out, there are numerous mistakes I wish to correct in my life, and if working at this company can provide that opportunity, then I am fully prepared.“I'm ready” I responded with determination. Karen let out a loud, relieved breath. It's obvious she was holding her breath, she feared what my answer would be.“I was afraid you might not be ready” she said, “The chairman is getting older, and it is crucial for him to pass on the responsibilities to his child. And thankfully, you appeared at the perfect time, and it will undoubtedly bring positive changes to your life and status,” Karen expressed, her words filling me with happiness. Just hearing this news was enough to brighten my day."So sorry for not offering you anything, I was just too happy to see you" she says.
Chapter 9STEPHEN P.O.VShe was taken aback by my request. Her eyes widened, and her jaw dropped slightly as she processed what I had just asked. “What did you mean? You can't do such a thing,” she exclaimed, her voice tinged with disbelief.I opened my mouth and was ready to enlighten her, but she didn't give me any chance.“Do you want the chairman to grill me? I can't accept that, it's not possible,” she said, her tone filled with a mix of anger and disbelief, firmly rejecting my offer. In response, I paused, considering her objections and also thinking of ways to convince her.“Come to think of it, I can't take over the company like this,” I stated thoughtfully. “I know nothing about the business world. If I'm truly the heir like you said, then I must learn from the root” I explained calmly.Karen nodded thoughtfully at my words, which encouraged me to continue. “So, I think working as a cleaner will be better, It'll make me familiar with the workers and the environment,” I add
I was taken aback when I saw Albert, Susan's cheating partner, standing in front of me. Words like philanderer and home wrecker came to mind as I tried to process the situation. In the character’s point of view, the description could go something like this:I was frozen in place, unable to comprehend what I was seeing. There he was, the man who impregnate nmy ex wife, the man who have been sleeping with my wife, sitting right in front of me. I couldn’t believe it. I felt like the ground had been pulled out from under me. However, I knew I had to maintain professionalism, even though deep down I felt this guy didn't deserve my respect. "I am here to work," I responded, attempting to remain respectful despite my conflicting emotions. "You being a worker here? That's a joke, right?" she scoffed, her disbelief evident. "How did you even manage to get a work here? Who in their right mind advised you to come here as an intern?"I took a deep breath, refusing to let his condescending tone
"Drag him out," he barked, his words causing me to fight back horselaugh. Who did this fool suppose he was, ordering people around to forcefully remove me? "Are you certain you want to go through with this?" I queried, meeting his furious aspect "What are you all standing around for? Drag this imbecile out of my office now!" he screamed, egging the guards to fleetly approach me. Digging into my fund, I recaptured the appointment letter given to me by Mrs. Karen. I extended it towards him, watching as a mixture of surprise and unbelief flashed across his face. His eyes widened in shock, his jaw slackening ever so slightly as he took in the sight of the appointment letter in my outstretched hand. I could see the astonishment marshland over his face, rendering him temporarily speechless. A profound sense of unbelief sounded to stamp his former address, as if he could not sound the possibility that I had some licit claim to be there. The color drained from his face, leaving a pal
