Chapter 4: Xingxing City Gate, Special Plaque

Both opponents used sharp-edged staffs as their weapons. They immediately slashed the staffs towards Tian Yun's neck. However, once again, the young man used his time-control technique, causing their movements to slow down. Then, he easily dodged their attacks while delivering a kick to both of them.

Thud!

"Ukhh!"

Tian Yun's two opponents almost fell flat on their faces when his kick landed on their backs. Fortunately, being highly skilled, they rolled on the ground, preventing themselves from collapsing.

Then they stood up straight, once again exchanging glances. They truly couldn't understand how Tian Yun could move faster than they did.

At that moment, Tian Yun was standing tall, looking at his two opponents with his arms folded across his chest. He was smiling half-mockingly at his adversaries.

This, of course, only increased the curiosity of the two opponents about what was happening. They then performed a sealing technique to trap Tian Yun, preventing him from escaping or receiving help from anyone outside.

Tian Yun's two attackers had suspected that the young man was being aided by someone nearby. That’s why they now use the Dragon Imprisoning Seal to ensure he can't go anywhere.

The seal they set up was so strong that even external help couldn't reach Tian Yun, who was trapped within the imprisoning array. After successfully trapping the young master of the family, the two attackers prepared once again to finish off their target.

"Hiaaaat!"

Both opponents shouted simultaneously as they thrust their palms toward Tian Yun. A long beam of light shot toward Tian Yun, who was trapped in the Dragon Confinement Array. This time, it seemed Tian Yun would not survive. His time manipulation technique was ineffective while he was in the enemy's trap.

"Shield Seal Technique!"

A girl's cry came from Tian Yun's right. Simultaneously, a shield appeared right in front of Tian Yun. Then a white shadow emerged, standing right beside Tian Yun.

A beautiful girl, around 16 years old, now stood next to the young man. The two enemies' attacks were suddenly dispersed by the protective seal that stretched out. Even the dragon confinement seal they created dissipated.

"Miss Yuan!" one of the attackers exclaimed, surprised by the appearance of the girl now standing to the right of the young man.

"Brother, we better leave this place. We must avoid getting involved with the Yuan family, especially without revealing our identities," said the other masked attacker.

The other attacker, who was called a brother, nodded his head. Shortly after, they fled the scene. Now, only Tian Yun and his savior remained.

"Are you okay?" asked the girl referred to as Miss Yuan.

Tian Yun shook his head and said, "Thank you!"

Miss Yuan smiled at Tian Yun's stiff-sounding gratitude. She then darted away, leaving the young man after giving him a sweet smile. In an instant, she vanished from Tian Yun's sight.

"Fifth-level Martial Master." Tian Yun murmured while gazing in the direction Miss Yuan had gone.

If it hadn't been Tian Yuan who witnessed the girl's prowess, anyone else would have been astounded. At such a young age, the girl had already reached the level of a martial arts master. A talent that is exceedingly rare for a girl of her age.

Tian Yun continued his journey. This time, the young man used his body-lightening technique to move faster. His journey was hindered several times, causing him to be slightly late in registering at the Heavenly Star Pavilion. He was worried that the registration would be closed and he would fail to join the great sect.

Not long after, Tian Yun arrived at the city gate of Xingxing. There were no more obstacles hindering his journey, so he reached the entrance gate of the Heavenly Star Pavilion. Thousands of people could be seen heading toward the great sect. In front of and behind Tian Yun, many young people were arriving to register.

“State your name and city of origin when registering. If you have a letter of recommendation, show it as well!” said one of the guards at the entrance gate of the Heavenly Star Pavilion.

One by one, the prospective students approached the guard post, which also served as the registration place. There, they had to undergo a skill test. At the very least, they had to have successfully formed their own martial spirit, meaning they needed to be at the first level of the Earth Spirit realm.

Quite a few of the young applicants in front of Tian Yun were disappointed not to be accepted into the Heavenly Star Pavilion. Only a few young people were left before it was Tian Yun’s turn. Judging by the number of young people returning disappointed, perhaps only about five people had passed and entered for the next stage of selection.

“Tian Yun, from Zhuansi,” said Tian Yun, showing the plaque given by his grandfather.

The selection officer immediately stood up upon seeing the plaque. Tian Yun did not know the significance of the plaque he showed. All he knew was that, with the plaque, he was allowed to enter directly without going through the testing process.

“You may enter directly!” said the officer.

Tian Yun was quite surprised. Unlike the others, who had to go through two testing stones first, he was now allowed to go straight inside. After pausing for a moment, Tian Yun proceeded from the guard post into the pavilion. He realized that the plaque was a special token that smoothed his path.

“Wait! Even though he has a special recommendation letter from someone, he still needs to demonstrate the level of his body cultivation and the purity of his soul.”

A loud shout made Tian Yun halt his steps. A man dressed entirely in white, with equally white hair, emerged from within.

The face of the elderly man, who appeared to be about 60 years old, looked stern and authoritative. Seeing who had arrived, the guards at the entrance of the Heavenly Star Pavilion immediately stood before the old man.

“All students pay respect to the great teacher, the Vice Chairman of the Heavenly Star Pavilion!” shouted the students of the Heavenly Star Pavilion in unison while taking a kneeling position.

“Rise! Continue your duties!” said the Vice Chairman of the Heavenly Star Pavilion. He then turned his gaze to Tian Yun.
