Chapter 8(The Blood Party)

“There is no party like Logan's party” This slogan has stuck in Denor city for seventy-eight years, since Logan's very existence.

The Wade are one of the most powerful and influential families in Denor city. As a part of the Seven keys of Denor city, they were literally untouchable.

Tonight, like every other Logan's party, celebrities, politicians, business men and privileged diginatries could be seen swarming in and out of the Wade luxurious mansion. Everyone had on themselves, costumes and masks.

Outside the building were cars of different calibres, the majority being worth millions of dollars.

Everyone was in the party for a reason, ranging from making necessary connections to finding favour in the eyes of Logan to having fun.

The buildings were lurked with tight security especially the area where the heirloom is kept.

“The Goblet of life, the last goblet used by Pharaoh himself, gifted by the Marshmallows.”

“The Jaral Tea of Chiro. The last of its kind, a tea made by the greatest Empress, Jaral Qui. Gifted by the Harolds.

The Manenc de Venta, the last wine of king Duran de Venta. A gift by the Saints.”

The beautiful female presenter's voice echoed enthusiastically from the middle of the Hall room.

Everyone including the Teleimans bought a gift for Mr. Logan hoping to find favor in his eyes. Mr Logan could be seen at the podium grinning from ear to ear.

Deep into the party, the presenter's voice emerged again. This time it was followed by joyous screams and shouts from the distinguished guests.

It was time to exhibit the Heirloom, the most valuable possession in Denor city and beyond. It was one of the prized moments of the party.

Just then, four burly looking men appeared, each having their strong grip on a sophisticated transparent case. As they approached the podium, the screams and joyous voices increased.

Just when the party was getting fun, the big hallroom door opened, drawing everyone’s attention to a man in a weird looking mask that only had his eyes covered. It was Redmond Red in flesh and blood. He was there to reward a family according to their deeds.

“Wait! Wait! Am yet to present my gift to the great Logan.” He yelled as he sauntered towards Mr. Logan with grit.

Murmurs and gasps erupted from the crowd. “Are you just waking up folk?”

“Did your boss finally let you off?”

“Take your gift to your poor girlfriend. Nobody cares!”

The guests mocked avidly as each joke ended up in a bout of laughter.

Redmond was too focused to pay attention to their baseless joke after all it is a fucking party.

He stopped right before Logan and his family. Right there he brought out a sword. This caused everyone to panic but Mr Logan didn't, he was calm as still waters.

“Sword of Vengeance Mr. Logan…”

“Are we going to pretend that this guy isn't bullshit?” Javier Wade, Mr Logan's third son commented with a smugish look.

“Hey psycho, step off and go have fun somewhere else.” Hernandez Wade, Logan's fourth son, threatened as he sprung up from his seat. He was very muscular and said to be a Taekwondo and judo specialist. He was easily, a master of physical combat.

Near enough, he stretched his hand to push Redmond off but in split seconds, his forearm was sharply separated from his body. It was executed with so much speed and precision that no one actually saw Redmond raise his sword.

Arrrgh!

Blood gushed from his exposed arm like water from a tap. This created ripples of chaos as everyone started shouting, panicking and crying. It was a gore sight to behold.

“Guards! Guards!” Alarmed, Logan yelled on top of his voice. But that was when the coldest thing happened.

None of the said guards including those that were standing right before the Heirloom moved an inch. They were cold and motionless like a standing statue.

Just then, all the guards positioned at various locations around and within the building started falling, each making tud sounds on landing the floor, lifeless.

Redmond has smitten them like an assassin. That was a trademark strike that accorded him the title of the Greatest assassin.

This triggered a chain reaction of panic and disorder as everyone took to their heels, some fainted while others hid.

In few seconds, it was Logan standing before Redmond. He was able to maintain a blank expression but deep inside he was battling soldiers of panic, anxiety, and fear.

“As we were saying before the sudden interruption by the unfortunate muscle man,

This is a sword of Vengeance from the family that was burnt fifteen years ago.”

Hearing this, he opened his eyes wide. Hot sweat dropped from his forehead, his white face reddened while he struggled to stand. He could feel his knee about to buckle, truly, it was like the soldiers of panic, anxiety and fear had conquered him for what was before Redmond was a scared little kitten.

Redmond smiled and smashed his face, dropping him on the floor as he whimpered and writhed in pain. His family were nowhere to be seen. They have hid away from plain sight.

Logan was a strong man, despite his age, he was able to withstand the hit as he sought to stand on his feet. “Save yourself young man. Leave and I promise to turn a blind eye to everything that happened here. I'm the last man that you will want to go against.” He threatened despite his obvious struggle. He was never one to surrender or made to bow to anyone.

“That's if you make it alive today.” Redmond kicked him on his jaw, before cutting off his two hands. Logan could be seen crying and begging for death. It was too much pain to bear for the old man.

Not satisfied, Redmond found a wine and poured it on him before bringing out a lighter. He stared coldly at the dying man who had himself soaked in his pool of blood.

Cries could be heard from his family members but no one dared move towards him lest they suffer the same fate as him.

“Ple..ase, plea.. don't kill me.”

“Don't worry, I won't kill you. All I will do is to lit the lighter and boom, your fate will be decided.” With a solemn voice and stare, Redmond said, “This is for Nanny Naomi and my fifteen family members that died that day.”

He released the lighter and an eye scorching sight was seen as a man, the celebrant yelled and echoed in a flame of fire.

He grabbed the Heirloom and left. He had entered the party like a joker but he was leaving like a god, for they were afraid to set their human eyes on him.

The Wade family like everyone else was shocked down to their marrow except that they were more distraught as a result of their loss.

It was without doubt, the highest level of intimidation and humiliation encountered by any part of the Seven keys. It was unbelievable that a man can single handedly destroy the Wade family.

“Is there anything we can do Aunt?” Late Logan's only daughter, Fiona asked with her eyes swollen with tears.

“Nothing dear, all we need to do is wait for Livramento. He will know what to do.” Aunt Gena's sad voice emerged as she struggled to hold those tears. As Logan's only surviving sibling, she must have regretted not being at the party.

Gena wasn't an ordinary woman. She was the stronger and more mischievous one. She was rumoured to have killed every man that she has ever slept with. She was powerful and influential.

Few moments later, the mansion was flooded with security officials, journalists and medical personnels. Five helicopters appeared from nowhere. On the helicopters was the symbol of two human femurs crossed between a skull.

Good sum of soldiers alighted from the air flight, escorting a bald, tall man whose statue and look can slain its enemies. It was Livramento Wade, Lord Logan's second son.

At the sight of him, a glimpse of hope resonated within them.

Without dropping a smile or saying anything, he walked towards the ashes, the remains of his dear father. He swallowed hard, his face contorting into a murderous one. “A cruel fate, father. You must forgive me for not being there for you but I swear to avenge your death.” He swore with a blood thirsty countenance.

He turned to his family and asked, “Do anyone know who did this?” They couldn't reply because no one could tell for the culprit had his face masked.

“You failed, father. You should have been here when all this was happening.” Javier cried out. He was still in self denial and his blame must be out of anger.

Livramento turned towards him, he walked to him and hit him multiple times, “Coward! All you have ever done was being a weakling. You're a mistake. You stood there and watched while a nobody burnt your father.”

Javier could be seen crying and writhing in pain. Just then, the female presenter emerged and interrupted “No one saw his face but he said something about vengeance. Something pertaining to a family that was killed by fire fifteen years ago.”

She happens to be the only one close by when Redmond was unleashing his judgement on Logan.

“Hmmm, that means that foolish beings weren't wiped out entirely. Someone is blood thirsty for vengeance.” He turned towards his soldiers and said, “Get the tape of the video cameras within and outside the building. Ready yourself soldiers, we have a wild Deer to hunt.”
