Chapter 23

Niko stepped out of the cafeteria, holding a steaming cup of espresso in his hand. He glanced at his watch, and it read exactly 9:30 PM. He should have left work thirty minutes ago, but he had postponed it due to the pile of tasks he had left behind a few days ago. He was determined to finish them now, as he didn't want his colleagues to think poorly of his performance. It seemed like the espresso was his second cup of the evening. Some of the office spaces had already gone dark as quitting time had long passed. Niko walked back to his office, sat down, and resumed working on his laptop, not caring what time it was because he had no intention of going home for now.

From outside, he heard a knock on the door. Niko turned and said, "Come in," suspecting it was the office security guard. As expected, when the door opened, the security guard stood there.

"Sorry, sir, are you really planning to leave later?" he asked.
