Castro had come off age and gotten used to the environment. A lot of Monk Pat’s sojourners did refer to him as a mysterious child. There were some uncommon trait that he did limn that it had restricted the in flow of people into the temple. Sir Herbert had been one of the secret father of the child paying monthly visit to the temple and also consult the monk on some personal issues. Sir Herbert’s life hadn’t remained the same since he knew the monk and a lot of personal problem had been solvable.
Monk Pat was done having his morning prayer and he ambled down the steps up to his temple. Castro walked up to him. It was his birthday and there was a long time promise the monk made to him. It was a day he had been looking forward to. The first thing standing up from his bed was to go to the temple because he knew that where the monk would be. There were a lot of things he had heard from people who had come around the forest and was eager to know more.
Most of his questions had been turned down by Monk Pat because he didn’t want him to grow with that kinda mindset of grief. When the monk turned and saw him, he smiled, his mustache didn’t make it obvious.
“Castro. How are you?” Monk Pat asked.
“I am fine, father. Do you enjoy your night?”
“Yes, I did.”
“Today is my eighteenth birthday. You remember what’s you’ve promised to tell me about my origin and some mysterious dream I do have.”
The monk walked him to the nearby where a wooden chair was made. His hand was clutched around his neck as they walked to the chair, once they sat down, he removed his hand. Castro looked into his eyes. He had really looked weary and jaded. He had lived long enough. Monk Pat already knew the kinda death that he was going to die.
“Ok, let me tell you a story…” the monk began from when the prophecy about his coming to earth was prophesy.
They were seated for more than three hours while Monk Pat was telling him the story of his birth to how his mother died and how the death of his father was also destined. Sir Herbert wasn’t also exempted with the role he played in saving the life of Castro but he was powerless in saving her mother, Belleza.
It was an emotional moment for Castro. He didn’t even care about the nefarious fate the he was birthed with, what pained him most was the death of his father and mother. He believed it was all orchestrated by the government. Also learning the Humphrey’s family had turned the presidential position to family inheritance, it pained him to his bone marrow. Everything that he wanted to do was in his psyche.
“Castro. That’s all. I believe you’ve come off age to hold this tight in your heart and I believe you’ve gotten the emotional intelligence to held this in your heart and control your pains.”
“Thank you, father. Thank you!” He said.
While they hugged tightly, Sir Herbert was already at the entrance of the temple with his beautiful daughter. He had really grown old and had been contemplating on resigning from the position.
When Castro lifted his head and saw him, he looked at monk Pat and tweaked his head back to Sir Herbert and smiled. Sir Herbert had no idea of their smile. He understood Monk Pat will to keep most of the events from the boy and he wasn’t aware that it had been disclosed to him. It was Monk Pat that even demanded for his presence because it was Castro’s birthday. Sir Herbert had forgotten. He was always invited yearly when it was his birthday.
Monk Pat when on his toe to meet him as he walked gently to meet him. Castro follow his suit and they walked up to Sir Herbert.
“Welcome, Sir Herbert.”
“Thank you. This is one of my daughters, Olivia. I bring her here because of her insistence to visit the monk whom I do visit at the countryside,” Sir Herbert said.
“Wow. That’s great. She looks very much like you and beautiful.”
“Thank you. Castro, how are you?”
“I am fine, Sir Herbert. Thank you very much for saving my life. I will repay you for what you did for me. I am very grateful.”
Sir Herbert was left awestricken and he gazed at the monk with his mouth wide opened. He never knew that it had been disclose to him. Olivia the daughter of Sir Herbert was also confused because she never had the idea of what happened. Everything that happened had been a long time secret between Sir Herbert and monk Pat.
Monk had always insisted that Castro was found in the forest dropped by the gods when people wanted to question his origin. He was already lost looking at the monk and there was an absolute silence. The monk knew and thought of breaking the silence.
“Today is Castro’s birthday. That’s why I invited you here and I am glad you came with one of your daughters.”
Sir Herbert began to nod his head, “Huh! I forgot again.”
Sir Herbert wasn’t a great reminder of great occasions including his family’s. It was only a few times that he remember Castro’s birthday before he turned 18.
“Castro. I am glad your guardian have told you everything you need to know. I will implore you to always be for the people irrespective of the situation you might find yourself. Always be for the people and fight for the people.”
Castro nodded. Monk Pat led the way to his personal shed where he did receive most of his visitors. Monk Pat had been living an average life since he became monk and had turned down diverse request to have a more quality building in the environment. Monk Pat brought out the natural palm wine that he was always given by the palm wine tappers who did pass through his temple before going to their farm. Sir Herbert loved it so much that he did request to take some home.
A week later after Castro’s birthday, Monk Pat took a lengthy stroll to the forest as usual leaving Castro behind to look over the temple. Castro had had the long time plan of having a look at the city of Carten. He had lived all his life near the forest with the monk who seldom go out of the temple jurisdiction, his farthest visit had always been in the bush. The first time he entered UltraDope was when he was apprehended. When he returned to the temple, he saw everywhere quiet. He was expecting to see Castro running about and throwing stones at the birds of the sky as he always did.He wasn’t that concern when he didn’t see him at first, he thought maybe he went to the bush to pop or get something. Few minutes later, the concern was exacerbating in his psyche. He walked around and asked the forest sojourner if they saw him and none could give an answer. Some even avoided answering the question because Castro was like a plague due to some inhuman trait they had seen in him. “Where
Castro walked around the market square helter-skelter with the hope to also commence stealing since that’s what the jobless guys on the street did to survive. It was really a hard one for him being a novice, he kept having the reminiscent of how the money was removed from his pocket, at the end of the day, he concluded that it couldn’t be done alone. Hence, he made the decision to incorporate himself into those guys. His aim looking for those guys this time was to make friends with them, he was certain that they lived around the market. Amidst looking for them, he saw a store which no one was keeping an eye on. He twirled his eyes around and confirmed that they was no one keeping an eye on it. He ambled to the placement. There were myriad of fruit displayed which were captivating. His major interest was in the Apple which he seldom eat. That was the only fruit that he could hardly see in the forest when he did go with Monk Pat.Most of the times he did eat Apple was when his father’
At the end, one of the guys was convinced and felt like taking him in after the stories they heard from him. Although the story was kinda distorted so he wouldn’t be deported back to the temple. They walked to the apartment where they were staying. It was a single room and they all squat in it together. When they reached the apartment, Castro didn’t believe at first that it was meant for the group of guys. The guys were six in numbers, joining them made it seven. Castro was mostly loved by Emmett who was also an handsome young guys. He had been living on the street if Camyork since he was released from the prison. His life had been around gambling and engaging in illicit activities. Emmett and his colleagues could engage in anything as far as it could fetch them money. He sat Castro down forthwith they touched down in their swell and he went to put some water on the fire.“Hey, guy. The gas in that cylinder isn’t that much. You have to be careful with what you are using it for. This f
Castro was seated at a side as the guys began to gamble. Different kinds of gambling activities were going on. Although, the guys shared themselves. Gambling was also a source of income for them. They were at the gambling spot until it was evening. Castro was already jaded having seated for that lengthy hour at one spot. He had lost interest in whatsoever they were doing, although, he joined the guys as he saw them supporting different people. He threw his own support behind Emmett and he won the highest among his friend. Castro seemed to be a lucky charm he came to the gambling spot with.In the end, he lost interest as his voice was almost gone. There was no water that he could use to quench his thirst. He was jus twirling his eyes around like a headless chicken. Emmett seemed to have concluded playing as he had made enough for the day. That was the highest he would be making in a day. Most of the times he had gained some money from bets, it has always been after he had lost a lot a
“Run! Run!! Run!!!” The guy were shouting. They were being pursued by the state police after the constant complaint of the people towards the guys. They weren’t only the group who did engage in such activities. It was still dawn which they deemed perfect to execute their illicit activities. Castro, as he was running with the guys away from the police, he was thinking of what to do. There was no way they would be caught because some of the police men were on the bike riding through the narrow spaces and some were running after them.Castro ensured he was the last among them, he saw the need to sacrifice himself so the guys could flee. He stopped after grabbing his hand on a long bamboo stick and he held it with his chest high. He whacked the first police man who wanted to hit him with his bike. He laid the stick on the road and eloped. They went after him immediately, although, they had relaxed. It was against the law of the Carten Society for a police to shoot the citizen who they wer
A few weeks later, Sir Herbert paid a courtesy visit to Monk Pat after visiting the new Mayor of Vatice. This time, it was only him. He could have come with the national police but he didn’t want it known to Humphrey that he was still in touch with the monk so he wouldn’t raise any suspiciousness.Monk Pat was seated under one of the shed around his temple taking fresh air with his eyes glued to a direction. Monk Pat was already aware of Sir Herbert’s presence but he didn’t know. He kept walking gently thinking he was having a medication with the gods. He stood beside the chair he was seated on and the monk tweaked his head.“Sir Herbert. You can have your seat,” Monk Pat said.He was surprised, he thought he was carried away by the meditation. Sir Herbert sat down gently. Monk Pat adjusted and faced him with a smile.“How have you been?” Sir Herbert asked.“I have been doing marvellously well. How about you?”“I am good.”Sir Herbert was twirling his eyes around. He had never came vi
Emmett listened to his cries and later allowed him to go with them to UltraDope despite his colleagues against it. It was a lengthy hour of journey. It was stressful and sickening due to some environment encounter they had journeying through the land for such long distance. The apartment which had been rented for them, they were directed to the apartment and they would be meeting the person who sponsored them to UltraDope soon. They hadn’t known the particular occupation they had come to do. Castro thought, it was just a change of environment. The young man walked in with his two hands in his pocket. They assembled themselves and kept quiet because they were arguing before he entered. He was looking at the ground and his face didn’t seem friendly.“How are y’all?” asked Tyson. They were all shaking their head. Castro was awed by the trepidation that hit them that they couldn’t speak louder.“We are fine,” Castel responded loud and clear.“I was told that you guys are five. But I am
It was a hot afternoon when they were done working on the site. The relationship among them had been better as a result of better communication and they had gotten used to one another. Castro wasn’t only seen as a leader but a great gem who they were lucky to have amidst them as a result of diverse revelation they had over the period of time. They had also learnt of his dark fate which he had narrated to them.Alfie had been having the feeling of some missing pieces from the story he told them when they were still in Vatice. Due to the deteriorating relationship between them, he hadn’t been spurred to voice out and he had been able to do that recently.“When are we going to the sport centre?” Lowen asked.Emmett glanced at his wrist watch. It seemed they weren’t ready yet. The sport centre was a centre meant for myriad of sports which they did engage in. They mostly visit during the weekend to have some exercise and Sunday was meant for resting.“I am watching this evening Chelsea Mat
