The Iconic Man

Chapter 2

John was worried about the 10 million dollars `` Who could have sent this money and why would the person send the money? He called the number that had called him but the number was not going through this makes him to be more worried.

 After some time of thinking, he got hungry and went to the kitchen to check if his wife had cooked but unfortunately she didn't prepare anything, so he had to prepare something to eat. After he finished eating he went to the bathroom to take his shower.

 Immediately when he entered the room he saw jewels and clothes on the bed. He was surprised that his wife could get the money to buy all these expensive things.

He approaches his wife saying "Where did you get the money to buy all those jewelry and clothes?. Amanda burst into laughter, " It was a man who knows the value of a woman and knows how to take good care of a woman that bought it for me" Amanda replied. 

John asked "Was it the man that I saw you both earlier today that got you all this?.

Amanda responded "Yes he his the one, are you satisfied"

John went into the bathroom room and took a shower and he went straight to bed, because he had had enough for the day. 

He slept off, as he shifted the jewelry and the clothes to the other side of the bed. 

Amanda entered the bedroom and saw her things on the other side of the bed. She was very furious and she woke her husband up by tapping him hard. " Why did you shift my things, you moron?" Amanda asked angrily. 

John didn't not give a response and he went back to sleep. Amanda responded "You this man you could not afford to buy this thing for me but yet you want to destroy it, that is why you could not afford to buy such an expensive thing. 

It is another morning on another day of the week, It is already past 6. 0'clock, John was still sleeping. A few minutes later he woke up from his sleep. 

He looked at his side to check on his wife but she was not there so he went to check  the kitchen and all the environment but she was nowhere to be found.

 John looked around and spoke with disappointment "OMG where could this woman go so early in the morning without any notice".

 He then remembered the call he had received yesterday night, immediately he picked his phone and to check if it was truly real, to his greatest surprise he saw the credit of 10 million dollars he shouted " This is not a dream but a reality". 

John was sitting in his sitting room thinking about what  could have been the reason for the person to send him such a huge amount of money. 

A few minutes later his phone rang. It was the same person that sent the money and he quickly picked up the phone.

 

"Please who are you? Why did you send me the money?. John asked curiously. 

The man answered " Am the man who you helped to return a briefcase containing a huge amount of dollars that i left at your restaurant a few months ago". 

John replied "ohh I remember  thank you sir for remembering me, I am very grateful, how is family". 

The man replied "I lost my wife two months ago in a plane crash. My only daughter has also left the house after the incident. Every means to get to her went abortive". 

John replied "Sorry for the loss of your wife and for your daughter she will come home by herself" 

The man replied "Come over to my house I  want to discuss something with you privately I will be happy if you can come today"

John said " Okay I will come over after work today, hope it is not too late sir"

It's okay , I Will be expecting you, the man replied.

John left the house for work on his way; he was curious what the man wanted to discuss with him privately. 

He got to the restaurant and checked the list of delivery for the day he saw it was not that much so he quickly got to work.

This evening he told his friend Sonia that he is off for today and that he needs to be somewhere so he left in a hurry. 

He called the man to ask if it is still the same address he is using. 

The man replied "Yes, are you on your way"

John replied " Okay, almost close to your house".

After a few minutes John arrived at the man's house and rang the doorbell immediately a maid came by to open the door and asked him to tell him that the boss is waiting for him in the living room and she leads the way.

 

Wow this house looks like paradise everything here is expensive this man his totally rich John said in his mind

John was getting more curious about the maid's behavior by not asking him who he was looking for, just letting him like that and telling him "The boss is waiting for you in the living room" . Maybe the man has already informed his worker. He followed the maid to the living room and he saw the man sitting on a wheelchair.

John was shocked seeing the man on a wheelchair he greeted the man and said "What happened to you sir why are you on a wheelchair".

The man replied with a slight smile on his face, "Sit down, don't bother about my situation"

John took a deep breath and sat down.

"The last time you came to return the briefcase you said you were a graduate that you graduated as one of the best students in Business management so I quickly recall and with your loyalty that is why I want you to work in the company and I hope you won't disappoint me" Said the man.

John replied with amazement "Thank you very much sir for giving me this great opportunity, I promise not to let you down sir". 

The man replied " First thing on Monday morning, come meet me at my office".

The man then gave him the company business card that contains the address of the company.

John was very happy, he asked "What time should I be present".

The man chuckled, "That depends on how serious you are" 

John knew this was a kind of test to see if he is punctual and responsible, still with that fact, he was very happy.

He tried calling his wife to share the good news with her, but her line was not getting through, so he would have to tell her when return back home. 

John went to the pizza restaurant to drop his resignation letter and told Sonia about the good news, they both rejoiced together and wished themselves good luck.And they both departed saying goodbye to each other.
