Richard's threat

In a state full of anxiety, Gordon tries to suppress his panic when the police keep guarding him. With great humility, he begged the policeman on duty, "Excuse me, can I call my mother? I need to tell her about this situation."

One of the cops nodded in agreement. "Sure, you can do it, but under our supervision."

Gordon quickly retrieved his cell phone, hands shaking as he dialed his mother's number. After finding it, he pressed the call button in dismay. His voice was hoarse when Rita Hawthorne finally picked up the call on the other side.

"Mom, it's me," said Gordon.

"Gordon? What happened? Why are you calling from the police number?" Rita asked frantically.

Gordon tried to calm himself for a moment before speaking. "Mom, I... I was caught by the police. Mom, didn't you promise to help me?"

Rita was silent for a moment, "Son, I haven't received any help yet. I will seek help soon. Please be patient for a while. I will come and bring a lawyer to get you out of there."
