Chapter 4
Author: Oldwell
The guests murmured in surprise. Arresting a criminal?

Kylie nodded vigorously, telling them everything that had happened at the airport. She felt confident about her judgment, that she wouldn’t have to deal with Remus Cosby anymore. She even pitied him a bit. The man had escaped from prison just to meet her again, but the price of that was likely another decade in jail.

“Oh, so it was just some hooligan. There I was, already preparing myself for Ms. Lotus.” Abel Lawson relaxed instantly.

Since that was the case, he still had time to plan.

Someone jumped at the opportunity to butter him up. “That hooligan should be taught a lesson for making Mr. Lawson worry like this.”

“I’ll have my police friends find out where he’s being held and have someone break his legs!”

“I have connections in prison, too. I’ll make sure that he’s taken care of every single day!”

Hearing all the discussions, Kylie pitied Remus even more. Remus’ remaining days in prison didn’t sound too good. But in any case, he had brought it upon himself.

She then thought of taking the chance to persuade Abel to award them the contract once again, but then her phone rang. She left the private room to answer it.

“Ahh!” she suddenly shrieked, the phone slipping from her grasp. Her shriek brought several guests from the private room out.

“Ms. Cox, are you alright?”

“What happened, Ms. Cox?”

Kylie didn’t seem to have heard them. She was still staring into the distance, eyeing a certain someone in the restaurant.

What was Remus Cosby doing here?!

The man just happened to notice her as well. He put his silverware down in exasperation. “All I wanted was just to have a quiet lunch,” he sighed, then got up to leave.

“Stop!” Kylie said through clenched teeth. What was he doing here? Was he really stalking her?!

She stormed up to him and cried, “I told you we don’t belong together, and I told you to stop following me! Are you deaf? Did you not hear me right?!”

The surrounding guests then understood that this man was a simp. No wonder Kylie was reacting so strongly.

Remus rolled his eyes. “When was I stalking you? Will you get out of my way?”

His tone upset several men, who decided to jump to Kylie’s rescue like knights in shining armor.

“Hey, watch your tone, buddy! I’ll rough you up!” someone cried, picking up a wine bottle menacingly.

Someone else roared, “You better apologize, or I’ll make sure you crawl out of here!”

“I say we whoop his ass right now!”

Everyone swiftly launched themselves at Remus, ready to swing their fists at his face at Kylie’s order.

Just then, Abel walked out of the private room and asked flatly, “Who is this, Ms. Cox?”

Kylie replied while glaring at Remus, “He’s the criminal from the airport that I told you about. I have no idea how he managed to escape again!”

The atmosphere in the restaurant immediately grew tense. Criminal? Escaped? Many of the wannabe white knights immediately shrunk back, their sharp accusations falling silent.

Even Abel tensed up, regretting coming out of the room.

Who would risk their lives by going head to head with an escaped criminal?

Remus was upset with Kylie’s accusation but didn’t make a move nor bother to explain himself. None of the surrounding guests seemed willing to cross him, so he could let it pass. Instead, he walked past Kylie, heading right for the entrance.

“Don’t you dare walk out that door!” Kylie cried again. “Swear to me right now that you’re never going to show yourself in my presence ever again, or you won’t be leaving here at all!”

She needed to make sure she would never see him again, once and for all.

Remus’ eyes darkened, and his demeanor immediately turned hostile. Even the surrounding guests felt it.

He hated when people threatened him. If Kylie weren’t a girl, he would’ve done something to her the first time she talked to him this way. Yet here she was, testing his patience again and again.

“How do you plan on stopping me from leaving?” he asked slowly.

Kylie felt like she was in the crosshairs of a dangerous beast. Her sudden recollection that Remus was a criminal added to her fear.

But she couldn’t surrender now. “Mr. Reyes, call those police friends of yours now!”

Reyes had mentioned that he could have his friends arrest Remus, so she would make that happen right now!

“I…” The man stepped back in shock. “N-no, I don’t know anyone.”

He’d probably get beaten up before his friends arrived, so there was no way that he would do that.

“Mr. Reyes?” Kylie frowned, then turned to the man beside him. “You said you had connections in prison, right, Mr. Williams? Maybe one of them is this criminal’s boss!”

Mr. Williams leapt back. He couldn’t risk calling someone who knew this criminal! “No, no, I don’t have any!”

“What…?” Kylie was nearly at a loss now. She gazed desperately at the men around her, hoping one of them would come to her rescue. Yet none of them met her gaze.

Only an idiot would risk their life by going up against a convicted criminal!

Still unwilling to give up, Kylie turned to Abel. He was the most powerful person here.

The man cussed her out internally but kept his polite expression on. He forced a hideous smile. “Kid, if you need a job now that you’re free, I have a vacant position you can take. Five thousand minimum right now.”

Mr. Reyes leapt at the chance too. “I’m hiring too!”

“This is your chance to make it big, kid. Mr. Lawson doesn’t hire just anybody!”

They all tried to appeal to Remus, hoping to get in his good graces.

“Heh.” Remus scoffed. “Five thousand? Those chumps in prison pay me at least a million dollars just to avoid getting beaten up. Now, scram!”

His words left the men speechless and embarrassed.

“Remus Cosby!” Kylie yelled angrily. Abel Lawson was her one-way ticket to career stability. She couldn’t let him be humiliated! “Your stupid little game disgusts me! I’ll let you off again, but I’ll make sure you beg me for mercy next time!”

She didn’t have time to prepare for their encounter because it was so sudden. Next time, she needed to make sure she was ready for it. All she needed was the right connections.

The men were plotting silently too. They would teach the kid a lesson if it were the last thing they did!

“Who do you want begging for mercy?” someone suddenly called from the entrance. An old man, followed by several bodyguards, walked in.

Abel and the men jumped in surprise.

This man was a highly influential person in Neptuna!

This was the Bowen family’s butler, Mr. Anderson! He was the one who always received Abel in Elias Bowen’s house.“Mr. Anderson!” Abel ran up to greet him. “What brings you here?”“Afternoon, Mr. Anderson!”“Good day, sir.”Several other people piped up.The butler didn’t spare them a glance. Instead, he walked up to Remus and said respectfully, “I apologize for all this hostility. I’ll make sure everything is settled accordingly here.”He then turned to Kylie, barking, “How dare you insult and threaten Mr. Bowen’s esteemed guest?”Kylie flinched, staring unseeingly at the ground in shock.Beside her, the men looked around, confused. Elias Bowen’s guest? Wasn’t Remus an escaped criminal?“Apologize to Mr. Cosby right now, or you’ll regret it!” the butler barked again.Kylie’s face had paled drastically. In Neptuna, the Cox family was no match for the Bowen family. Their butler alone could sentence her to death, and no one could raise a finger in protest!Kyle was at a loss f

The Dragon Head?Elias and Brianne glanced at each other in shock upon hearing that name. Of course, they knew who he was and how influential he was in the city’s underground dealings. But what was he doing here of all places?“Welcome him inside right now!” Elias ordered. Yes, he was the richest man in the city, but he still couldn’t risk offending Anthony Mark, given his position.“Just in time. Maybe your friend knows the Dragon Head, hm?” Brianne mocked Remus once more. Most of the prisoners from Neptuna were disciples of the Dragon Head’s guild, after all. Remus’ friends might even turn tail upon seeing his boss!“Heh,” was Remus’ response. It pissed Brianne off to no end. Even Elias ground his teeth for a bit after hearing that. They were going to enjoy seeing the Dragon Head put him in his place.Just then, Mr. Anderson led Anthony in. Elias immediately greeted him with a smile. “Lady Luck has graced us with your presence, Mr. Dragon Head.”“Welcome, sir,” Brianne greeted

Wasn’t this the Working Emperor’s villa?Could she…could she be that sugar baby the man had kept around?Remus thought it might be possible. She seemed like one of those mistresses left alone without their lover.“You could live here too,” she purred, rubbing Remus’ chest. “Why don’t you go upstairs first, hm? I’ll be right there, and then we can enjoy ourselves properly.”This was the first time a woman had touched Remus. His heart felt like it might explode. He silently cursed the Working Emperor for letting this happen. He peeled away from her touch and dashed upstairs, heading right into the shower.“Hmm…” The woman laughed, then called out, “Remember to wash yourself clean and wait for me in bed!”In the next second, her expression fell, and she used her phone to order several guards to come wait in the living room. They were all dressed in tunics lined with gold.“Miss!” they greeted politely, standing in line. She had already put on modest clothes by this time. “A man s

Remus’ body began to react illogically. He leapt away from her, clasping the quilt tightly around his torso. “Stay back!”Curse that old man, Tyson!Jean burst into laughter at his silliness. “Haha, you’re adorable! Lucky for you, I don’t bite. But hey, why don’t you join me for an event this evening? You can’t refuse. Think of it as repayment for beating up my guards.” Remus agreed. He didn’t have any plans in Neptuna tonight. “So can you leave now?”“Nope,” Jean teased. “I still want to sleep with you. Come over here and let me feel you…”Remus swiftly escaped from her grasp and left the room.He later went to Neptunus Equestrian Race Tracks. (Might as well. He didn’t want to risk losing his virginity back at Imperial Villa, and he had nowhere else to go.)“Did you hear that Ms. Lotus is hosting a press conference tonight?”“I heard she had come to Neptuna weeks ago to secretly observe the market and potential partners here. She’ll be announcing who she chose as her partner

Everyone glanced at each other in confusion.Honor their losing promises? Was Remus admitting defeat?Miranda thought Remus was going that route too, given he probably didn’t know how to ride a horse. He’d stayed for two million but left yesterday when he was offered one million. So he was greedy!Just then…“Heee-!” With a loud neigh, Ben’s prize horse jumped back on its hind legs, then began bucking, as if in distress. The crowd stepped back in shock. What was happening to the horse?Ben had nearly fallen off with the first buck. He gaped in shock at the horse he had tamed three years ago.He clasped onto the reins and snapped his whip, yelling, “Whoa, easy, easy! I still need to win that race! Stop it!”But the horse only bucked fiercer the more Ben whipped it.Remus smirked. He had learned to ride tigers and bears in the forests while training under his master’s tutelage. Horses were a piece of cake.He snapped his fingers once again. This time the horse bucked with all f

Elias knew he would only get answers by mentioning the marriage agreement.Sure enough, Anthony’s attitude did a 180-degree turn. No wonder Remus didn’t have him do anything to the Bowen family yesterday. Anthony would’ve gotten into big trouble if he had.“I see!” He chuckled. “To be frank with you, Eli, I’m not sure about Mr. Cosby’s identity either. A friend of mine asked me to help him while he’s in town. That's all.”He couldn’t reveal it was his Temple Lord who gave the order.Friend? Elias hummed. This friend must be powerful; otherwise, the Dragon Head himself wouldn’t be so subservient to Remus.“Did this friend of yours stay in prison for some time?”That must be the only way Remus had come to know this mystery person.“Yes. They’re currently still in prison.”Elias nodded to himself in understanding. Beside him, Brianne scoffed. “See? I told you Remus Cosby was just a lackey. He might just be the guy who scrubbed that other guy’s toilet for three years in prison!”E

”Hold up!” Bald Richard called out, then carefully eyed Remus again.People usually cowered at the sound of his name, so this young man really stood out. Bald Richard suspected that he was hiding something. Heck, he even dared to call the Dragon Head by name. “You know the Dragon Head?” Bald Richard asked tentatively.“Ask him that yourself,” Remus retorted.Everyone realized how much of a big shot he was. No wonder he didn’t keep quiet or grovel before Bald Richard. Even the guy that was going to beat Remus up started to fear for his own safety.Kylie frowned. Did Remus really know the Dragon Head?Just then, Bald Richard’s phone call went through. His demeanor immediately turned sheepish as he asked, “Dragon Head, sir, are you busy right now?”“Get to the point!” Anthony snapped. He was angry because he had just been informed of Remus Cosby’s true identity. Apparently, he wasn’t a highly-respected person; he was just some guy who had scrubbed the Temple Lord’s toilet!Yes, h

The name sounded familiar to the guard. He glanced at him and told him to wait before turning toward the suite to report.“Watch the cavalry sent across the vast lands. I’m in the eye of the storm with…” Anthony stood in the middle, singing his lungs out. He liked the song “Five Hundred More Years;” he found it majestic. He frowned when the guard entered. “What’s the matter?”Anthony hated people walking around while he was singing. The guard bent down and whispered, “Mr. Mark, someone named Remus Cosby is looking for you.”Remus Cosby? Him again?Anthony’s expression changed as he thought, “Is this how Bald Richard takes care of things? I ordered him to cripple Remus, yet he’s at my door, looking for me?”“Tell him to leave. Tell him I’m not here!” Anthony said irritably. It would’ve all been fine if his subordinates had paralyzed Remus. However, if he did it and Remus reported it to the Temple Lord, it would attract unnecessary trouble.“Understood.” The guard turned and saw

Based on the analysis, this was indeed the case. Remus had been gone for so long, and the fact that Tyson, as his mentor, hadn't shown up yet was quite unusual. So, what was he planning?Just as everyone was speculating, Francis suddenly spoke up. "Amez is coming with Amelicon's deities."Everyone suddenly turned to look at him, their eyes widening uncontrollably. Did he just say Amez was about to arrive?Even though they already knew they would be coming, hearing it directly from Francis was still quite shocking.Francis ignored their expressions and continued, "So, no matter what the Monarch's mentor is plotting, it no longer matters. The most important thing right now is figuring out how to get through the present situation."Everyone else's expression became serious. Francis' words made sense.Bringing up Tyson was merely a distraction from their argument about the Three Realms' ruler. While it was important to investigate what Tyson was planning, it was less significant comp

"It can only be me!" Francis immediately added. As soon as these words were spoken, everyone instinctively looked at Roman. Since none of them were eligible to compete, Francis' comments were directed solely at him. How would he respond?Roman's expression changed, and he was unsure of how to respond. If he acknowledged Francis, wouldn't that mean admitting defeat, rendering all his previous efforts futile? Additionally, it was embarrassing. But if he refused to acknowledge Francis, his current capabilities just didn't allow it. There was no way for him to win against Francis at the moment. What should he do?After a moment of reflection, he replied, "With external threats looming, it's too early to consider this issue. We don't even know if we can withstand the current challenge. If we manage to get through it, there's still time to think about that later."He could only delay the matter now.Francis said calmly, "It's precisely because we are facing external threats that there

Finally, Roman crashed against the giant blade, and a sudden loud boom rang out. Then, something completely unexpected happened—the massive blade suddenly shattered like glass. Countless fragments scattered through the air like shooting stars, flying a short distance away before disappearing completely. As for Roman, he remained in the same spot where the massive blade used to be, completely unharmed.Roman burst into an exaggerated and unprecedented laugh, echoing continuously through the space."Why did this happen?""Could it be that the emperor has had a secret plan all along?""But the emperor wasn't protected by any energy. He shouldn't have been able to shatter the giant blade.""Why..."The four ghost kings were utterly shocked and couldn't believe their eyes. Francis responded succinctly, and as soon as these words were spoken, the blade started dropping down on Roman. The ghost kings' expressions drastically changed, filled with terror in an instant, forgetting to even fight back.On the other hand, Roman knew he had to defend himself but continued to persevere, not believing that Francis would go to such extremes. But at that moment, Kaiser shouted from below, "Wait!"Kaiser had witnessed the entire scene and was already completely stunned by the suddenness of everything. Hearing these straightforward words, Roman, the four ghost kings, and Kaiser were all stunned. They couldn't help but widen their eyes in shock. Why would Amez help him recover? The implications behind this fact were hugely problematic."Why… Why did he help you recover?" Roman still asked. The ghost kings were trembling more and more noticeably. Kaiser also began to shake uncontrollably because he already had a bad feeling about the situation.Francis openly stated, "Because I promised to be his inside contact for attacking Darsia, making it easier for him to take over this land. Do you think there's any other reason he would help me?"Francis burst into laughter, one that was openly and extremely mocking, deeply disdainful. The four ghost kings stepped back simultaneously upon hearing these words, driven by a mix of fear, but also because it was an uncontrollable reaction. To be honest, just facing Francis alone was already beyond their capabilities.
