Chapter 0005

Logan was perplexed about what had happened today. Logan's confusion at being picked up by a luxury car had not disappeared, but he had to be even more confused by seeing his father, who was now sitting with his legs crossed. His father sat as if he was the owner of this luxury villa.

"Dad, how come you're here?" Logan asked, staring at his father's face. But hearing that question, his father laughed.

Logan's father, Willian, stood up to give Logan a rugged look. "You may be confused as to why I'm here. But that's why I asked David to come and get you. Because I feel that the time has come for you to know everything," Willian replied, making Logan even more confused. Logan almost thought that maybe David also picked up his father, but his father's answer made Logan feel even more confused.

Logan asked again, stepping closer to his father. "What is it that I don't know? Why are you all keeping me in suspense?" Logan felt even more dizzy with questions that could not be solved.

Logan continued to stare at his father, who was now moving his feet and standing toward Logan. They locked eyes briefly, and then his father placed one hand on Logan's shoulder. "You've graduated from college. I think it's time you took over the family business now."

Logan still didn't quite understand what his father was trying to say. Logan didn't even know that his father owned a business, and suddenly, his father was saying that Logan should take over the company after graduation. This made no sense at all.

"I know that you might be confused. But this is the reality if you are the sole heir to our family company." Willian patted Logan's shoulder twice, then sat back down and crossed his legs again.

Looking at his son, who was still silent, Willian said, "I know it's hard to believe, but you have to accept this fact immediately. We deliberately hid all of this from you."

Logan still couldn't believe it. He had never imagined this happening. He had felt so bad this morning, but suddenly someone came to pick him up to meet his father. And lo and behold, even now, his father was making Logan feel even more confused.

All this time, they had lived very simply. They even rented a house to live in. Life was so hard that his father rarely came home. And for all Logan knew, his father had been busy with odd jobs all this time. But suddenly, his father appeared and said something unexpected to him.

"If that's the case why didn't you ever tell me?" Logan asked very seriously, but it made his father smile again.

"Of course, it's all for your own good. We just want you to grow up and stand up as a humble person." Willian's reply left Logan unable to answer back. He shouldn't have asked about that. Then his mind drifted to Toby's treatment this morning. That man had grown so haughty and arrogant that Logan hated him passionately.

"So, what's your relationship with Mr. David?" Logan glanced briefly at the old man and then at his father's face.

"Actually, he is the butler of our family. I was forced to send him to live close to you so he could protect you." Willian's explanation made Logan think Mr. David wasn't rich from winning the lottery. And Logan immediately knew that the luxury cars that were now parked in the courtyard, of course, belonged to his family.

For a moment, Logan remembered his old neighbor, who often gave Logan snacks and even helped him cut the grass in his yard. Once Logan had offered to paya David, but the old man had refused. Until now, Logan's questions had been solved one by one.

"I was thinking that I decided to retire after your graduation. And now it's time for you to take your place to run our family business."

Willian reminded Logan about the business again. Without hesitating, his father immediately handed over a massive responsibility to Logan. Of course, Logan was shocked by his father's decision.

For Logan, his father's decision was too sudden for him. He had just graduated from college, but his father immediately gave him such great responsibility that he hesitated. But wasn't it a good opportunity? He recalled that because of Toby, all the companies had rejected him, but now he would be the sole heir of the family company.

In the middle of this serious conversation, Logan's cell phone suddenly rang. Logan reached into his pocket to look at the vibrating flat object. Apparently, there was an incoming call from his friend, so Logan immediately answered.

"Hello? Is something important that you're calling me?" Logan asked.

"Yeah, everyone's planning a graduation party. And we'd like you to come to the party tomorrow. I'll send you the location after this." The call was immediately disconnected after his friend gave Logan an explanation.

Instantly Logan's expression changed. He had just gotten an invitation to the graduation party but was hesitant to go. Logan felt that he was the only person without a job.

Seeing Logan's changed face, Willian asked, "What happened?" His father thought that Logan was in big trouble right now.

"A friend of mine just called and said that they're having a graduation party. It's just that I'm very hesitant to go." Without hesitation, Logan explained to his father.

"Hesitant? What made you hesitate?" Willian raised one eyebrow. He was puzzled by the doubt his son was currently facing.

"Of course I'm hesitant because I'm the only one without a job right now. I just don't want them to look down on me." Logan said to his father.

Of course, it made Willian laugh to hear Logan's reason for hesitating to come. He had thought Logan was in big trouble until his face turned pale.

"That's the only thing that makes you hesitate? Did you forget what I just said? Not only are you going to get a job, but you're going to run the company." Willian stopped his laughter for a moment, then looked at Logan earnestly. "You should still come to the party."

If only his father hadn't spoken up again, Logan might have forgotten what he'd been brought here for in the first place. His father had just given him responsibility, but Logan had almost forgotten it.

Logan hadn't answered yet, so Willian pulled out a card and handed it to Logan. "This is a gift for your graduation," Willian said as he gave the card to Logan.

Logan hesitantly accepted the card. He was immediately astonished to find out that it was a golden card that not everyone had. Logan never even thought he could have that card.

"You can use that card to come to the party so you don't have to hesitate anymore." Hearing Willian's words, Logan nodded. But then he thought about the contents of the card.

"How much money is on this card?" Logan questioned.

Willian laughed again at Logan's innocent question. "You'll never be able to spend all the money on the card anyway." His father's answer again made Logan feel dumbfounded.

"You don't need to doubt. If you don't believe this, I have a mission for you." Willian's challenge made Logan frown.

"A mission?" Logan repeated his father's words in confusion.

"You need to be able to spend a million dollars on your graduation party." Logan's jaw almost dropped after hearing his father's challenge.

Logan had never even had a million dollars. But now, his father asked him to spend a million dollars just for his graduation party. Logan might not have believed his father's words so quickly if the card had not been in his hand.
