Emma falls to her deep thoughts trying to digest Lucas's words. Indeed, Victor looked so solemn, gloomy and seemed uninterested as that woman took him into the limousine. However, she can’t believe that Victor is a gigolo.
She might think so lowly of Victor, but she has never thought of him that low. But Lucas can’t hold his chuckles.
“Think about it again, is there any other plausible possibility. Judging from her attitude, it is clear that she is a high class girl who likes to put people down. Girls like this are mostly unmarried. They prefer to see men as toys to satisfy their lust. Because they are more concerned with careers and money.”
Emma is stunned to hear such an explanation. The problem is, Lucas's words are actually very accurate in describing the figure of Lucas himself, only in the opposite position.
Now Emma is starting to worry that Lucas might also see herself like that too, seeing women as mere a toy to fulfill his desires.
And so, the car keeps going while Emma is still in her anxiety.
“One thing for sure, you are already free from that loser. Now it’s about how we find the best lawyer for you. I can help you, but I'm asking for a share of the profit you’d gain from this,” says Lucas.
“A share of the profits? What profits are you talking about? I only demand what is mine,” says Emma by putting on an ignorant face.
“Come on! Don't fool around with me. I’m not that stupid,” he turns to Emma with his smug smile.
When Emma gets home, only then does she remember that the house is currently locked. One key she was holding was left inside. While another key was brought by Victor who was the last person to lock the door.
“What?” Lucas asks as he sees Emma looking so reluctant to get out of the car.
“I don't have the key to the house right now,” she replies.
Lucas sighs and puts on a tired and uninspired face. And so, the car drives again leaving that house.
Meanwhile, Victor gets a sermon from Viona during the journey to the office. It’s about him using his money recklessly, spending almost 2 Million dollars in just one day.
“I can understand for you being so happy that your dad lifted the ban on using your money in that bank account. But I can’t believe you spent that much in a couple of hours,” she grumbles while shaking her head.
Victor just turns silent. In fact, he hasn’t said a word since he entered that limousine.
“Where did you spend that much money? I know you’ve been living a frugal life for years. But I still can’t imagine you spent that many in half a day. Don't tell me you spent it all for that woman?”
Victor is still silent. But just now, he glanced a bit at Viona before hiding his guilty face. And Viona didn’t miss it.
“I knew it. I know for sure it was your wedding anniversary yesterday.”
Victor turns his face to Viona with a disbelief look, how could she remember that it was his wedding anniversary. But then, he realizes that Viona is his father’s trusted secretary for years.
“You must have spent that money for her. To think that she asked for divorce makes me sick. I’ve told you, that witch is not good for you,” Viona continues in her sermons.
“How you're so sure she was the one asking for divorce?” asks Victor, trying to put on a smug smile as if he was the one who dumped Emma.
“There’s no way you were the one asking that to her. You’ve been like a slave of love for that witch girl,” replies Viona with the same smug smile.
Victor’s smug smile immediately dispersed away. Now he is back to his gloomy face. Viona can only shake her head, thinking that Victor is still not able to move on from Emma.
“Just saying, your dad has also learned about this?”
“About what? About my marriage?” asks Victor.
“No one cares about your marriage with that witch? Your dad knows that you spent your money recklessly. Actually, he was here until yesterday. He was so impatient to meet you. However, as soon as he knew you spent your money that way, he immediately left the town,” Viona explains with a serious tone.
Victor looks so dazed, thinking that he has let his father down. Now he even feels that his decision to quit from that pizza shop in such manners was the wrong decision. It seems like he has to return to life with a low-class job again, to prove his worth to his father once more.
But then, he remembers that the limousine is currently taking him to that company. And Viona said that all the managers are waiting for him currently.
He turns back to Viona, and Viona only gives him a sigh.
“You are lucky, he didn’t cancel his decision to appoint you as the President of Counterbrand, the branch company your dad has prepared for you in these 5 years. But the bad news is, your father has put the ban on that bank account again.”
“Eeeeh? That bank account?” Victor responds in a shock.
“You can only use the money you collect from what you gain as you play your role as the President of Counterbrand. And one more thing, I’m not here to babysit you anymore.”
Before he reaches the Counterbrand Office, he realizes that he is still in a messy state. There’s no way he is going to show up by getting out of the limousine in that state along with Viona.
He is a bit worried that people would think of bad things about him and Viona, if they find out he gets out of that limousine while he is still so messy like that.
“Please, drop me off here. I’ll take a walk.”
“Why?” asks Viona.
He doesn’t give her explanation. But he insists on telling the driver to stop the car. And so, Viona tells the driver to follow Victor’s order, and tells him that Victor is the one who is going to be the President of Counterbrand.
“We pick you with a limousine for a reason, and you choose to take a walk,” Viona whines.
Victor tries to ignores her. But just after he gets out, he holds the door so he can talk to her for a moment. “If possible, just use a normal car later. Going around with this would only make me the center of people's attention. Honestly, I don’t feel comfortable at all.” “Why? Does working too long as a pizza delivery man make you uncomfortable with all of this?” asks Viona with a silly smile. “No! But! A Limousine? Why did you pick me up in the limousine anyway?” “Why not? I knew you were having a divorce matter with that witch girl. I decided to use this limousine only to show off to her. Becasue I knew she dumped you for looking so lowly on you.” “Whatever!” Victor waves his hand as he takes his face away. “I just don’t want to go to work by using this limos anymore.” “You don’t need to worry. We’ve prepared another car for you at the office.” Victor puts on his tired face, thinking that it would just another luxurious car. And then, Viona also intends to get out of the ca
Victor is not so offended by Oliver's last words, because they were true. Even so, he is still a little offended when he was teased by Oliver that way. Especially with the way he rubbed his wet hand on his shoulder. Only after he finishes playing with that hand dryer machine, he decides to go to the meeting. He calls Viona again asking for a direction. [Just take an elevator and go to the top floor] “The top floor?” [Yeah, the 23rd floor. I’ll be waiting for you upstairs] Victor starts looking for an elevator. He isn’t really familiar with the condition of that office because it is his first time to be there. Until then, a security shows the way for him. But he has to wait for a while. Given that the building has 23 floors, it might take him a long time to wait there. There are also two female employees who appear and wait there with him. And then… “Ting!” One elevator opens and there’s no one inside it. Victor enters the elevator with the two female employees. Just before t
After waiting for a moment, Viona asks the others if there are still those who want to leave the meeting room. He even gives a warning to those who decide to stay. “Mr. Charles wouldn't mind if anyone opted out now. But whoever later chooses to stay, after that they will not be allowed to leave this ship.” One of them raises his hand like he wants to ask something. “At least, tell us first the reason behind all this. Why did Charles choose this obscure person to lead this company?” “I have no obligation to answer that question. If you mind, you can leave. We still have a lot of people who can replace all the positions here,” says Viona. That one who expressed that question immediately takes his leave. And after that, another two also choose to leave the room as well. Until finally, there are only 7 people in the room besides Viona and Victor left. “Anyone? After this, there is no option for you to leave anymore,” says Viona. The seven people don’t give any answers. Two of them a
Victor leaves the meeting. None of those executives voice their objections either. Except for Viona, who immediately rushes after Victor to the next room. “Hey, Victor! Where are you going?” Victor answers her as he keeps walking out of the room and heads to the elevator. “Sorry, I have a problem that I need to solve immediately. If I don’t clear this issue, that Mr. Benigno will be mad at me. Even though he's just a pizza shop owner, some say he has a connection with some mafia.” But then Victor pauses for a moment right after he touches a button on the elevator, realizing that he doesn’t have enough money to pay his debt to Mr. Benigno. He has two bank accounts. The one he has used since his college day, which is money he collects by himself. While the other bank account is the money he got solely from his father, William Charles, one of the richest businessmen in the country. He has saved a stellar amount of money since he rarely used it in the past. However, his father had pu
Oftentimes, people will realize the existence value of something, only after they lose it. Just like Mr. Benigno, who is now beginning to feel the loss of a reliable employee like Victor. Regardless of how often he scolded Victor, the truth is that Victor had worked for him for five years should mean something to him. Actually, he has found a replacement for Victor. But it makes him realize it even more, how difficult it is to find an employee as good as Victor. After all, where else could he find a graduate from a renown university, who would want to work for him as a pizza delivery man. “Told you! You are going to miss him. A man like him is such a rare nowadays,” says a waiter teasing Mr. Benigno. “Shut up! Why don't you just go out there and teach that new kid a thing or two,” Mr. Benigno shouts back as he walks away. He returns to his office, grabs the phone, and tries to call Victor again. But Victor doesn’t answer his call. It makes that fat Italian man with a thick mustac
Meanwhile, Emma is currently in a dilemma. Even though she had divorced from Victor, she isn’t even Lucas' legal wife yet. And somehow, Lucas seems so reluctant to bring her to live with him at his house along with his family. And he has no intention to find a place for Emma to stay for the time being. Instead, Lucas prefers to seek help, hiring a locksmith to open the door for Emma, so she can get back into the house where she lived with Victor. “You sure this is your house?” the locksmith asks. “Why don’t you just ask that old lady neighbor?” says Emma. The locksmith glances a bit to the house next door, and indeed there is an old lady, Mrs. Greta, who is busy watering her little garden. Seeing that the old lady doesn’t really concern about them, the locksmith is quite sure that the clients he is serving currently are not thieves. After all, he is just lazy to bother to make sure of it. And so, he just unlocks the house for them. After being able to enter the house, Emma shows
She picks and examines them, both the ring and the box. She might not be an expert to judge a jewelry item. But she starts to doubt that it is a fake ring. Only after she finds the name “Johnson’s Pleasantry” under the box, she is affirmed that the ring can’t be a fake item. Johnson’s Pleasantry is a renowned jewelry shop in the town where Victor visited before to buy that item. The shop is very popular amongst couples who want to get married. It is known for their validity and good reputation in selling jewelry that is specifically for weddings. “There’s no way Johnson’s Pleasantry would sell a fake ring to people who are going to get married,” she mutters with widened eyes. Emma puts her shoes back on, and rushes out of the house with the ring. She locks the door and pulls out her cell phone to call Lucas back. She thinks it would be better to go with Lucas than to book a taxi with her own money. Or maybe to help her to sell the ring with the best price she could get. But then
She indeed expected that a jewel from Johnson’s Pleasantry would be expensive. But she never expected it to be that expensive. “A Million?” she mumbles by holding her head with one hand, while the other hand is trying to keep her balance by finding something to hold. “So? Did it enough to surprise you, Mam? I’m also happy for you to have such a good husband like him,” says the owner. “No! This is too much. I expected it would be expensive. But 1 Million dollars is too much.” It attracts the attention of the few customers who happen to be there. But Emma doesn’t pay that much attention. She still can’t imagine how Victor managed to collect that much money to buy that ring. That’s when she remembers about Victor having two bank accounts. All this time, Victor only used one of his bank accounts. But Emma never paid much attention about the other one, since she believed it wouldn’t be much different. After all, what would she expect from a husband who had only been a pizza delivery m
