The following morning, the huge mansion was quietly busy with servants running about getting their duties done. Inside the master bedroom which belonged to the chairman, a middle-aged man stood before a full-length mirror getting ready for the day with three maids standing beside him, ready to take his orders at any given time.
Mr Langley Austin was currently in his late 60s and looked very young and agile for his age, he was quite particular about his health. The grey hair on his head gave off his age which was hidden thanks to his youthful looks, he was average in height sporting 5:2 ft tall. His face looked serious, so serious that it would leave a person guessing how he looked like if he ever smiled. He looked at his reflection one more time after being fully dressed before stepping out of his bedroom without saying a word and the maids stepped out right after and closed the door. With precise steps, he walked through the hallway and made it to the dining where a feast lay untouched on the table. "Good morning, Mr chairman," the man from yesterday who was among the three men who met Ryu at the hospital stepped into the dining and bowed his head to the chairman who had yet to take a seat. "Hmm," he hummed in response to his personal assistant's greeting, "We should go check on him now, shouldn't we?" He demanded and made his way out of the dining, heading towards the guest room with his personal assistant following right behind him. They reached the guest room and stepped into it to find Ryu was still unconscious or probably fast asleep, chairman Langley tilted slightly to the side and signaled for Mr John, his assistant to go wake Ryu up. The guest room was quite empty but accommodating, it had the basic needs like a bed, and some needful pieces of furniture arranged neatly, and the walls were painted plain white. It was basically an ordinary-looking bedroom. Mr John walked towards the bed and leaned forward, with a low groan, he picked Ryu up. He carried Ryu and placed him on the couch, he then walked into the bathroom and filled an empty bucket with water, and splashed it mercilessly on Ryu, messing the place up in the process. Ryu was immediately forced awake with a loud gasp at the feeling of cold water on him, he breathed loudly as he looked around aimlessly. Chairman Langley stood by and watched without saying a word as Ryu successfully regulated his breathing and calmed his racing heart, he looked around himself, not quite understanding where he was. The first thought that crossed his mind was his mother, thinking he was still at the hospital, he looked around him again and hastily stood up. "Mum? Where's she?" He asked while staring at the two strange men standing before him, still not grasping what was going on. "She's dead and gone. Stop worrying about a dead person and get yourself together," Chairman Langley said with a straight face as if discussing something casual. Although taken aback, Ryu stared at the stranger before him as his heart slowly began to ache knowing the man before him was speaking about his mother in such a manner. "You're talking nonsense," he said and paused as he realized that this place didn't look, smell, or feel like a hospital. Then where was he? "Where am I?" He demanded as he took a step forward to be met with silence, one he didn't appreciate because Ryu wanted nothing but answers. He gritted his teeth as impatience filled him and without wasting further time, he stomped out of the bedroom. Chairman Langley turned around and stared at the slightly opened door that Ryu just dashed out of and he asked, "Has burial been conducted for her?" "Yes sir, a fake burial has been conducted for his mother, he wouldn't be able to see her body and wouldn't know she was alive. He would be directed by the hospital to her fake burial ground." Mr. John explained in detail to hear Chairman Langley hum in satisfaction. "Quickly, follow him and keep a close eye on him. I'll be going to visit his mother, everything must go according to my plans, no mistake will be tolerated," Chairman Langley said and Mr John replied with a nod and left the room to carry out his boss's orders. After relaying his orders, Chairman Langley left the room right after. As for Ryu, he roamed around the huge mansion looking for an exit with confusion written all over his face as he wondered how he even got here in the first place. The last thing he could recall was crying next to his dead mother, he couldn't remember what had happened next and it all proved to him something was very much fishy. He ignored the brief thought and continued roaming around the house in search of the exit until he bumped into a maid, he requested for the way out and she politely showed him which he was thankful for, Ryu stepped out of the mansion. He walked as fast as his legs could carry him because judging from what he was seeing, he could already tell he was far away from the town where he came from. Along the way, Ryu felt his phone vibrate in his pocket, someone was calling. He stopped walking to pull his phone out of his pocket to see who was calling, it was Richard. Ryu sighed and quickly picked up the call, thinking the heavens had sent someone to rescue him today. "Hey man, this wasn't the plan, you were supposed to be here by now. Changed your mind?" Richard asked, his tone bland and flat, one could tell he wasn't amused with the fact that Ryu could have had a change of mind. "I'm in a little bit of a situation right now and I need help, do you think you can help me this once?" Ryu asked, feeling anxious, he couldn't understand why nothing was going according to his plans. Everything just kept falling apart. He heard Richard sigh from the other end of the phone before asking what kind of help he needed. Ryu immediately explained his situation and why he needed help and of course, Richard agreed to send someone to his location to come pick him up and the call ended. A few minutes rolled by and just like Richard had promised, a taxi stopped by before where Ryu stood by the road waiting, he hopped into the taxi and it drove him to Richard's father's small furniture company. Ryu thanked the driver after he got down from the taxi and ran into the building, he was allowed entry to see Richard because the staff of the company already knew Ryu as their boss's friend. With a great sense of urgency, Ryu practically ran into the elevator that took him to the top floor where Ryu's office was situated, he barged in to find Richard seated on his chair, he appeared to be busy on his laptop. "Phew, for a moment there I thought you would change your mind, turns out I was wrong," Richard commented with a knowing smile dancing on his face. "Please sit down and have coffee with me, let's get down to business," Richard invited Ryu, pointing at a chair which Ryu quietly sat on, "Do you mind for coffee?" Richard asked, looking down at the cup filled with warm coffee placed on the table before Ryu. Ryu sighed and picked the cup up, he took a long sip from the coffee without thinking much about it and dropped the cup back on the table, and didn't notice the smirk on Richard's face. "Let me guess, you need more than a million?" Richard inquired as he leaned forward on his chair with his elbow resting on his table, looking intently at Ryu. "Yeah, for the divorce," responded Ryu after taking one more sip from the creamy warm coffee. He stared back at Richard whose eyes were solely on him but was quick to look away, feeling embarrassed about asking money from his now sworn enemy. Ryu hated how everything turned out to be, his mother wasn't supposed to be dead and he wasn't supposed to be around Richard begging for money, how did it go wrong? "Cool, give me a minute, I'll be right back, Richard replied with a smile on his face and stepped out of the office, leaving Ryu behind and alone in his own thoughts. As soon as Richard was gone, Ryu sighed and shifted on his chair, feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed. He hated this. 'What am I even doing here?' He questioned himself, he shouldn't be here especially not when his mother could be needing him now. He should be with her now that she was finally gone, with guilt slowly creeping up his chest, Ryu stood up from where he sat and made it for the door. However, before he could reach the door, a sudden feeling of dizziness immediately struck him, causing him to groan softly as he placed both his hands on his head where he felt a sharp pain. The pain soon became worse and in the next seconds, Ryu fell down with a loud thud against the floor and passed out right after. What he didn't know was that his cup of warm creamy coffee had been poisoned and kept specially for him by Richard.Right after Ryu had passed out on the floor due to the poison he drank from the coffee, the office door was pushed open, and in came Richard whose hands were placed in the side pockets of his pants, and following behind him were two bulky men dressed in an all-black outfit.Seeing Ryu lying on the floor and now unconscious, Richard let out a low but satisfying chuckle, he pulled his right hand out of his pocket and placed his on his head, ruffling his curly hair a bit as he ran his hand through it before dropping his hand back to his side.He softly pushed Ryu with his leg but no sign of consciousness from him, he looked back up at the two men and ordered them to pick Ryu up and they did while Richard moved to the side, giving them enough space to carry out their job."Take him away and you know what to do with him, no matter what, he can't be seen alive," Richard ordered and the men nodded their heads in understanding. "Make use of the emergency elevator that leads directly to the un
Mr. John quickly drove the car to the same hospital where Ryu's mother had been undergoing treatments for a quick check-up. Following the Chairman's orders, he took Ryu to a VIP ward where a doctor made a quick check on him. That was when they discovered Ryu had ingested a rare kind of poison, this information was quick to place Mr. John in a panic mode. Fearing for the life of the Chairman's son, he instructed the Doctor to immediately start giving Ryu treatment as he knew how deadly poisons can be. It usually depended on the kind of poison he took, some could kill their victims as fast as one could blink and some usually would take time before slowly killing their victims and there was no telling what kind of poison was inside of Ryu. While Ryu was undergoing gastric lavage treatment to get rid of the poison in his stomach before it took effect as according to the doctor, it was a slow-acting poison which would firstly render its victim unconscious before slowly killing them, Mr.
Ryu left the cemetery with his father after spending some quality time with his deceased mother. Though he had lots of unanswered questions, he understood that there wasn't any going back as the dead would never come back to life but that didn't mean he would let anyone off the hook, he would be sure to pay them all back for what they did to him, it was only a matter of time. They left the cemetery and Ryu was taken to where the man who had tried to kill him was kept. After a good amount of beatings and interrogation, the man confessed who had ordered them to kill Ryu and the confession didn't really faze Ryu as he already knew it.But then, Ryu blamed himself for being gullible as he should have known better. After already finding out Richard's hatred for him, he shouldn't have believed Richard would even want to help him out in the first place. He sighed inwardly to himself and as angry as he was he couldn't really do anything, or so he thought, at least not now.Already feeling tir
The following morning, Ryu was woken up by the constant ringing of an alarm, he grumbled while rolling from side to side on the queen-sized bed. For some odd reasons, he slept way better than he had in a long while and as the alarm kept ringing, Ryu could recall not ever placing an alarm. He never did his whole life.Forcibly squeezing his eyes open, he yawned with a stretch. The harsh rays of the morning sunlight fell on his face, forcing him awake. He yawned for the second time, his eyes now fully open. His bright blue eyes stared at the huge chandelier on the ceiling just right above him, his mind preoccupied with the weird dream he had last night. The more he tried to recall the dream, the faster it left his memory."Good morning, Young Master," The voice of a man seeped into Ryu's ears, distracting him from his thoughts.Young Master? Ryu wondered to himself with a deep frown on his eyebrows, wondering if he was beginning to hear things. He slowly looked to his side to find two u
Ryu quickly went straight to shopping, picking up whatever caught his eye. Ranging from shoes to watches to outfits. It was a fun experience for him, having to buy whatever he wanted without holding back. He could recall in the past how he had always wanted something but never got it for himself because he couldn't afford it.He spent a good thirty minutes shopping. He would pick up outfits, try them on, and sometimes change his mind to pick another outfit. It went on till he was finally done.By the time he was done, he ended up spending three million on the things he bought and two million on the salon section. This made his chest thump fast because who in their right senses would spend that much money on clothes and salons? He turned to stare at Drew and inwardly glared at him, why would he bring him to such an expensive place? And not to mention, the clothes had no price tags on them.He felt they were being cheated, this was definitely a rip-off."Excuse me, are you sure you aren
"Are you crazy?" Ryu asked, his gaze now staring deeply at her with a subtle glare. "Well, maybe you could be right that my father gave me a fake black card to use," Ryu said, slightly looking back at Drew who cleared his throat with a nervous smile. "But you can't just jump to a conclusion like that, swipe the card first."By now, every ounce of playfulness in Ryu had vanished. The cashier was being ridiculous and crossing boundaries at this point. She was being discriminative towards him because she thought he was a poor man with a fake black card. With the drama now going on, Ryu was thankful the mall wasn't a crowded place. It had just a few people in, it roaming around."And who is your father?" The manager asked, his small self looking up at Ryu dead in the eyes, waiting for a response.Ryu, however, looked at the manager and sighed, this wasn't what he was here. "That's not the issue right now, don't you think so?" He questioned the manager to notice him look away, seemingly ge
Ever since Ryu left and was never seen again, life became a lot more better for Belle. Who would want to deal with a lazy broke husband when they could have a rich boyfriend anyway?Richard had been treating her way better than Ryu would ever in his entire existence. Richard was way more romantic, considerate, and rich too.She was enjoying this little life of hers and now she wanted more, she wished to be married to Richard now but she was still married to Ryu which made it impossible. And to make matters worse, nobody knew where Ryu was at the moment. After being thrown out of their house, he was nowhere to be found. His phone wouldn't go through. But Belle had not been searching for Ryu all these while because she missed him or was worried about him, it was mainly because she wanted to hand him a divorce letter and call their marriage quits. She wanted nothing to do with him and didn't want anything of his attached to her or around her. Now that she couldn't find him, she hoped he
On their way home from the mall, Drew noticed the slight change in Ryu's demeanor, he couldn't quite understand what had happened or why his mood changed so drastically. Was his Young Master bipolar? That could possibly be the case. After all, they met today for the first time, there was so much he didn't know about his Young Master, and being bipolar could be one of them. What Drew didn't know was that Ryu had seen his wife together with the man who had tried to kill him, they appeared to be intimate with each other. The thought of Richard and Belle conspiring to kill him in the disguise of wanting to help him made Ryu chuckle in self-mockery. How had he been stupid enough to go to Richard's office that day thinking he was going to be offered help? The whole time he had walked into his own death trap.Ryu didn't even want to think of what would have happened if nobody showed up to save him. His enemies would have been living a happy and fulfilling life while he would have been dead a
"Reality? I never chose this, I didn't even ask to be here so what are you talking about?" Ryu said, glaring at the older man. Hearing this from Ryu, Drew sighed as he had not expected for things to go this way. "Not everybody is privileged enough to choose their reality. People just find themselves in crazy situations and can do nothing about it. Some get lucky with a better life and some the total opposite. The fun thing about life is, no matter how crazy life gets, you can always get to shape your reality to how you want it. When life hands you a lemon, you turn it to lemonade or whatever it is they say." He explained, hoping for the young man to understand. "Look at you now, being scared and towering away from the reality given to you..." "I'm not scared," Ryu interrupted with an offended frown but Drew ignored him. "But the truth is, you can always change it if you want. The ability to do so is right in the palm of your hands, it's like a power we humans yield. And the only w
Three months flew by with Ryu getting the mentorship he needed from Drew. He was taught everything he needed to know about business and about the company in general. He was given practical tests and theory exams and he passed them to both his and Drew's surprise. One month into the mentorship, Drew could already see Ryu was taking it seriously. One could tell the young man was eager to learn. The way he asked questions out of his own curiosity and the way he answered the questions asked to him, Drew knew he had buckled up. He had a good brain too, he could easily grab onto things, even the ones that seemed like they weren't there and the ones Drew had purposely made to appear so. Every single day that came, it became as if Ryu woke up with a new willpower to learn and this was impressive to Drew. During the three months of mentorship, some of Ryu's practical tests had involved him having to spend his day in the company with the Chairman. He attended meetings with the Chairman and
"I'm interested, I will do it," Ryu stated out of the blue without understanding where the willpower to suddenly do what he never wanted came from. His response took both him and the Chairman by surprise. Chairman Langley wouldn't have guessed it could be this easy to convince Ryu. The young man was human anyway, things like this would definitely excite him no matter how hard he tried to avoid it."Well, that was easy," the Chairman breathed with a small smile on his lips. "It's settled then," he said and made his way to the elevator to return back to his office and Ryu and the others followed with Ryu constantly looking behind him to stare at the brown-eyed janitor one more time. They left the floor through the elevator and returned back to the Chairman's office where Drew was officially assigned to be Ryu's mentor for the time being till he was finally fit to take up his position as the CEO.After a brief meeting, Ryu and Drew left the company and drove back to his apartment. On the
"I'm going to make you the CEO and sole successor of this company Ryu, how do you feel about that?" He asked to see the shock that immediately fell on Ryu's face. The office fell in utter silence as Ryu stood in shock, trying to digest the words he heard from the Chairman, making sure he heard right.Did he hear right? Sole successor and CEO of what? This sounded so absurd to Ryu that he felt a little dizzy. He tried getting rid of the dizziness by shaking his head a bit and stared back at the Chairman, "What?" He asked hesitantly, seemingly still in great shock."I know you heard me and I can tell you this for free," the Chairman said, rising from his chair and slowly walking towards Ryu. "You can't afford to say no to me. No, I mean, you have no choice here, you can't decide. I made that decision and as my son, you have no choice but to comply, or am throwing you back to where I picked you up." He deadpanned, another piercing silence followed his words as Ryu took his own sweet time
