The Iconic Man

Chapter 1

"Wake up, you lazy bone!" A lady dressed in fancy clothes barged into a large bedroom, yelling.

John, who was still sleeping, suddenly heard his wife yelling, and he quickly got up.

Ever since he married Amanda, he had not ever an utter peace since day one, not even from her family.

John was a poor orphan,who struggled in the streets and managed to gain scholarship into one of the best Universities in their country. 

When he and Amanda first met, they had fallen in love with each other, since then everything had been going smoothly until he finally married Amanda.

"It's only Six in the morning, can't I get some rest, I came back from work late last night" John said, feeling a bit annoyed but there is nothing he could do.

He stood up and held to the bathroom to brush and and have his bath, after he held straight to the dinning table to have his breakfast unfortunately she did not prepare anything for him to eat.

 "What is wrong with you, you didn't prepare anything for me to eat" John was disappointed at his wife behavior.

Amanda replied "You still have the guts to ask me to cook for you when you don't even provide anything for the family. You should be lucky I even married you"

John couldn't say anything, he take a deep breath and left off to his working place where he works as a pizza delivery man. 

 

"Good morning how was your night" a lady dressed in a white top and black skirt having a long hair packed backside was greeting John as he entered the restaurant.

"Morning Sonia my night was fun and yours you look much more beautiful this morning" John replied.

Blushing Sonia replied "Thanks I will take that as a compliment my night was good".

Sonia was is the accountant of the restaurant who is friendly and helpful to John. She noticed that John was having unhappy expression on his face and she approached him saying "what's wrong with you? did you have a fight with someone?".

"Am good just that I didn't have enough time to sleep" John replied.

Sonia didn't not believe what he was saying she then said "Have know you for some while now i can tell when you are lying and when you are saying the truth so tell me what exactly the thing is".

John replied with sadness all over his face "My wife has been giving me  hard times ever since we got married. This morning at six o'clock she yelled at me to stand up, although I was very weak because yesterday 's delivery was very much and stressful; she didn't listen to my explanation. I stood up and get ready for work, I went to the dining room but no food was prepared". 

Sonia felt pity for John and said "Sorry, try to endure it and speak with her whenever she's cool, as time goes on I am sure she will change".

"Have always been sitting her down trying to talk to her but she is becoming worsening the more"John said sadly.

"Keep on trying am sure she will will change" Sonia said.

Some minutes later John started to deliver pizzas to the people who ordered for it.  It was around noon, a Global intent company called and ordered for pizza. 

John was set to deliver the pizza he set forth and went to deliver the Pizza, John arrived at the company gate and was allowed to come in by the security man.

The company was built using the expensive glasses the Global intent company was one of the biggest company in New York. John went in through the elevator to deliver the ordered pizza.

 John was in the elevator coming down from where he had just delivered the Pizza, through the glasses he was able to see the out side of the company he saw one of his university old friends Becky they both graduated as the best students of their department 

John tried all he could to meet her but she was already in the car before he could get down from the elevator the car had left. 

He asked the security guard " The lady who drove out just now, how is she to this company?"

 The security guard replied: "That is the new CEO the daughter of the late CEO of this company". 

John was stunned and at the same time curious he left the company and went back to the pizzeria, where he works he on the bike and left.

On his way back he saw his wife at a roadside restaurant, a few blocks away from the place he works.

Amanda was with an unknown man, both of them were smiling at each other and were enjoying their launch, John stopped by and entered the restaurant and approached them. 

"Amanda!" John was furious

"Who is the pig yelling?" the man sitting in front of Amanda spoke.

John looked at who spoke, it was a man dressed in a black suit using an expensive wrist watch and the latest phone. 

John shooks off his head in pity and replied "I am her husband so stay away from her because she's mine".

Amanda stood up and yelled at John "Who is your wife ooh I get it now did you think you can come and ruin my life with yours you this lowlife poor looser" she said and she left with the man. John was speechless and dumbfounded.

  

Amanda left with the man in his expensive car, John was in shock because of his wife's reaction he could not believe that it happened. After some minutes he set forth to return back to the pizza restaurant

 On his way back John's bike stopped in the middle of the road. He tried to check to see what was wrong with the bike but he was unable to fix the problem. 

So he called the mechanic to come and check what was wrong with the bike. Before the mechanic could get there, heavy rainfall started so he pushed the bike to a safe place where he could watch over it.

John was very depressed and sad, he recalled everything that has happened to him, he burst out in tears. 

After the rain stopped the mechanic came by and fixed the faulty part of the bike, John returned back to the restaurant and was off for the day.

Amanda was already at home, sitting at the front of the mirror checking out the jewelries and clothes that the man had bought for her. She was so excited and was putting it on. Few minutes later John rang the doorbell. 

Amanda  went to open the door, John entered very tired and unhappy. He sat down and asked his wife " Who was that man you were with earlier today at the restaurant? What caused your behavior with you denying me as your husband?. 

 Amanda yelled at him " Are you truly an husband, to provide food for the house Is difficult, to take me out for shopping. If I ask for money you will always give excuses that you don't have money with you.

John replied " Starting from day one we started our relationship you never showed any interest in fancy things because you know how I was, when I have the money I do try to make you happy."

Why is it now after our marriage you changed totally from the Amanda I know before, if i have ever wronged you in any form please tell me so that I could ask for your forgiveness" He added

Amanda hissed and said to him " Your mates are there in big companies, industries riding big cars living in a mansion taking their wife out here, you are working as a pizza delivery boy, living in a rented apartment."

Amidst their conversation, her phone rang, it was the man who took her out today, she picked and left her husband in the sitting room.

John decided to call Amanda parents the Father number was not going through John tried the mother number it rangs twice before she picked up the third time.

John said "Good evening our lovely mother, how his your husband and the family at large?".

The mother replied "All fine, what did you want to say because I didn't have time to waste".

John answered "Actually the thing is that Amanda has started a change of attitude from how will first started our relationship, one happened recently today in which I saw Amanda with another man in a restaurant I approached them the man said "Who is the pig yelling" at the same time Amanda was denying me as her husband".

The mother replied "What did you want me to do or you want me to let her die in poverty or did you want me to beat my daughter for you and about the man I know him very well and he his a responsible husband I don't even know where he was when Amanda wanted to get married to a begger like you".

"And I told her not to marry you then, that nothing good could ever come out of you but she didn't listen now she has understand what I was saying  and she have quickly dropped the party of poverty, let this be the last time you will call me for something like this you this good for nothing who called himself an husband". 

John was still trying to get exactly what's going on, his phone rang. An unknown number, but he decided to pick anyway.

"Hello, Is this Mr. John, the delivery guy?" The person on the phone asked.

"Yes?" John replied the other person on the phone.

"We have sent you a sum of 10 million dollars" 

"What!!!"
