Ch 1: The night a kingdom fallen

“Every time I see a sight like this in the world, It brings a bit of joy to this cold, Blackened heart of mine, just watching it burn.”A man said who wasn’t a normal mortal, but instead a powerful vampire known to be called Caleb Youngblood.

“Damn…. You, I am going to kill you for this”,” A young man said, fighting the pain in his badly wounded knees.

“Hmm… promising words coming from you. I would be impressed if you can keep such a promise, slim as the chance may be.” Caleb sounded to be impressed with a mortal.

The young man forces himself unsteadily to his feet, gritting his teeth against the pain, His shaking hands gripping his sword, his knuckles turning white from the effort.

"I am…. Not going to promise…. It's going to happen!"He yelled as he started to charge at him.

"That's it! Come at me with that burning hate in your heart.”

Before the two could clash with each other, the world faded to dark until awakened wide eyes inside a dark and cold cave. The one to find such a place is no longer the human he once was; the only thing that keeps such a connection to his old self is the name Marcus.

“Again the dream of the past no matter how hard, I try to erase them from my head they keep on showing.” Marcus says in anger of the torment memory that played his dreams.

Marcus slowly rose from the ground and walked out of the cave, glancing up at the clear night sky where a full moon shone.

“It's time for me to play my part now that it's nighttime,” he said within seconds, setting off at a fast pace.

He passed through a thin/dense/ forest before emerging into an open area, the area strewn with the carnage of a recent battle.

Marcuse paused to take a close look at the men in armor, all lay lifeless on the ground, stab wounds causing pools of blood around their corpses, while others sprouted arrows that stuck out at odd angles.?

A quick survey of the field made it clear to anyone with eyes that the attackers had suffered far more than the garrisoned kingdom, safe behind their high walls.

He looked toward the Girean Kingdom taking in their defenses and found them still strong after the battle and prepared to hold out at least a while longer.

“This is my target, now to get to work,” he said quickly, focusing his sight on the sound of heartbeats to tell how many guards were on watch duty.

After a couple minutes of careful consideration, he had detected five men on guard. He began his approach, making sure to stay out of their view, not wanting to raise an alarm with his presence.

Soon he got close to the wall and clubbed up reaching the top to come close to one of them who wasn't standing right behind.

No time to waste, he grabs a dagger with him and uses it to cut across the man's throat, spilling blood.

Once that one went down it alerted another guard that was too far away, he saw his comrades down and dead, he was about to warn the others and anyone else inside the castle.

Suddenly he didn’t have that chance as an arrow price inside his skull as the men fell backward to the floor.

Even stopping that man alerting everyone the body falling did catch the other 3 attention.

“What the fuck an intruder.” one of the guards said as they quickly unleashed their weapons.

“Well they heard that better than all of them,” he said quickly, putting away the small crossbow and taking out another dagger.

Now both daggers in hand, he moves fast to attack before they have their chance.

He got close to one using one of the daggers in hand to slab into the man's stomach then moved it across opening it to let out blood and guts onto the floor.

The next move to make, he does a fast spin throwing a dagger at another guard that was standing behind the other as the dagger stabs into his right eye making him fall onto his back.

“I am going to make you pay for this!.” the last guard said as he was able to attack.

Yet so easily it was dodge as the intruder grabbed the man slamming him against the walls of the front.

Then stabbing the other dagger a few times into him until he no longer saw life in his eyes.

Now not alive anymore, he throws the body over and focuses on the last guard still alive crawling.

He slowly walked up to him, grabbing and turning the men's face, getting a good look at two sets of eyes that were completely red.

“W-what… are you.” the man asked, but there was no answer from the attacker.

What was the point if one was about to die, he turned the man's neck to the side exposing it.

When shown he opens his mouth allowing sharp fangs to appear and dig them into the neck draining the blood out of the body.

Only a few minutes later he was done taking the blood out of the man and whipping his mouth.

“Alright now to get the real party started,” he said while grabbing the dagger that was thrown out of the eye.

The next he did was work on opening the gate; it was easy once the ones on duty were dealt with.

"Stop at once with what you are doing." A voice said to him from behind.

He turns around to face an army of men in armor who serve the Kingdom of Girean, appearing now because of the noise of the gate opening.

"Whoever you are or what you are planning, it ends now, so surrender yourself." One of those men tells the unwelcome invader standing before them.

There was silence for a moment, but he spoke back to them even facing them.

"It's too late." He says and out of nowhere a giant rock flies through the sky hitting a building.

The next thing to happen was the sound of a big roar along with horse's feet hitting the ground where anyone can hear and see an army of men outside charging toward the castle while more rock and fire.

“Damn it, he with the enemy quickly the gate must be closed before they reach inside and be ready for battle.”

A few men charge straight at him with their weapon in hands, he can slowly reach for his sword on his back grabbing and waiting.

When close, he acted moving like the wind past those men as they stopped for a moment before blood started gushing out of their bodies until each one fell to the ground.

Witnessing such a thing happened brought fear to the rest that couldn’t believe about 10 of their friends were killed in a move by the enemy in front of them.

He looked at his blade covered in blood then began walking forward to them giving them no chance to react as he started slashing through those men.

Not long after, the army outside enters the castle joining in and attacking the soldiers of the Girean KIngdom.

“Well done Marcus, I must say this work impressed you, but to be honest, I didn’t think you would be able to pull this off.”

Marcus didn’t say a word back or even look at the man that just came in on his horse.

“How dare you ignore King Elwood Nguyen and show the man respect or, I would….” King Elwood put a hand up stopping the man with him from further talking.

“Enough my friend, no need to act this way, it's just how our new friend here is.”

“Payment now,” Marcus said in a cold tone toward the man.

“Of course your payment, you will be getting after we have completely taken this place.”

Marcus was not pleased to hear that as he grabbed his sword tight, turning his way to face King Elwood, showing them his red eyes.

The man with king Elwood thought he was about to attack as they took out their weapons.

“You will pay me or, I will turn my sword against you, I have brought you easily across to this kingdom without further needing to lose more men on the battlefield.”

“There is no need for that, I will pay you for the job you have done for me  and more if you bring me to the king who rules this.”

Marcus let out a big sigh then turned back and resumed fighting, killing further men of Brohan. King Elwood smiled watching him go to work.

Within time inside the castle of the king of Girean, a man who was now on his knees in the throne room filled that badly hurt as Marcus stood behind the man.

“King Abram Hoffman looks at you now, a fallen man who just lost his home.” King Elwood says standing in front of the man looking down at him victories

“Damn…. You Elwood, I swear there will be a price for what you did to my home.”After saying that king Abram takes a kick to the face from the man.

“Weak threats to a man who is now weak.” King Elwood said laughing as his man followed along laughing too.

Marcus was the only one who wasn’t laughing as it was more like he was annoyed wanting to get this over with and begone from this place.

“I gave you a chance to prevent this from happening yet you were too foolish to do so.”

King Elwood walks up to the throne to sit on it and Phoenix grabs King Abram and brings him back up and makes him face the man.

“This is your fault, not mine Abram, now everything belongs to me and you have nothing anymore, I want this man away from my sight.” Two of King Elwood's men walk up to grab him and take the man away as ordered.

“I want my payment now,” Marcus said.

“Ah yes , bring him the money he has earned.”One of them walks up to him giving Marcus a pouch filled with money, he takes it away.

Needing no longer to stay, he began walking leaving right away.

“Hold my new friend the rush in leaving, why not stay a little long to celebrate this glorious victory.”

“I don’t care what you do.” Marcus says walking away by a few steps.

“Wait a minute, I would like for you to join me. What do you say a creature such as yourself could be a great use to be and you could have rewarded life ahead of you.”

Marcus goes silent then turns back to face him.

“I seek not to serve anyone to be chained down like some pet and besides, I have a far more important goal that requires my attention.” he said coldly making sure this person gets the hint.

“My king! We have bad news: the queen and princess are gone, we search everywhere, but there has been no sign of them.” One of King Elwood's soldiers reported that one seemed a little bothered by it.

“Well that news, I would like to hear this would mean that man must have had those two leave before or after. That is something I can not allow to happen and know the right person who is standing in front of me to do it.”

Marcus could understand what King Elwood meant as the man looked at him.

“If you want me to do this it will cost you."
