Chapter 3

A middle-aged man exited the car, now in front of Clayton. Still, in a restrained position, Clayton could only watch as the man walked over. Suddenly, two other people were helping Clayton break free. I don't know how long ago the bodies of the two people holding him were lying on the ground.

"Please come in, sir." The man invited Clayton to get into the car.

Clayton, confused and astonished by the man who treated him so politely, could only stand still on the spot. He noticed the man in front of him did not look like an ordinary man.

The man in front of him again raised his hand politely. "Come, sir. Please come in. I will escort you."

Clayton's brow furrowed, still confused because he was worried that the man in front of him was up to no good. But seeing the man's attitude made him dismiss any evil thoughts. Clayton finally decided to get into the car. The man got in too, and the car drove away.

Clayton looked out the window. He frowned as the car drove off in a different direction towards his house. "Where are they taking me? Then... why did I just obey? I didn't even recognize them." Clayton thought to himself with an uneasy feeling.

Clayton continued to watch the road that was getting further and further away from his house. He stared intently at the man's face. "Sir, where are you taking me? We've come a long way from the road to my house."

"We'll reach our destination soon, sir." The man replied politely. It made Clayton even more confused. Especially when the car began to enter a large area with an empty building that had not been used for a long time, not far from them.

The car stopped right under the empty building. It was an abandoned building hampered by the construction cost, so it could not be used again. Clayton wondered in his heart. Why did they bring him here? It made his head spin again. Clayton was nervous because he was afraid they would do something terrible to him.

The man opened the car door and let Clayton out of there. "Please, sir. Follow me."

The man stepped into the dusty, damp-looking building. They walked down every hallway and up the stairs because the elevator in the building wasn't working.

"When are you going to explain to me who you are and why you brought me here?" Clayton tried to ask once more.

This time, the man stopped and turned around. The look in his eyes was so sharp it made Clayton a little afraid to look at him. From behind that body, it looked like someone was tied to a chair with a blindfold and a gag.

"It was that man who wanted to harm you, sir. He sent his men to detain you by the roadside a moment ago. Luckily, I arrived in time to save you quickly."

"I really don't understand, who is the person who-" Clayton' eyes widened, the person in front of him was Hugo-the man who liked his wife.

"That man made the plan to get rid of you, sir. I've caught him and detained him. I know, you must be dying to get back at him, right? Now is the time," explained the man, who was now snapping his fingers to summon someone.

From behind Clayton, someone handed the man a baseball bat. He took one glance and stepped back.

"Go ahead, sir. You can vent your pent-up frustration and anger. Don't worry, this place is safe to do so. No one will know what you're doing here."

"Really? I can get back at you?"

The man nodded in reply. Clayton accepted the stick and dragged it as he walked closer. The sound of the bar scraping against the floor disturbed Hugo's hearing. In fact, his body shook, and a cold sweat broke out on his face.

"He's moving," Clayton whispered, stopping him in his tracks.

"Take it easy, sir. He's in a semi-conscious state. I've rendered him helpless, you can do as you please here."

“Really? I can get back to Hugo. This man always wanted to take Ahren away from me.” Clayton's mind was now starting to raise his stick high.

Hugo was starting to wake up. He looked up at Clayton with wide eyes. "Who are you?" His eyes narrowed until he could see clearly. He grinned at Clayton, who stood there holding the baseball bat with shaking hands. "Oh, it's you. You want to hit me with that thing? Do it if you have the guts."

Clayton did feel hesitant to hit Hugo. He had never committed a crime like this before, although the hatred in his heart was peaking, and he seemed convinced initially that he wanted to take revenge on Hugo. But it turned out that he did not have the guts to do so.

Hugo grinned while hissing in annoyance. "I bet, you don't have the guts to hit me with that tool. You are indeed a loser man. You don't deserve to be Ahren's husband. Ahren should be with me, not a gutless loser like you." Hugo's eyes wandered far, imagining Ahren. "If she becomes my wife, I will definitely make her happy. Ah, especially since her body is so beautiful. I want to sleep with her. She must be a wife who is good at playing in bed. I would definitely be satisfied if I were her husband."

That made Clayton' anger explode even more. Without hesitation, Clayton swung his hand with force. In just a few seconds, the baseball bat hit Hugo's face so hard that the corner of Hugo's lip was oozing fresh blood.

Clayton swung again at the other side of Hugo's face, making both corners of the man's lips bleed again. "You think I don't have the guts to hit you? Damn men like you deserve to be hit!"

During his time with Ahren, Hugo was always in their midst. Taking every opportunity to poison Austin and Ella about the marriage relationship was unsuitable for the Astor Family's economic situation. Hugo was also very fond of showing off his wealth to Elle, so she urged him to divorce Clayton.

The thought of all this made Clayton's anger boil over. Clayton landed another blow with the wooden baseball on Hugo's arm until the impact echoed loudly through the building.

Clayton' breathing was ragged with anger. He stared intently at Hugo. He lowered his shaking hand. He still had a conscience when he saw Hugo's terrible condition with a lot of fresh blood coming out.

Hugo spat. All his teeth were red with blood. He grinned at Clayton. "Insolent. It turns out you dare to hit me. You think by doing that, I'll give up on getting Ahren from you? No way, damn it!"

Hugo moved his body, struggling to break free from the bonds on his hands. Hugo stretched out his legs, trying to kick Clayton, but missed. Clayton swung the baseball back at Hugo's leg, making Hugo cry out in pain.

Hugo pulled his leg out slowly. It hurt and ached so badly that, for a while, it didn't move. "Damn it! You want to break my leg bones? See you later, I'll make you regret doing this to me. I'll make you lose Ahren!"

Hearing that made the compassion in Clayton' heart disappear instantly. He was wrong for Hugo. His hand swung again, beating Hugo mercilessly to vent the anger in his heart. All the bad things Hugo had said to him made Clayton slam the baseball bat even harder into Hugo's body, leaving him helpless.

"This is what it feels like, to be able to vent my frustration on the person who has been bothering my family." Clayton said what was in his heart.

He felt so relieved, like he was letting go of heaven.

"Mr. Clayton, congratulations on completing your revenge on that ignorant man." The middle-aged man bowed as if paying his respects to Clayton.

Clayton felt strange about her, especially because she was so polite. Never once had someone behaved like that to him. Moreover, the Astors constantly insulted and belittled him in front of everyone. Not having wealth and a vital position made Clayton such a poor man that he didn't deserve to be among the wealthy family.

"Who are you? Why are you helping me? What do you want?" The questions came and made Clayton even more impatient for the answer.

Otto's face looked so relaxed, unlike when they first met.
