Chapter 6

Sarah seeing the silence that befalled the large living room and the sharp gaze that everyone had on her, did not realize her mistake, with a deep frown on her face and her mouth pouted out, she still went ahead to speak.

“There is no way that he is going to make use of that room. We all know how much that room means to Kelvin and his puppet and you are just going to take it away from him, there is no way that I am going to allow that to happen, there are more rooms in this estate, so you should go ahead and find another room for him, because he is not having that!”

She wrapped both her hands together as she insisted, her words were firm and for her, she did not care about the disdainful glare that lingered around her.

“Will you shut up your mouth!” Theo’s deep voice roared, no doubt that he was furious at the words that his daughter had just spoken. “Don't you have respect for the Elders of this family, how can you speak so carelessly in front of everyone, your brother Adrian just came back after eighteen years, is this the best way that you should welcome him?”

“The fact that I left everything that I needed to do and be here should be enough for him. All I am saying g is that some respect should be shown to Kelvin, we all know how special that room is to him and yet it is so easy for you all to want to take it away from him when you can just find other rooms that he can stay”

“And I am not going to tell you to be mindful with your words again. Do you realize who he is in this family and you dare ask him not to make use of the room that has been made for him all because of some puppet, don't you realize how disrespectful that is!”

Theo barked, no doubt that her words caused him a deep sense of annoyance. Theo is very close to his older brother Daniel and knows how much Daniel had looked up to meeting his son on the special day and the fact that his daughter was trying to ruin it all was a huge disturbance to him.

And just then, Kelvin's voice came through, he knew that he had to intervene, seeing the furious look on Uncle Theo’s face.

“Uncle Theo, I feel like this is my fault and I deeply apologize. Sarah, I understand that you mean well to me but you shouldn't raise your voice at your father or speak down on your brother” his voice was calm and so was his expression, but even while he spoke, Adrian felt a sense of unease around him as he turned to Adrian.

“Welcome back brother, I sincerely apologize for the way Sarah spoke to you, seeing your expression right now, I can tell that you are angry at her but you shouldn't because she is only a child and wants what is best for the family”

Kelvin carefully explained in the most polite tone, and yet Adrian felt like there was a hint of sarcasm in his voice, else why would he go ahead to side with Sarah even when he claims that he is trying to apologize?

“And how can you tell that I am angry at Sarah, I haven't said a word yet, and yet you are so quick to judge that I harbor ill thoughts against her?” Adrian asked because he had only met Kelvin once and yet he felt like Kelvin was trying to create a rift between him and his cousin's sister.

“Oh! I guess that you mistook my intentions again, I mean no harm, I just hope that you can find a way to look past her words, you don't have to be offended by the words that she just spoke. No Sarah, go ahead and apologize to your brother”

Kelvin advised but Sarah let her jaws tighten. “Why should I go ahead and apologize when I am certain that I haven't done anything wrong, there is no way that you regard this smelly country pumpkin as my brother and I am never going to apologize to someone as low as he is neither am I going to regard him as my brother”

she let the words escape her lips so freely and yet she did not understand the weight of the words that she spoke, as soon as she was done speaking, it was followed by a loud shattering of glass on the floor that caused everyone to immediately startle, it was Adrian’s father daniel who had just heavily smashed glass and even as his gaze was fixed on Sarah, she was immediately frightened.

“Sarah! I see that you have been heavily pampered in this house and that you have no respect or regard for anyone in this house, how can you speak about your brother in such a manner, do you realize that he is the heir to this family and have absolutely every right to everything which includes the entire rooms in this estate?”

“But….”

“Shut up your mouth! You do not dare open your mouth and speak while I am still speaking!” he roared, his voice carrying some rage then. Freya was so satisfied with the way her father had handled the situation that she turned to Kelvin with a smile on her face.

“Kelvin, why do you stand there and act like you have ever been maltreated by this family or treated differently? Tell me, have you ever been maltreated by anyone in this family?”

Freya fired the question at him, kelvin opened his mouth to speak but with Freya’s deep gaze lingering on him, he could not form a sentence as all that he could do was shake his head.

“Good, so no one should dare treat my brother like he does not matter or is part of this family” Freya immediately made her words known to the entire family, and just then Lyra who is the oldest daughter of Uncle Sean and slightly older than Adrian walks up to him and with a friendly smile on her face, she embraced Adrian’s shoulder before she whispered to him.

“You are the only son of the elder of this family, not just that, you are the true heir to the cooperation and every other thing that this family has and as such, you should not be asked to make use of a room that was converted from a puppies room, I blame Aunt Beth who had belittled you in the first place for setting up such a room for you”

Lyra, expressed as Aunt Beth seemed to have heard her name mentioned, immediately stood before Adrian and began to apologize. “I sincerely apologize, I guess that I did not think straight before setting out the rooms. I know that you must feel insulted, but I deeply apologize, I will go ahead and rearrange the room right away, and this time, I can assure you that I am going to prepare a more suitable room for the heir of corp”

She lowered her head while she apologized and dashed out of there. Adrian who was feeling aggravated towards the entire situation and the way that Kelvin had tried to make him look bad for trying to take away his room felt relieved that his sister had his back.

Finally, the tension around had faded away, the elders of the family were now having a chat so Freya offered to Adrian that they both go outside to get some air.
