David was dragged through the empty academy’s halls by Flani.
“Where are you taking me?” asked David as Flani continued to drag him.
“The room you’ll be staying in while you are allowed to stay within the academy’s walls” said Flani.
Flani dragged David through the hallway, passing different rooms.
As they walked through the hall way David noticed strange symbols on the doors on some of the rooms they passed, some had a symbol of fire, some of earth, some of water and others of air.
“Why are they symbols on those doors?” asked David.
“Those doors lead to the rooms where the students of the academy stay, the ones with the fire symbol are for fire dragon warriors, water for water dragon warriors, and earth for earth dragon warriors. All the students in the academy are currently fast asleep, observing the curfew, all students of the academy are expected to fast asleep before the tenth hour at night” said Flani.
Flani then took him to one of the rooms that had an air symbol on it.
“This is where you’ll be staying” said Flani as she brought out the room keys and unlocked the room door.
They then went into the room.
The room was small, dark and empty, having only a small bed place by the corner of the window with the only source of light being the moonlight that came from the window.
“This is the only room left for wind dragon warriors” said Flani as she handed the key to the room to David.
“I suggest that you get settled in” said Flani before she left David alone in the small room.
David just sighed before going to the window.
Looking out the window David began to think about where he was, the Dragon Academy, from what Binaru told him it was meant to a school for the best of the best, meant only for exceptional Dragon Warriors.
As David’s mind filled up with thoughts about the Dragon Academy he began to wonder if he deserved to be there, after all he still believed he was an ordinary air dragon warrior.
David, still looking out the window saw the Temple of The Golden Dragon Warrior and as he looked at it, he felt something calling out to him from within the temple, like a force drawing him there.
David could not explain or describe it; all he knew was that he felt it.
David, after spending a while looking at the temple decided to ignore it, telling himself that it was just his mind playing tricks on him.
David then lied down on the bed and upon lying down realized that the bed was covered with dust so he used the power of the wind to blow all the dust away so he could sleep well.
As he slowly drifted away to sleep, he had dream.
In the dream, he heard the woman once more saying, “I’ll come back for you, I promise”.
But this time as the woman spoke David saw a small glimpse of her, it was enough for him to know who she was but David was able to see her neck and a golden locket which the wore on it.
The golden locket on the woman’s neck had the symbol on a dragon on it.
The locket then began to glow with a blinding golden light and then David woke up with the last thing he saw from the dream being the golden light that came from the locket.
David upon waking, lied on his bed for a few moments, thinking about the dream he had, wondering what it meant.
He thought about the woman, the golden locket on her neck and the Temple of The Golden Dragon Warrior wondering what kind of connection he must have had with all of them to dream about them all.
David tried his best to convince himself that it was just a dream but something him just wouldn’t allowing him to lie to himself as deep down he knew it wasn’t just a dream but he since he was unable to make sense of it, he thought it would be best if he ignored it while trying desperately to convince himself it was all just a meaningless dream.
David come out of his deep thought upon hearing a knock on the door.
He then realized that it was morning and that day was his first day as a student, be it unofficial, of the Dragon Academy.
David then got up and rushed straight to the door and then opened it.
Standing on the other side of the door was a girl about his age, where the uniform of the Dragon Academy which had the symbol of a wind dragon on it, girl was also holding another pair of the academy’s uniform on her hands.
“You’re David, right?” asked the girl.
“Yes” said David wondering how the girl knew who he was.
“Good, put this on and quickly” said the girl as she gave David the uniform she was carrying.
“Okay” said David a bit confused as he began to wonder who the girl was.
David then went in to his room to wear the uniform the girl gave him.
“Hurry up, we don’t have all day” said the girl who was busy waited outside for David while he put on the uniform.
David soon came out; neatly dressed wearing the uniform the girl gave him.
“Took you long enough” said Flora as David came out of his room.
“Alright then, now you’re dressed follow me” said the girl before she began to walk away from David.
David, not knowing what else to do followed the girl.
“Who are you?” asked David to girl, wanting to know who she was.
“My name is Flora, I’m one of the students of the Dragon Academy and the Head master assigned me to show you around,” said the girl.
“Oh, you’re a student here. What kind of dragon warrior are you?” asked David.
“Isn’t it obvious” said Flora as she pointed at the symbol on her uniform which looked like a wind dragon.
“Oh, a wind dragon, so, am I?” said David.
“No kidding, why do you think I gave you the academy uniform for air dragon warriors,” said Flora.
David then looked at the symbol on his own uniform and saw that it was the same one on Flora’s uniform.
“Oh, I see,” said David.
Flora who was get immensely annoyed by David’s question said, “please stop talking, there are a million and one thing I would rather be doing than having to babysit you so would please make this a little more bearable by not talking”.
David upon hearing what Flora said nodded his head nervously in agreement, fearing the Flora’s temper.
“Good” said Flora with a deadly glare in her eyes that made David fear her even more.
Flora and David roamed the academy halls with Flora leading the way, she led David through the hallway to the dining room where all the student of the Dragon Academy.
David, upon reaching there and seeing all the students eating felt his stomach growl and grumble out of hunger.
Flora smiled slightly upon hearing David’s hungry stomach.
“Your stomach sounds like you haven’t eaten in day,” said Flora.
“Yeah, it gets like that some time especially when I haven’t had breakfast” said David with a playful smile, feeling a little embarrassed about the way his stomach growled.
Flora upon hearing what David said about his stomach smiled a little, finding it amusing that if he ever skipped breakfast his stomach would growl and grumble like thunder.
“Come on, let’s get you something to eat,” said Flora.
Flora and David then got some food and sat down on one of the free tables in the room.
“So, David, where are you from” asked Flora while she and David ate their food.
“A small village called Dugrunal,” said David.
“Dugrunal, never heard of it,” said Flora.
“I’m not surprised, it’s pretty far from here,” said David.
“Alright then, so are the other dragon warriors in Dugrunal” asked Flora.
“I’m not really sure,” said David.
“What?” asked Flora shocked upon hearing what David said?
“I’m not really sure” said David once again.
“How can’t you be sure, it’s your home, shouldn’t you know something as simple as who are the people that lives there” asked Flora.
“I lived with a woman name Abari in Dugrunal and all the time I spent there I spent with her alone. I never really got to know much about the people that lived there,” said David.
“But didn’t you have neighbors, family members, anybody who came to visit” asked Flora.
“Nope, I mean people did come to visit but only when they were sick or badly hurt,” said David.
“What? Why would people come to visit you only when they were hurt?” asked Flora shocked to hear people only came to visit David only when they were hurt or sick.
“Because Abari is a healer she helped them all get better after they got hurt or sick. I never really got a chance to find out if the people there were dragon warriors or just normal people,” said David.
“I’ve met a lot of people in my life but you are by far the strangest person I’ve met ever David” said Flora upon hearing everything David said, still not sure how David could live in a village without knowing if the people living in that village were dragon warriors.
“Okay” said David not entirely sure whether to take what Flora said as a compliment or an insult.
“Hey Flora” said a girl as she approached the table where Flora and David were sitting on along with two other boys, one wearing a pair of black spectacles and the other had an angry and bitter expression on his face.
The girl wore a uniform similar to David’s and Flora’s except hers had the symbol of a water dragon instead of that of a wind dragon which meant she was a water dragon warrior; the boys wore uniforms as well except the angry looking one had the symbol of a red fire dragon on his as he was a fire dragon warrior and the one with the spectacles had an earth dragon symbol on his as he was an earth dragon warrior.
“Hey Flora, can we seat here” asked the girl with warm smile on her face.
“You two can but Mr. Hot Head can’t” said Flora while glaring at the angry looking boy who smiled with a sinister grin upon seeing Flora’s glare.
“Come Flora, don’t be like that. We are all friends aren’t we” said angry looking boy before attempting to seat down on table with Flora and David.
But Flora, using the power of wind, pushed him to the ground before seat down.
“Friendship isn’t exactly how I would define our relationship,” said Flora.
The boy with spectacle couldn’t help but laugh a little upon seeing the way Flora sent the other boy to the ground using the power the wind.
“Come Flora, don’t be like that” said the girl as she went to angry looking boy and helped him up.
“Fine, you all can seat but if he starts making trouble” said Flora filled with rage and anger, so much so that her eyes turned into white dragon eyes, scaring a little David a little.
“I’ll show him just how deadly the wind can be” said Flora with rage in her voice as she spoke.
The boy just smiled upon seeing the angry look her face before saying, “what’s the worse you can do, sent a gentle breeze my way”.
The boy’s words made Flora’s blood boil but just decide to ignore him for now knowing that if she was to fight him there in the dining room it would lead to her getting to trouble with the Head master, even though every fiber of her being wanted to teach the boy a lesson she couldn’t do anything to him.
The girl, the spectacle wearing boy and the angry looking boy then sat on the table alone aside David and Flora.
Soon they were served their food and began to eat.
“Who’s the he?” asked the angry looking boy pointing at David who heard remained silent since he, the girl and the spectacle wearing boy had arrived.
Flora ignored the boy’s, pretending not hear it which infuriated him.
“I asked a question, who’s he” said the boy once again but Flora still refused to reply.
The boy finally decided to stop asking Flora and then focused his attention on David.
“What’s your name kid?” asked Steven.
“Kid, but you don’t look that old. How old are you? You look like you’re about my age” said David which enrages the boy.
“I didn’t ask of an age?” said the boy.
“But you called me kid implying that your older but you don’t look older or are you one of those people that look younger than their actual age,” said David.
David’s reply to the boy’s question made everyone seated on the table laugh, even Flora who had shown only one emotion since she and David met (anger) laughed as well.
“Do you have any brains in that head of yours,” said the angry boy.
“What kind of question is that, of course I have a brain don’t you have one as well” said David, making everyone in the table laugh once again.
The boy was not filled so much rage that his entire boy began to turn red and heat up.
“What’s that smell? Wait you’re burning up. I can you help cool down” said David upon realizing that the boy was heating upon, he then grabbed a cup of water and poured it on the boy’s face.
The heat from the boy’s body turned the water in to steam immediately it reached it body causing him to look at David with a look of pure rage and anger in his eyes.
The boy looked like he wanted to kill David.
“Why you…” the boy got up to attack David but was stopped by Flora saying, “do that and you’ll get in to trouble and considering your past history of violence your punishment would probably be expulsion from the academy. Now imagine what would happen if your parents heard that you got expelled from the academy”.
The boy upon hearing what Flora said decided to leave him alone.
“I just lost my appetite” said the boy, glaring at David before leaving.
David then sighed out of relief as the boy left, scared that the boy would have done something if Flora did intervene.
“That wasn’t very smart you know,” said Flora.
David upon hearing what Flora said smiled before saying, “yeah I know but I figured if I annoyed him enough, he would leave, I didn’t think he would go as far as fight me”.
“Lucky for you Flora saved you, Steven is one of the most dangerous students in the academy. Everyone who has ever crossed him ended up in the academy infirmary, he has been in more fights than anyone other student in the academy and each of those fight ended with him beating the person that had dared to fight half to death” said the boy with spectacle.
David upon hearing what the boy with spectacles said felt his heart beat faster with fear, feeling more grateful to Flora for saving him from the boy.
“Thank you so much Flora, if it wasn’t for you, I would have been as good as dead,” said David.
“No worries, besides seeing the look on Steven’s face before he left was priceless” said Flora with a smile on his face.
“Flora, don’t be mean, his still my twin brother you know,” said the girl.
“What? That guy is your brother” said David shocked to hear that girl that seemed so kind and sweet had such an angry, bitter and troublesome brother.
“Yes, he is and he isn’t such bad guy, he can be a little nice sometimes,” said the girl.
“Steven being nice, that’s like saying fire doesn’t burn” said Flora before she and the boy with black spectacles began to laugh.
David though, refused to laugh along with Flora and the spectacle wearing boy, focusing only the girl who bowed her head with sadness as Flora and the spectacle wearing by laughed at the idea of her brother being nice.
David upon seeing the sad look on her face felt bad and wanted nothing more than to make her smile.
“Hey, I’m sorry for what I did to your brother” said David to the girl.
“Why are you saying sorry, technically you didn’t do anything wrong apart from pouring water on him,” said the girl.
“Yeah, I guess I didn’t, did I” said David with a playful smile causing the girl to smile slightly.
“You’re funny,” said the girl.
“Well, my aim was to make you smile after all” said David which caused the girl to giggles a little.
“What’s your name” asked the girl.
“David, yours?” asked David.
“Susan” said the girl.
“That’s a really nice name, I was expecting some that like Marin, Watan” said David jokingly.
“You’re the one to talk, David isn’t exactly the name of an air dragon warrior, why weren’t you call windy or Airno” asked Susan playfully.
“Don’t know, I would have loved having a name like Airno though” said David jokingly causing Susan to giggle once again.
David upon seeing Susan giggle could help but smile.
Susan didn’t seem to be as angry or bitter about anything, she was kind with a warm heart, something David couldn’t help but admire about her.
Soon the sound a loud bell echoed through entire academy, then one by one the students finished their meals and left, and before David could or say anything, Susan was gone, leaving and then disappearing within the crowd of students that were leaving.
David thought about looking for in the crowd but was stop from doing so by Flora grabbing hold of his hand and dragging him out of the dining room.
As David left with Flora, he couldn’t help but feel sad and hoped that he would be opportune to see Susan once again within the walls of the academy.
The academy, though could be consider a single school made for young dragon warriors, it was actually made up of different schools within it, these schools were designed to teach and train specific dragon warriors. The school of water trained water dragon warriors like Susan, the school of fire trained fire dragon warriors like Steven, the angry boy that almost fought David, the school of earth trained earth dragon warriors like the boy with black spectacle and finally the air school thought air dragon warriors like David and Flora. Flora had shown David the other schools of the Dragon Academy, explaining what they were and warning him to never go to any other school apart from the school for air dragon warriors as students were not allowed to interfere in the affairs of any other school apart from theirs. David felt bad upon hearing that he couldn’t go to the other schools, wanting to explore more about the Dragon Academy and also to maybe pay a visit to Susan in the water school.
Once they returned back to the Dragon Academy Flora informed David that they had one more class to go to, combat class, the all class every student from the different schools of the Dragon Academy had to attend. David upon hearing that there was a class where all the students of the Dragon Academy were allowed to attend together became excited as it meant he would be able to see Susan again. Flora took David to combat class, once there David saw that all students in the academy had gathered there. The students there were participating in different forms of combat practice, whether it was in the form of light sparring, weapon training or practicing their combat skills on a fighting dummy. David looked at the students as they practiced their combat training and couldn’t help but wonder why the academy would want to train their students in the art of combat. David did not really understand the concept of violence and it was because of this lack of understanding that drove his curios
After the combat class Flora, along with Susan and Akiri took David to the library, the final destination of David’s tour around the academy. “Wow” said David upon seeing the massive tree size shelves filled with hundreds of thousands of books. “That’s a lot of books” said David as he had never before seen so many books gathered in one place. “Yeah, everything about the long history of the dragon warrior from the late Elementary wars to present day has been carefully recorded and stored in these books” said Akiri. “Elementary Wars?” asked David wondering what the later Elementary Wars were. Akiri was about to answer David but Flora stopped him, knowing that if Akiri started talking they would be stuck in the library all day listening to Akiri’s history lesson about the Elementary wars. “No need Akiri, heaven only knows I can’t take another one of your long and boring lectures. David, the Elementary wars was a war that happened thousands of years ago, back then the dragon warrior
It was lunch time and David made his way to the dining room where all the other students went to have their lunch. Once there David was greeted by Flora, calling out to him and inviting him to seat with her alone with, Susan and Akiri on their table. David smiled upon seeing them and then went to seat with them. “How was your meeting with the Head master?” asked Flora with a playful smile on his face. “Stressful and I can’t believe you described me as a simple idiot to the Head master” said David, still a bit offended about how Flora described him to the Head master. “You actually did that Flora, that’s cold even for you” said Akiri shocked upon hearing what Flora said about David. “Hey, I never called you an idiot, I simply state that you lack basic knowledge which you do but it’s not like that’s the only thing I said about you,” said Flora. “Yeah, I guess you’re right” said David with a playful smile at Flora. “Why did the Head master want to see you anyway?” asked Susan a b
David roamed through the academy halls before finally reaching his destination, the Head master’s office. He could hear the Head master reprimanding Steven from within the office, saying her disappointed his parents would be with him upon hearing what he did.Steven remained silent, uttering no words and just allowing the Head master to continue, he was used to hearing the Head master and so many others in the academy talking about how much of a disappointment he was, it wasn’t new information to him.Steven still felt a great deal of sadness and regretted over his actions to so degree, he didn’t regret what he did to David because in his mind he deserved everything that happened and then some.Steven wanted nothing more than to hurt David for daring to say he was shocked to hear that his, Akiri’s and Flora’s parents were the Golden Dragon Generals because in his mind he was judge them all, seeing them as to weak to be the children of the Golden Dragon Generals, and if there anything
David made his way back to his room.He tried opening the door with his arm only to wince in pain upon touching the door’s handle. It turned out that the hand he used to touch the door was the same hand Steven burnt when he shook David.David just looked at his burnt hand and sighed before opening the door with his other hand.He went to his room and immediately collapsed on his bed, worn out and tired because of everything he had gone through in just his first day of school.David then began to think about how he managed to make three friends (Akiri, Flora and Susan) and apparently one enemy (Steven).David sighed as he began to think about Steven, wondering what his problem was, he had saved him from being expelled from the academy and instead of being grateful to him Steven’s anger towards him only grew more.David didn’t know what to do.He didn’t want to have Steven as an enemy; he didn’t want to even have an enemy in general. He was raised and taught by Abari to be friendly and
David, in his air form blew out of the academy, reforming outside the academy gates and hoping nobody would see or noticed he was gone he ran in the forest, headed straight for the Temple of The Golden Dragon Warrior. Araban arose from his slumber, sensing something in the air that woke him up. Araban then got up from his bed and upon doing so, Steven who was still awake, lying on the fall turned to him. “Why are you here, old man?” asked Steven. “One of the students has left the safety of the academy. I have to retrieve them” said Araban. “How do you know?” asked Steven. “The wind told me and it never lies” said Araban as he got up. “Get up” said Araban. “What?” said Steven upon hearing Araban asking him to get up? “You’re coming with me, to help me catch the student” said Araban. “What? Why?” asked Steven, not wanting to follow Araban to forest so late at night. “Because I said so, now get up” said Araban with a strict voice and an ice-cold glare. Steven upon seeing Arab
David woke up the next day and saw that he was in a strange room, lying down on a bed. “Where am I?” David asked himself while looking around, trying to figure out where he was. “You’re in the academy’s infirmary,” said a voice. David then turned around and saw a woman standing not too far away from him. “I’m Boma, the academy’s healer,” said the woman. “What happened, why am I here?” said David. “You are here because Araban found you after hearing an explosion come from the Temple of The Golden Dragon Warrior. And as for why you’re here, well nobody can answer that but you” said Boma. David then took breath before he began to remember what happened the other night. He remembered going to the temple and touching its door, after that he remembered feeling a strange power flow through his entire body but everything after that was blurry and unclear. Boma then quickly examined David’s body to see if he was alright. “Well, nothing seems to be broken. It seems like whatever happe
