Chapter Sixteen

Sheila regarded Keith with a look of amusement, stunned that he had the bravery to show his face to her family after all the putting him in his place that she had done. Her eyes raked over the repulsing lowlife, glaring at him with flared nostrils. Keith has clearly not been suffering, she noted, comparing the Keith before her now and the Keith she had seen last when he was sobbing pathetically behind bars.

The first time she met Keith, it had been hate at first sight. He was poor yet a hopeless dreamer aiming for things that someone like him shouldn't dream about, like herself for example. She shunned him multiple times but had to change tactics after he somehow managed to get a deal her father had been after, a deal that had belonged to her father. So she went after him, promising her father to get back what should have been rightfully his and get back at Keith.

“Frank isn't a loan shark?” Keith repeated, a bit of his resolve dissolving but he quickly covered it up.

She scoffed,
