Chapter Sixty six

Charles’ eyelids fluttered open as he gained consciousness. He looked around, and noticed he was in a hospital. He felt relieved that Vera acted fast on the issue.

Vera noticed he was awake, and moved closer to him, with an expression of worry.

“Are you okay now? How are you feeling?” She asked, out of concern.

Charles managed to sit up, although with little pains here and there.

“I’m much better, I guess. Thanks for helping me before it became too late.”

“You’re welcome. So, what happened?” Vera asked, out of curiosity.

“I really don’t know. All I know is I felt really weak, and dizzy as soon as I got home.”

The doctor came in before Charles could continue speaking, and silence reigned except for the taps which the doctor’s shoes made.

“Good evening, Mr. Lincoln. How are you feeling now?” The doctor questioned, with a slight smile.

“I’m much better, doctor. What does the test say about my condition?” Charles asked as he noticed the papers in the doctor’s hands.
