She doesn’t want this issue to tarnish her name, her family and the brand of her company. Not to mention the negative effect that her daughter would receive if she has to grow up while having such a scandal in her life.
“Didn’t we already give it to him?” asks Sofia desperately.
“After learning our situation, he changed his mind and asked for more,” explains Dylan.
“How much?”
“Five hundred grands, in cash. This time, he promised that he will give all the evidences he has to us.”
Sofia finds it hard to stay standing on her feet. She feels like the house is swaying like it is a ship on the sea.
She tries to reach a chair, and then takes a seat. She has paid that man Dylan mentioned before for $500k, and now she has to pay for more.
“I suggest you comply with his demand. It’s nothing compared to what will happen if he shares those pictures to the public,” suggests Dylan flatly. “Or, we can hire a hitman to kill that man.”
“A hitman?” grumbles Sofia with a disbelieving face. “Are you out of your mind? I’m trying to avoid any scandals here. And you talk about hiring a hitman? Your lunatic idea will only put me into more trouble.”
Dylan just keeps his flat face, while Sofia has only become even more impatient and frustrated because of that lunatic idea. But really, she doesn’t have that much choice and is not in a good condition to make a decision.
“Okay, I’ll prepare the money later,” she replies. “Now can you just leave me alone?!”
Dylan nods by showing his gloomy face like he sympathizes with what Sofia is suffering from. But soon after he gets out of that room, his face turns so bright despite the pain in his face.
Even by seeing his spirited face, Georgina and Giana know exactly what they are going to get. They rush to him expecting for a good news.
“So? What did she say? How much you asked?” whispers Giana after holding her giggles.
“Not here, you moron!” Dylan denies immediately. “Don't get too hyped yet! I haven't received the money, and she could just change her mind later.”

The next day, Alex visits EightG main office, Harry’s biscuit company. Nelson, that youngster who self labelled himself as The 2nd Top G in Sydney, welcomes Alex in place of his father.
Unlike in their previous meeting, Nelson treats Alex in a civilized manner considering his role as one of the Vice Presidents of the company.
“This is the meeting room of this department. They don’t have any meetings for this week, so you can use this place,” says Nelson.
Alex realizes there is already a stack of documents on the table. And there is one middle-age lady with glasses coming in by bringing another stack of that financial report.
She is Julia Henderson, the chief in charge of the finance department. She actually had ordered one of her men to deliver the documents to this room. But for this last one, she chooses to deliver it herself, only to show her displeasure at Alex's request directly.
She drops the document on the table hardly. She looks quite annoyed, deliberately standing straight toward Alex by showing her unfriendly gesture.
“That’s it! The finance report for the last 7 years. Anything else?” she asks.
“That’s it for now,” replies Alex by ignoring how annoyed that lady is. “I’ll call you later if I need something.”
The lady lifts her glasses slightly, takes one step forward and starts lecturing Alex. By putting her left hand on the waist, she keeps pointing a finger at Alex as she talks.
“I’m The Chief Financial Officer in this company! Not just simply a clerk whom you can just order around. And I’m much older than you!”
“Thank you for the introduction. But, it would be better if you start it by mentioning your name first, so I know how to call you when I need a cup of coffee,” replies Alex flatly.
“You?!”
The lady grumbles, but she finds it hard to utter a word. Alex quite understands why she is so annoyed by him, because he is going to examine the error in the financial report done by her department. But he doesn't seem too care that much.
“May I know your background, Mr…”
“Alexander Davis,” says Alex. “You can just call me Alex.”
“So, Mr. Alexanderrr!” grumbles Julia by holding her irritation. ”What graduate are you from? What's your educational background? Are you from a reputable consulting firm?”
“Nothing! I’m just Alex, and I’m here to represent myself. Have no educational background, and never take any formal school. Not even the elementary one,” explains Alex.
“Are you insulting me? Have no educational background you said. Yet you came here trying to find the error in my work like you have any competency and credibility to do so.”
That lady averts her attention to Nelson, and that youngster immediately tries to reason with her.
“Please, Julia! He came here based on my dad’s request. Just let him cook!”
Alex immediately averts his face to Nelson with a bit of cringed expression.
“Hey, watch your words,” says Alex nonchalantly.
“I mean, let him do his job,” continues Nelson awkwardly.
Julia looks a bit curious with the change in Nelson’s attitude. So far, she always found him so rash and arrogant like common spoiled rich kids. But today, he suddenly becomes so well-mannered like he just received some kind of revelation.
It only adds her curiosity about Alex's identity. She then pulls a chair and simply takes a seat.
“If he is going to look for an error in that financial report, at least let me stay here and observe how he works.”
“Fine by me,” replies Alex.
Alex goes straight to the pile of financial reports. He takes a chair, and then starts flipping the first page of the report. Not knowing what to do there, Nelson just leaves them alone.
Julia looks so confused and curious with what Alex is doing. There’s no tool, no note. He doesn’t even hold any pen at all.
All Alex does is just examining the data. He doesn’t take too much time with one page, and then moves to the other page like a toddler playing with a photo album.
An hour, two hours, and all Alex does is just flipping pages. It only makes Mrs. Julia even more annoyed and frustrated.
“Scammer,” she grumbles with a restrained voice as she takes her leave.
However, not long after she leaves that room, she stops and turns back for a moment. Her face looks a bit worried by something, until one of her subordinates greets her.
“Mam?!”
“Oh, Alice!”
“Do you need anything?”
Julia shakes her head awkwardly before turning away. But soon after that, she immediately turns back and holds that female staff member.
“Could you prepare a cup of coffee for that man over there?”
Alice averts her attention to Alex who is currently occupied by his work. And then, Julia brings her face closer to Alice’s ear and starts whispering something.
“If possible, drop the coffee right onto the document he is working on.”
“But…”
“Just make it look like an accident.”
“But why?”
“Why not! He is trying to put a shame on our department. He is trying to look for an error in our financial report for the past 7 years. And he does it without even taking a note. So let him taste how hard it is to work with that report.”
“But then, he will just ask us to prepare another document,” complains the girl with a pitiful face.
“Then we have a reason to question his credibility to judge our work,” replies Julia confidently before she heads back to the meeting room.
She cancels her intention to get back to her office, and takes a seat back at that conference table again.
Unlike before, her face looks a bit calm knowing that Alex is still doing the same thing, examining the document without taking any note. A few moments later, Alice comes in by bringing a pot of coffee and one empty cup. She puts the cup on the table near Alex, and offers him the coffee. Due to being at his peak concentration, Alex doesn’t respond to her. That’s when Alice deliberately spills the coffee while pouring it into the cup. It startles Alex, and he immediately takes the document away. However, one side of the document has been wet by the coffee. Not to mention that Alice made the coffee so thick and hot, making most texts and numbers on the left side of that document so hard to examine. “Aah, I’m sorry! I, I…” Oddly, Alex doesn’t seem too bothered by it. “It’s okay. I’ve finished with everything on that part. You don’t need to worry about that.” “But…” Alex just smiles peacefully, and then separates the other documents from the financial report from 7 years ago which
He finds it hard to hold it. So he heads straight to the kindergarten where his daughter should be at these hours. However, he is aware that he can't forcefully meet with Elly at the moment.Instead, he decides to wait at a coffee shop across the road, hoping for an opportunity to encounter Sofia when she comes to pick up their daughter.Until at some point, he gets a phone call from Harry Gaines.[Where are you?]“In a coffee shop.”[A lunch break? I heard you were taking your leave to get back home]“Yeah, I'm done!”[Hey, you asked me $150K for a day, so I expect you to take your job seriously]“Rest assured! Like I said, I'm done. So you don’t need to pay me for tomorrow. I'll give my assessment later.”Alex immediately turns off the call and heads back home with a tired face. Yes, he is back home, not to Boris’ apartment.Just because Sofia has kicked him out of her family, doesn’t mean he doesn’t have anything. Even before marrying Sofia, he already had a house in a quiet neighb
That middle aged lady looks a bit clueless, until Alex commands her to look for the data from five years ago. “Let’s check on your expenditure for wheat flour in March!” Alex issues. Julia follows it with an unsure expression. On the other hand, Harry Gaines also checks on Alex’s file for the same month, focusing on that said commodity. “Based on the amount you bought, and the total price you paid, it can be concluded that you are buying at a base price of...” Julia immediately takes out her phone, and looks for the calculator application to calculate the base price. But... “It was $7.46 per kilogram,” continues Alex after taking a few seconds in recalling the data and calculating the numbers. It stuns Julia for a moment. But she still thinks that Alex is just bluffing, so he rushes to use her calculator and calculates it herself, only to find the exact same numbers, 7.46. However, the document in Harry’s hand shows that the average price for that commodity for that month was on
Alex raises one of his eyebrows. He then smiles with a silly face by tilting his head a bit to take a look at Julia Henderson before giving his reply to Harry Gaines.“You see! I’m a man of my word, and I’ve promised something to her. If you hire me as a CEO, you have to ignore whatever she has done. Is that okay with you?”Harry takes a dissatisfied sigh once before he gives a nod. Julia’s face drastically changes just to see that one nod, feeling so grateful with what Alex has done for her.But Harry still puts on a cold face towards Julia, and then instructs her to call all the names she mentioned earlier.“Bring them all here!”Julia gives a quick response with her nod a few times and rushes outside. But then after she just passes Alex, she turns back and expresses her gratitude.“I will never forget this debt of gratitude. Thank You!”Alex smiles with a satisfied face as he watches her leave. “Mr. Harry! That’s how you gain someone’s trust. You don’t always need to use power to g
But Alex makes a quick judgment, knocking Darnel away, and steps on the gun at the same time to prevent Harry from picking it. “Don’t ever think about killing him,” warns Alex as he flaps his hanky before using it to pick the gun. “He still has your money. If you kill him, you will lose all of them. And you will only get into more trouble to coveryour crime.” The thing is, Harry’s face is still looking so pale. He is now considering Darnel, the trusted right hand, as a serious threat to his life. His instinct tells him that he needs to erase that threat while he has the chance. He knows Alex’s warning is a reasonable one. However, hestillcoldly asks for the gun fromhim. Oddly,Alex nonchalantly givesthe guntoHarry without showing so much concern anymore. “At least,I’ve warned you,”h
“Hey!” calls Harry, making Darnel startles right on the door. “Don’t forget, you still owe me 4 million dollars.”Darnel only glances a bit to the back, only for a moment, before he really takes his leave without saying anything.A moment later, Harry notices the wet part on his carpet because of Darnel’s urine. It only makes him regret not hitting that man’s face for the last time before he left. He then averts his attention back to Alex with a tired face before getting back to his chair.“Just two days since I hired you, and look at what has happened here!”“Honestly, I asked for your financial report with the intention only to use it as a start, before investigating what’s wrong with your way of conducting your business. I didn’t expect the issue was really there, exactly in that financial report. You can say that I was lucky to notice it,” explains Alex.“Doing it in just a day is not lucky,” Harry compliments.“Well, I planned to do it for a week, at least expecting 750 Grands fr
Sofia sighs once, and her facial expression immediately turns so sour. She then turns away, heading to her desk to pick some documents, and then walks out of that office. “I have a serious meeting right now. Can’t we postpone this issue for later?” That change of attitude from Sofia makes Dylan even more annoyed. To make things even more annoying to him, she deliberately prevents him from joining the meeting. “Why are you still following me?” “You said we have a meeting.” “I have a meeting, not you!” argues Sofia. “Now, why don’t you get back to your office. I mean, not your office, but my office that you currently take for the moment.” “What’s this? Are you dissing me out now? After kicking your husband, you are going to throw me away? And what’s next? My mom and my sister?” “Hey, h
Meanwhile, Alex himself is right in front of that office at the moment, intending to salvage his marriage with Sofia for the sake of their daughter. He still has no proof of his innocence regarding the slander that was accused of him. He just hopes he could convince Sofia, as he believes this is just a misunderstanding. But sadly…“Please, Mr. Davis! We really can’t let you in,” says one of the security guards.Alex scrunches his face with that treatment. On the other hand, he sees an outsider has just come, and is casually walking into the lobby. Yet those guards don’t even care at all.“What the…” mumbles Alex confusedly. “Hey! I know I’m no longer your boss, but, what’s with this treatment? You let that man in, but not me?”“The order was only to not let you get into the lobby. I beg of you, Sir! It’s not easy for me to treat you this way. So please, don’t force me to do any worse than this.”Alex steps back with a dissatisfied face. However, he feels not so right to push his way,
