"What do you mean by he is nowhere to be found?" Jayden asked. He couldn't lose him. He was so close to finally closing this case and getting the promotion he needed and now the prime suspect was no where to be found? He couldn't let that happen.

"We can't find him anywhere in the house sir."

"Did you check the basement? Where I told you the suspect is being held?" Jayden inquired.

"Yes, I checked everywhere. Used the password you gave me to gain access to the room and finally got it open but I still can't find him. He cleared out the basement."

"And what about the suspect? Where is he?"

"There is no one in the basement. If there was a suspect there before, he isn't there anymore."

"What?!" Levi asked.

"I saw him yesterday evening. How could he be gone?" He didn't understand what was going on. Couldn't wrap his head around everything he was hearing.

Brittany stood with open mouth, wondering if truly the policeman was right and Mark was actually the person behind it all.
