Chapter 8

Grandpa read all the reports Ana gave today and thought what Gerald did was stupid. The woman reported the actions taken by the new owner of the Wayne Corporation, not expecting her grandson to receive a cooperation contract with the Kyle Group, which was only a small company.

"So far, that's all the young master has done," Ana reported.

"What is Gerald thinking? If this collaboration is successful, we will only gain a few percent of Wayne Corporation's shares, doesn't he think this is a waste of energy?" Wayne's grandfather asked disapprovingly.

"It seems that Mr. Gerald has a special grudge against the Kyle Group," said Ana.

"He is his wife's family, but I didn't expect Gerald would actually do this to make up for his heartache," added Grandpa Wayne.

"Then what should I do, sir? Should I cancel the cooperation agreement with the Kyle Group?" Ana asked for reassurance.

"No, don't do that. To cover the operational costs that will occur in this collaboration, it's better to make news that Wayne Corporation has changed hands and is opening a massive collaboration project to build West Albi worth five trillion. There will definitely be many small companies like "Kyle Group is the one who proposed the contract with which we can cover all the costs incurred so far," said Grandpa Wayne.

"Okay, I will do it, sir," said Ana.

Ana immediately carried out Grandpa Wayne's request as if it was as easy as turning the palm of her hand. Not long after, the news that Grandpa Wayne had asked for quickly spread throughout West Island City.

The new identity of the owner of the Wayne Corporation has made many people wonder about Grandpa Wayne's missing first grandson and has now become a topic of conversation, because all this time everyone on West Island believed that the Wayne Corporation would only be passed on to his rich and arrogant granddaughter, namely Kate. They did not expect that another grandson would now take over ownership of the company.

Christian had also heard the news about the transfer of ownership of the new Wayne Corporation, starting to feel worried when he saw the news and linked it to his past memories of seeing the owner of the Wayne Corporation taking a photo with baby Gerald.

"Is my hunch really true or not, that Gerald is the owner of grandfather's inheritance?" Christian thought.

Christian felt his heart beat fast when he realized the fact that Gerald was Grandpa Wayne's first grandson who had been hidden all this time. His eyes and hands trembled as he thought about the consequences he would face for his family's honor and ambition being hurt, he would definitely take revenge for all the cunning deeds he had done so far in taking over the company and bringing down Gerald's father until he lay weak in the hospital.

"It can't be that Gerald is Grandpa Wayne's grandson? If that was true, I would have known all along," said Christian again. Christian continues to struggle with his suspicions about the main heir to the Corporation group.

The news about Wayne's transfer of ownership had reached Grandma Kyle's ears, she was even more excited and pounding, not wanting to miss this moment, immediately gathering all her family members.

"What's the matter with grandma gathering us?" Renal asked lazily because he saw Harley taking her husband immediately.

 “Sit down!” said Kyle's grandmother.

"I didn't expect you to still have the looks you came here," Renal quipped at Gerald.

"Shut your mouth, he is still my husband and part of this family," defended Harley.

"Come on, you know very well how useless he is in front of all of us, even daring to tear up a contract worth three billion," Renal chuckled.

"Isn't that good for you? Do you have the opportunity to take out a new contract?" Harley replied.

Harley's words made Renal numb. Gerald, who was standing behind Harley, held back his laughter and muttered to himself that this arrogant man would never get a contract with the Wayne Corporation.

"Stop all your arguing! This is a great opportunity, you should support each other, not insult each other," interrupted Kyle's grandmother.

"Our grandmother has heard the news too," said Renal.

"Yes, the old owner of the Wayne Corporation has announced that he has bequeathed all his new assets to his first grandson and opened a massive cooperation contract to a small company worth five trillion," said the grandmother.

"Then what do you want? Didn't Harley already get the contract?" asked Gerald's mother-in-law.

"Even though Harley has received the contract, my mother's son-in-law has ignored it," said Renal.

"What does Renal mean?" he asked.

"He has torn up the cooperation contract and it is impossible for us to get a new contract," replied Renal.

The mother-in-law's eyes widened in surprise as her hands clenched into tight fists in annoyance, staring at her useless son-in-law, Gerald, full of anger. However, the man remained silent and lowered his head until suddenly Grandma stood up.

"There's no need to bring up the past. Renal, didn't you promise to get a new contract, why keep discussing it? Could it be that you don't want the contract with Harley to be canceled?" accused Grandma.

"No! It's not like that, it's just that we wasted such an expensive contract just because of a stupid and useless human like Gerald," replied Renal.

"Never mind, weren't you able to get a new cooperation contract with Wayne Corporation? Why do you have to keep discussing my stupidity this afternoon? Don't you have connections and a smart brain to get a new cooperation contract?" quipped Gerald.

"Enough, don't interfere with our affairs, you won't understand this kind of work because your status is just a poor, useless daughter-in-law," replied Renal.

"Just prove that you can compete with Harley. If not, then just give the job to my wife, who can easily get more than one cooperation contract with Wayne Corporation," said Gerald.

Renal was inflamed when he heard Gerald's words which sounded so hurtful, especially in front of his family, he was insulted just because of a contract. Gerald looked confident standing there, who knows where the source of his courage came from, he was still able to say these things. It was as if he had a strong connection to the Wayne Corporation and had the right to voice his opinion without fear or hesitation.

"Don't be arrogant, Gerald. Only collapse and death will bring you with your arrogant attitude," said Renal.

"Keep that sentence to yourself. Aren't you the one who promised grandma a new contract so just prove it instead of continuing to beat around the bush and blaming me. And remember, what I did this afternoon was just to defend my wife from your mother's rude attitude if "I want to be able to report his actions to the police," replied Gerald.

"What did he do?" exclaimed the mother-in-law.

"Just ask your mother-in-law's sister what she did to Harley," replied Gerald.
