Ayleen gaped at the screen in front of her. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.
-Name: Ayleen de Etienne.
-Test score: 85/100.
-Local rank: 042.
-Regional rank: 1,389.
She made it into the top 50 in the local rankings and top 1500 in the regional rankings. She was feeling good with herself at having a good score when she saw the top 10 on the regional rankings.
Lukas Kerr! He was the number 1 on the list! Just how insanely good was he? How could he get a perfect score on the theory test? If she didn't partake in the test she would be obliged to believe that the test was very easy.
She suddenly felt like everything she did was a waste. She glanced at the list once more before clenching her fists tightly. She vowed to reach his level and overtake him.
The door opened and a middle aged woman entered the room. She was dressed in a white shirt and black skirt with leggings. She was wearing glasses on her eyes and her hair was tied into a bun. She was Mrs. Chandler, the examiner for Ayleen's class.
Mrs. Chandler coughed, and immediately the whole class fell silent. Mrs. Chandler nodded in satisfaction, as she was a huge fan of decorum, before speaking.
"Out of 1,000 students who took the first test, a total of 721 people failed to the reach the pass mark."
"Without further ado, we shall begin the 2nd test."
Before we start, I would like to tell you this; Aegis Imperial High School has no need for dregs. Only the talented and the best will merit entrance into this school. We don't care about your background; we don't care about your wealth."
"The only thing we care about is your result."
She paused, scanning the expression of everyone present before continuing.
"The second test is very simple. It is a measure of your talent. Please bring out the identity cards given to you when you awakened."
Everyone present did so, as they all carried their identity cards with them.
"Please place it on top of the tabs. They will automatically scan it and give you your result. If your result is below the C-rank you won't be admitted into our school."
"Please start. Like I said, it is a measure of talent. Good luck."
Ayleen placed her card on the tab and after scanning it her result came out.
-Name: Ayleen de Etienne
-Result: A-rank.
-Verdict: Passed.
Ayleen smiled. She had passed the second test. Soon, she would be a student of Aegis Imperial High school. She had her doubts before the test began, but seeing her result confirmed her doubts.
The 2nd test was mainly scanning the result they got when they awakened. With that in mind, the only real hurdle was the first test.
Luckily for her she was from one of the 3 ducal families in the empire. The noble families were very keen on education, making it easier for her to do well in the test.
She frowned as she thought of the boy who was not a noble, but was able to get perfect scores in the test.
After 10 minutes the 2nd test was completed.
This time around only few people failed to reach the C-rank bar as the people who remained were the elites among elites.
"That would be all for the test. Congratulations to everyone who passed the tests. Welcome to Aegis Imperial High School. Please come back tomorrow to this same venue at 9 am. Then you shall begin the registration process. Good day."
After giving her speech Mrs. Chandler turned and left the room, leaving the teenagers present to rejoice.
As soon as she left, almost everyone in the room stood up and exclaimed at the top of their voices.
Some immediately brought out their phones and started calling their parents. The previously quiet room was now so rowdy that anyone could barely hear each other.
Ayleen made her way out of the room before bringing out her phone. She swiped through the contact list, found the name she was looking for before making a phone call. On the 3rd ring the person on the other line picked up.
"Hello! Ayleen! How was your test?" Bella exclaimed.
"It was okay. I passed the tests. What about you?"
"It was okay too. I also passed! Where are you now? Let's meet up."
"Room 39."
"Okay, I'll be there soon." Bella said before hanging up the call.
A few minutes after the call Ayleen saw Bella walking over happily, her blonde hair swaying as she did.
"Ayleen!" She exclaimed before throwing herself into Ayleen's arms. Ayleen smiled as she hugged Bella. After separating Bella was the first to speak up.
"So where are we going after this?"
"Home."
Bella clicked her tongue at her response while shaking her head before replying.
"No. We can't go home. For one it's too far. Remember we have to be back here at 9 am. Two we just passed the tests! Let's get loose today! Let's party!"
"No. We cannot party, or we might not wake up in time for the registration. Besides we're just 14. Don't you think we're too young to be partying?"
"We aren't. Come on Ay, don't be a party pooper. We can meet our seniors at the party, meet new friends and have some fun!" Bella whined.
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Oh come on!"
"I really can't party today Bella. How about you attend the party without me?"
"But it'll be no fun without you."
"I'm really sorry Bell, but I can't agree with you on this one."
Bella pouted, but when she saw that Ayleen wasn't budging she sighed before saying.
"Alright. Let's go home."
Ayleen felt her heart tugging at her but she didn't give in. She turned her gaze away from Bella before she changed her mind. Bella saw this and snickered but didn't say anything. Ayleen coughed before saying.
"You're right Bell. We shouldn't go home. It's too far, considering the fact that we have to be at the hall by 9 am tomorrow. How about we go find a hotel and lodge there for the time being? After taking a rest we can go sightseeing around the school. What do you think?"
"That's a good idea."
Ayleen sighed in relief before making her way out of the building with Bella. They exited the building and asked around for the nearest hotel nearby.
After getting the directions they made their way to a neat and pleasant hotel.
The name Rendezvous was written in cursive on a signboard which glowed with neon lights. They made their way past the neat garden, the swimming pools and the bar before reaching the reception hall.
A young man around the age of 20 was sitting behind the counter scrolling through his phone.
"Lukas Kerr. 100/100. Wow. How long has it been since someone got perfect score on the entrance test. Man the kids these days are something else."
Ayleen frowned when she heard the name Lukas from his mouth.
"Excuse me."
The young man removed his gaze from his phone and saw two pretty girls looking at him with a weird expression on their faces.
"Oh heyy. Welcome to Rendezvous hotels. Are you here to book a room?"
Ayleen ignored his question and asked hers in return.
"How do you know the name Lukas Kerr?"
"Oh. Here. He's on the Daily Imperial news." The man said as he turned his phone for Ayleen to see.
'Trending: Top 10 regional rankers from today's entrance test. Minds blown as student gets perfect score in theory.'
Ayleen gasped in shock at the sight before her. Bella was the first to recover as she asked.
"That is a thing? What the hell is Daily Imperial?"
The young man scanned them before laughing.
"You guys just came to the school newly didn't you?"
This time it was Ayleen that replied him.
"Yes we did."
"I figured." He smirked at them before saying. "Daily Imperial is a news body that gives us daily updates about what's happening in the school. Today's update has the total list of people who passed and their scores. They always have inside info about everything happening in the school. Don't ask me how, I'm as clueless as you lot to how they do. Don't worry though; they don't just carry any news, only the worthy ones make it to their table."
Ayleen looked at Bella before sighing. It seemed like there were a lot of things she needed to research about this school.
"We want to book a room."
"Okay. Do you want the regular, VIP or luxury suite?"
"How much for the luxury suite?"
"50 silver notes."
"We'll take it." Ayleen said as she reached into her pocket, brought out her wallet and pulled a single gold note before handing it over.
After collecting her change and the key card, she and Bella made their way to the elevator.
When they soon got to their room, she swiped the key card and entered it.
She didn't even take a second to admire the room.
She took off her clothes, went into the bathroom, took a quick shower and donned the purple bathrobe on the shelf before jumping on the plush bed.
Not even a minute passed by before snoring sounds could be heard.
She had fallen asleep.

Lukas left the people celebrating in the hall after his handler told them they had passed the test and were now probationary students of Aegis Imperial High School.
The past few minutes had been hectic for him. After seeing that he got 1st place in the regional rankings different people started striking up conversations with him.
Everything was going well as Lukas wasn't one to reject good will until the girls came into the fray. Girls with large breasts started feeling him up coquettishly and hugging his arms.
The stimulation was too much for a 14 year old to bear and the blood rushing to the wrong part of his body didn't help one bit. Only when the handler announced that they had passed the test did they let him be.
Lukas made his way out of the building and asked for directions to the nearest hotel. He couldn't go home because there was no home for him to go to.
After asking around he found out that the nearest hotel was the Rendezvous hotel and it would cost 3 silver notes to get there by bus.
Lukas thanked the middle aged woman before setting off. He was going there by foot! A whole 3 silvers just for a cab fare? Not happening.
After walking for over 40 minutes he finally got to the hotel. It was neat and had a welcoming feel to it. He entered the hotel and strode to the counter where a young man in his twenties was seated.
"Hello. Welcome to Rendezvous hotels. Are you here to book a room?"
"Yes. Which rooms are available?"
"We have the regular room which costs 20 silver notes, the VIP room which costs 30 silver notes and the Luxury suite which costs 50 silver notes."
Lukas stared at the receptionist for over a minute with a blank expression on his face. The receptionist felt uncomfortable and cocked his head before asking
"Is there something wrong?"
"Yes." Lukas replied instantly.
"What is?"
"Your prices! Are you trying to scam me?! 20 silver notes?! Do I look like the 2nd coming of Arthur Horton?! Even Arthur won't pay that much for a single night! 20 silver notes?! That's 2,000 copper notes!" Lukas exclaimed.
"Ah, sorry customer, but that's the ideal price for the rooms. You can opt for another hotel that might fit your budget." The young man explained slowly.
As Lukas and the receptionist were arguing a voice laden with authority interrupted them.
"Kazuki."
Both of them turned to the direction of the voice and saw a man with grey hair and wrinkles on his face.
He was dressed in an immaculate blue suit with white floral patterns and a pair of glasses on his eyes.
Kazuki, the receptionist, immediately adopted a respectful stance immediately he saw the man.
"Teacher!" he greeted.
"What is the problem?" the man asked.
Kazuki explained the situation to the man. The man smiled before reaching into his pocket and bringing out his wallet. He brought out a gold note and handed it over to Kazuki.
"That's the payment for the room. Give him the key card to the luxury suite." The man said.
Kazuki nodded his head and accepted the money before handing Lukas the key card.
Lukas looked at the man in confusion. The man just smiled at him.
Lukas thanked him, collected the key card before making his way towards the elevator. He soon disappeared from their sight.
"Teacher, why did you pay for him?"
The man looked at Kazuki before smiling.
"Do you know who that is?"
"No? Is he someone with an impressive background?" Kazuki asked.
"Background? No." The man smiled again before answering.
"The student who got a perfect score on the entrance exam for the first time in 50 years. He also got a S-rank evaluation on the 2nd test. Do you know who he is now?"
Kazuki eyes widened as one name popped up in his mind. Lukas Kerr!
***
Lukas swiped the key card on the card reader and entered the room.
He gave the room a quick scan before whistling in delight. The room really lived up to its name.
He wondered why the old man paid for the room instead of him.
Lukas dropped his backpack on the sofa, took off his clothes and entered the bathroom.
He took a long shower, making his right hand busier than normal to get rid of some images in his head, before exiting the shower.
He donned the purple bathrobe on the shelf after drying his hair before lying on the plush bed.
He closed his eyes as he felt the fatigue from the day's event hit him.
He had a busy day ahead of him tomorrow, so he needed as much sleep as possible.
Less than 3 minutes later, Lukas was fast asleep.
The sound of the alarm woke Lukas up from his sleep. He turned over and checked the time on the clock. 7:30 am.Lukas groaned before getting up from the bed. He walked to bathroom and soaked for a while in the bathtub before sighing. The hot water had a therapeutic effect on him. After soaking in the bathtub, he took his bath before exiting the bathroom.Today was a good day for him so he decided to look better than ever. He styled his silver hair, put on a fancy pair of earrings he got for 2 coppers yesterday and he wore his clothes. He did all this while humming to the song blasting from the speakers. After checking himself in the mirror, he nodded in satisfaction at what he saw before heading out of the room.At the same time he opened the door, the door opposite his room opened too.Two pretty girls with blonde hair exited the room opposite his.The girls gasped at the sight of Lukas, as if they had seen a ghost. One of the girls had an ugly expression on her face as if she had ju
-Rakades City, Schedek Kingdom-The scorching sun shone down on the city of Rakades. It was a city close to the Ymir deserts so it was always very hot.The tanned citizens were going about their daily businesses. Merchants could be found at almost every corner of the city, showing how popular the city was. It was a small city with about 50,000 citizens. The people of Rakades were devout worshippers of Arzek. They called him the 'Sun God', as they believed he was responsible for their safety. There were different temples throughout the city, showing how deep their beliefs were.In the biggest temple located at the heart of the city, a curvaceous young woman dressed in a white garment was praying to the statue in a fountain. Her skin was very smooth, and her curves were heavily pronounced, a perfect example of the hourglass figure. Her face was covered in a veil, but it did nothing to offset her beauty, only making her seem like a mysterious beauty.Suddenly she stopped praying. She tur
-Rose City, Hundred Flowers Empire-The Hundred Flowers Empire was a very powerful empire. It was a veteran empire that was well above average in strength. They had cemented themselves as a power not to be trifled with during an incident that occurred 10 years ago, where 4 catastrophe class beasts joined hands together to attack the empire.Everyone had thought that the empire would suffer heavy losses and might be wiped out; but to their shock not only did the empire repel the attack, slaying 2 catastrophe class beasts, they did so while suffering minimum casualties.Since that incident, everyone acknowledged the Hundred Flowers Empire as a superpower. That wasn't the only peculiar thing about the empire. Like the name suggested, there were a hundred cities in the empire. They were all named after flowers, with the smaller cities almost half the size of a kingdom while the larger ones were as big as a kingdom. The combined size of all the cities made the empire encompass a very large
Everyone gasped at the mention of the name. The officers broke out in a cold sweat. Davis grimaced when he heard the name. He was right. They had underestimated the gravity of the issue. The Purple Pavilion was synonymous with devastation. Anywhere the Purple Pavilion appeared only destruction was left in their wake. They were a transcendental organization responsible for the destruction of various cities, kingdoms, and even empires. There was very little information about the transcendental organization, as every information known about them was extremely confidential."I believe everyone present is familiar with the name." General Yuklein stated, scanning the faces of everyone present."From the information given to us by the Magic Association, the Purple Pavilion is on the move. We don't know what their objective is yet but we have been told to be on standby. The next information I want to pass out now is extremely confidential, and once you've heard it there is no going back."Gen
Lukas woke up to the chime of his alarm clock. He turned over and shut down the alarm before getting up.7:12 am. That was the time displayed on the clock. He stood up and saw that his dorm mates were still sleeping peacefully. There were new additions to the room but they were all sleeping, so he couldn't hold a conversation with them.Lukas made his way to the bathroom, which was already occupied by several naked boys. This was nothing new to him, as he had to share the bathroom with his dorm mates while in the military. He took his spot and started washing his body. When he was done, he made his way back to his room and dried off his body. He brought out the uniform he purchased for 50 silver notes, admired it once again before putting it on. He styled his silver hair, which he decided to grow out for a while, before putting on a pair of black earrings. He grabbed his phone and wallet before leaving the dorm.He bought breakfast on the way to his class, while admiring the view in t
"I mentioned earlier that everyone would not learn how to use mana sadly." Mr. Luis said as he looked at everyone present."The first step is Meditation." He said while glancing at everyone present."You all remember your awakening test don't you? You were asked to try and feel mana. During the tests, the orbs used are guided mana stones. They aid your ability to use mana; but to cast mana you will need to do it without aid."Mr. Luis cast his magic and a magic circle appeared. The magic circle was formed slowly this time and 14 symbols appeared before the circle formed."This is a basic magic circle. It has 14 symbols and each symbol must be supplied with mana consecutively before the spell is cast. You will learn how to draw this magic circle before you can cast a basic spell.""Everyone here has a mana circuit and a mana pool. The mana circuits are like wires which we conduct mana with. They draw mana from your mana pool and supply it to the magic circle to cast a spell.""The mana
Noelle walked leisurely through the busy streets of the school. The whole place was brimming with activities. Her silver hair swayed in the wind as she walked, garnering attention from the boys who seemed like hungry wolves. She was dressed in the school uniform, which she gotten at the tailor's shop a few days back for a gold note.It was a different version entirely when compared with the one Lukas and Ayleen wore. Her uniform still followed the outline but the colors were different. Her inner shirt which hugged her chest perfectly was white in color. Her jacket was a deep navy blue and her skirt, which was a bit short, was the same color as her jacket. Her spectacular long legs were also covered with knee high socks. The uniform which brought out her stunning figure and her extremely pretty face served as an incentive to various boys. Her mind was currently occupied with two things so she could care less about the boys who she felt worried too much about outward appearances. The fi
In what seemed to be an extremely expensive apartment, a young girl sat on the bed. Her room was filled with luxurious decorations, her wardrobe was packed with costly clothes, designers shoes sat on the shoe racks, and her bed was queen sized.Ayleen snarled in anger when the 3rd symbol didn't light up and the magic circle dissolved. Her attractive face twisted into a grimace. She had lost track of how many times she had failed.Today was the last day for the assignment, and she was still stuck at the 3rd symbol. The assignment was simply too hard. It was so hard that it was nearly impossible to complete. She looked at the clock in her bedroom. 9:47 am. There was still some time before Mr. Luis class commenced. Bella had left some hours ago to practice her spear wielding. She had awakened as a lancer. She seemed happy with her class, as she had not stopped practicing the spear since she got one.Ayleen shook her head before getting up from the bed. She undressed herself and walked in
Ciel was still shocked at the identity of the masked hunter. Although she had some suspicions, there were merely suspicions. What were the odds of the masked hunter that was her teammate being Lukas himself? From what she could tell, she could see that Lukas was very experienced as a hunter, even more experienced than her. She easily deduced that Lukas had thoughts along the same line as her after the traumatic experience at the Zivel forests, and decided to increase his strength by becoming a hunter. However, she did not account for the speed at which he grew. By some coincidence, they even managed to join the same guild, and were assigned to the same team, which was the only reason she was able to deduce his identity. With tumultous emotions raging wildly in her heart, she joined the village guards and started to help evacuate the helpless villagers while fighting against the saber toothed tigers, taking a passive stance in the heated battle.Lukas who had no idea that his identity
A surprised expression immediately appeared on Chief Keef's face, and the powerful aura that he had kept hidden suddenly skyrocketed. Without even sparing the three guests in his small hut a glance, he exited the hut in a haste. Amanda glanced at Lukas and Ciel briefly before exiting the small hut, leaving both Lukas and Ciel no other choice than to do so. When Lukas and Ciel appeared outside the small hut, the scene before them was one that they did not expect at all. Several huge monsters could be seen charging at the weak villagers. These monsters were incredibly huge, easily towering the villagers at more than 3 meters tall. They bore an uncanny resemblance to the tigers on earth, with few differences. The teeth of these monsters were incredibly sharp, cutting through the weak defenses of the villagers like tofu, and the four front canines were shaped like sabers, hence their name saber toothed tigers. At a single glance they could see more than fifty saber toothed tigers; an
“What do you think you’re doing in my village?”Amanda swung her wand when she heard the voice, pausing the terrified villager’s fall. The villager had his heart in his mouth at that moment, as his face inches away from the ground. If the voice hadn’t interrupted Amanda from her actions, he had no doubt that he would have been face planted on the hard ground and turned into mashed paste.Lukas and Ciel were both shocked and curious that someone was capable of making Amanda cease her actions. They had no doubt in their minds that the villager was a goner when he mocked Amanda’s outfit. They were instead worried about how they would explain the injury of the villager to the Hunter Association when they submitted their quest report for clearing.Amanda slowly turned around to face the owner of the voice. There was shock in her eyes as she gazed at the chief. She was a silver ranked hunter and a Great Mage, which spoke volumes for her physical strength, but she was unable to sense the chi
The journey to Gien village was a smooth one, albeit a long one. It took seven hours for them to get to their destination, one hour longer than the usual time needed. Throughout the duration of the journey, both Lukas and Ciel maintained complete silence. Lukas instead spent the whole time looking outside the window of the van. He found himself missing Eipi all of a sudden. At least, the journey would not have been this boring. When they arrived at Gien village, the van dropped the three of them off before driving off speedily.Lukas and Ciel looked around the village as soon as they alighted from the van. As the name suggested, Gien village was truly a village. At a single glance both Lukas and Ciel could tell that it was very underdeveloped. The van had dropped them at Gien village, but they still had to walk a short distance before they got to the gate to the village. As the trio walked towards the gate, they ran their eyes around their surroundings. Lukas in particular was very al
The night passed quickly with Lukas following his daily routines which were his usual meditation and exercises. The next morning Lukas woke up early as usual. Amanda had informed them to arrive on time to the Guild building so that they could leave early and get to Gien village on time.Lukas dressed up in his usual hunting outfit, which were his stylish combat clothes, his jacket and most importantly his mask, before exiting the dorm. The dorm was still empty as usual, as the backlash from the attack had yet to die down. Lukas however wasn’t bothered about that. He would use this period to increase his personal strength. That had always been his goal.He took the cab as usual and got to the Guild building early. The meeting room was empty meaning that he was the first to arrive.Only a few minutes passed before the door to the room opened and a beautiful lady with blue hair stepped inside the room.It was of course Ciel. She was also dressed in her combat suit, which was blue in colo
“Denied.” Amanda said authoritatively, twirling her wand as she spoke.Ciel let out a light groan when she heard Amanda’s response. This was the fourth quest she had suggested to Amanda but she had denied it just like the other three she submitted to Amanda.Lukas stood up and handed over a document to Amanda. He didn’t read it this time because Amanda told them not to read out loud anymore. Their voices were sickening and would give her endless nightmares according to her.“Denied.” Amanda said again, still twirling her wand as she spoke.Lukas didn’t groan like Ciel. Instead he just turned and went back to searching for a new quest. After having his quests rejected eight times, twice that of Ciel, he gave up on complaining about the rejection. The time he used to complain was better spent on searching for new quests. He had learned from numerous rejections that his complaints meant nothing to Amanda. And just like that, two hours of their time were spent searching for new quests. Af
The reason for their shock was obvious and understandable. At their level as Basic Mages the feat that their team leader performed was completely shocking to them. Casting a magic spell without the use of a magic circle was something they couldn’t comprehend. They had been taught that it was impossible to cast a magic spell without a medium which was why magic circles were required for casting spells so seeing Amanda cast a magic spell without a magic circle was utterly shocking to them.Amanda paid them no heed. She could clearly see their confused gazes and shock at her method of casting magic but made no plans to explain it to them. Not only was it stressful to do so there was absolutely no need for her to do so. She saw no reason to explain the mystery to them.“These documents contain several quests issued by the Hunter Association. Completing the quests will give us contribution points which in turn can be used to level you both to the silver rank.”Lukas and Ciel leaned forward
A beautiful lady with light blue hair and very curvy body walked in. She was dressed in a fitting hunter’s outfit and at a single glance Lukas could tell that her outfit was enchanted. Her blue eyes that were just as beautiful as her hair scanned the room and came to rest on Lukas. However, her incredibly beautiful face scrunched up into a light frown of confusion when she saw Lukas. For one, Lukas face was as usual covered up with a mask, so she was unable to see his face. His silver hair was now long enough to be packed in a small ponytail, which was what he did.She looked at him for a few seconds before removing her gaze. Hunters were eccentric people anyways. It wasn’t abnormal to see someone wearing a mask.Meanwhile, Lukas was extremely glad that he had decided to wear a mask. The lady wasn’t able to recognize him because of the mask, but he was able to recognize her the instant she walked in.She was none other his senior at Aegis Imperial High School who followed them to the
The new rule passed by the Chairman of the Hunter Alliance created a buzz among the Hunters. As expected, the hunters and Guilds were not welcoming of such rule. They had reported to the Hunter Alliance in hopes of them providing a reasonable solution, but instead all they got was a ban telling bronze ranked hunters not to participate in dungeon runs. Of course they were several bronze ranked hunters or Guilds who disregarded this rule and went ahead on dungeon runs. However their ending was far from ideal. The bronze ranked hunters all had their hunter’s license revoked permanently while the Guilds involved were given a 12 month ban on participating in dungeon runs. A 12 month ban was similar to crippling the Guild’s flow of profit because they couldn’t rely on expeditions alone, needless to say that dungeon runs were twice as profitable as expedition. When several hunters heard the harsh punishment passed on the hunters and Guilds that violated the rule, several bronze ranked hunt
