The worry gnawed at Christopher and Laura as they attempted to reach Christopher's parents again in thirty minutes. With each unanswered call, their concern deepened, and a sense of unease settled in.

"I don't understand why they're not picking up. This isn't like them," Christopher said, frustration evident in his voice.
