The dinner finally started. Supposedly, only Claire and Rune should be sitting down and eating. This is the preference of the young Ragencliff nobleman. However, Claire didn’t let him do as he pleased.“Can you repeat what you just said Claire?”“Fine. I won’t be eating with you if my servants can’t eat alongside me.”Rune and Claire exchanged glares. Neither one of them is letting up. They both have their pride as members of nobility after all. In a situation such as that, letting the other do as he or she pleased means that this person will also be acknowledged as naturally higher than the other.Neither Claire nor Rune wants this. Both would probably prefer starving to death that evening than letting the other win.“Are we really going to fight over something like this?” Rune asked.“We wouldn’t be arguing if you just let me do as I please.”“Look here, it is customary for any nobility to eat with others of the same status that has always been the case.” Rune said. “Why would you a
Asther is sure of one thing. He unlocked the door. He remembers this vividly. He could still feel how the key he used turned and opened the door in front of him. But, right after this, there is a brilliant flash of light that consumed him. Leaving him in the situation he is currently in.Asther found himself inside a seeming subspace. There is nothing there except darkness. But even in this void, Asther could feel that the ground he is stepping on is as solid as it could get. He tried carefully walking around and, sure enough, the other areas are solid as well.Other than this he hasn’t encountered any sort of invisible wall. There is seemingly no invisible ceiling as well. Hence the whole place can be taken as a flat terrain that extended as far as the eye can see. After his little experiment of his, Asther decided that it would be best for him to try and get answers from the System. And so he opened the window interface. As soon as he did, a new notification popped out. One that for
There are a lot of things about the subspace that Asther knows about. First, he knows that time works differently inside of it. Whatever the subspace is, the time spent inside of it would be much slower compared to the real world. He isn’t sure about the length of time that has actually elapsed in the real world but, this is the least of his concerns. It’s already a good thing that a subspace works as it does. This way, he is sure that there is a chance for him to catch up to the dinner of Claire and Rune. But this is only a minor concern of his. The necromancer is more focused on the enemy in front of him at that moment. The devil masked hobgoblin who is giving him a hard time.Asther continued alternating between the new skills that he obtained. He used both skills in a combination to defend and attack. Asther used Shadow Step to get close to the monster. As soon as he did, the devil masked made a huge swing, as if expecting his appearance on that position. But this didn’t matter as
The subspace didn’t disappear right away. Asther is still there, with the lance pierced through his body. He didn’t want to move much because it would mean complicating the damage that has already been done. Hence, he left the collection of the loot dropped by the hobgoblins to his undead. While they did this, Asther has his eyes set on one thing. The soul of the devil masked hobgoblin. Among the monsters that he fought in the subspace, this is the one that showed the most promise. As such, he wants to add the monster to his ranks. It's funny how the necromancer could disregard his own wound and focus on the prize before him. But then again, this is something that any normal human might do as well. When faced with a reward that is greater than the threat of death, one would probably feel numb from the pain. That is exactly what was happening to Asther at that moment. His eyes being entirely fixed on it.“System, what are my chances of getting the devil masked hobgoblin’s soul?”[At yo
With Asther being able to regain his eyesight, he is able to bring his focus back on his mission. Specifically, Asther can place his full attention on getting the documents inside the special room of the third floor. He only ever realized that he’s already inside of it after having a good look around. He then proceeded to getting the things that he needs. Documents placed behind the table. After this, he finally cleared all of his missions.[Congratulations! You have finished Sub Quests!]The notification popped out as soon as he got his hands on the documents. Asther decided not to close the notification anymore because, he wanted things to proceed faster. That is, Asther wanted to claims the rewards for the quest as soon as he gets the item. Something that he did as the options for the new skills were laid out for him again.By finishing the emergency quest and the sub quest, Asther is given a total of two choices for a new skill. To his surprise however, the skills that showed up a
Rune thought that everything will go as he planned that evening. The young aristocrat of the Ragencliff household has never tasted neither defeat nor humiliation after all. He is a man who will take whatever means necessary in order to secure his goal. For that evening, the goal is none other than Claire. The aphrodisiac is already beginning to have an effect on his fiancé. He can see this clearly from how jittery Claire is. Rune knows that the Ildefonso woman would take safety measures against something like poison or even an attack. But, something that would force her body to be in heat? There’s no possibility that Claire has something up her sleeve for something like this. And he is right. The drug continued affecting Claire. The effects were minimal of course since Claire has only drank half a glass of wine. But the night is still young. If they continue eating, she will have to drink more. The more she does, the stronger the effects of the drug would be. Enough for him to finally
Multiple new undead rose within the battlefield. With Asther reaching level twenty, he can now raise five more undead. Meaning, he has a total of ten undead that he can command. This isn’t a normal roster either. The first five undead that he has consists of his strongest units. Two wolves. Two normal hobgoblins. The leader of the bristleback bandits in the forest. And finally, the devil masked hobgoblin.Other than these five, Asther also has a couple of undead made from the servants that died on the spot. These including Ernest and Vanessa who, looked a bit underwhelming compared to the other undead of Asther.“So you’re a necromancer.” Rune commented.“That’s right.” Asther said. The necromancer watched as Rune looked around the area. The Ragencliff didn’t seem fazed with his summons. And for some reason, Asther can tell that this isn’t a kind of confidence born from arrogance. Rather, it stems from the fact that Rune is actually a very powerful mage. This is already demonstrated w
Rune wasn’t fighting a regular peasant. In fact, Asther isn’t even comparable to any nobleman. He isn’t another chess player, nor is he a piece that could be found on the board.Asther is death itself. He is the physical embodiment of the grim reaper. He has fought countless battles. Some of these even bringing him close to death’s doors. Yet always, always…this man would win.He doesn’t quite understand it himself. How he’s still alive until his last moments on earth were he is even able to kill the assassins who came to end his life. Yet one thing is certain. That with all of Asther’s experiences in the battlefield, he has accumulated a kind of knowledge like no other. He has built up enough information so that, in the latter years of his life, the instances where he is placed in danger is almost non-existent. This is the kind of person Rune faced.Should he have known this, he might have arrived at a different outcome. One where he is able to escape with his life. But that is not t
