Chapter 5: The Betrothal

Freddy glanced and couldn't believe what he was seeing. He had received a black card from Mr. Delbrose.

“A black card! This isn't just any card, I mean it can get me access to whatever I need at a particular time. It can also grant me the access to where the top cream de la creme of the society hangs out.” Freddy thought to himself after seeing the card.

He knew he had to go thank Mr. Delbrose, which he did immediately before leaving the mansion to head to his grandfather’s house.

Freddy set out to access the money the two girls had paid him for his services as he scouted for the nearest bank.

Getting there the security man stopped him at the entrance, accessing Freddy's appearance.

The bank being one of the three most influential banks in the city had its type of selected guest.

“Young man, how can I help you?” He asked Freddy who didn't notice the man's disgust.

“Oh good day, my name is Freddy…” while Freddy was still talking the man interrupted him and said

“Look boy, did your boss send you to get money for him? We just don't let anyone come here, do you understand?” The man laid emphasis on anyone before allowing him to proceed.

Freddy remained silent. The security man didn't even help him open the gate. Freddy entered the bank reception on his own.

As soon as Freddy got to the reception he looked around confused about who to talk to until he saw the receptionist, he approached her to make an inquiry but before he could even talk she told him to move back and sit down.

Freddy, looking confused, did as she said. Another customer who looked really wealthy walked in and she immediately got up and offered him a glass of water. She asked him if there was anything he needed.

Freddy then tries to get her attention but she ignores him and keeps trying to please the other man. Freddy, growing impatient, stands up and wants to leave.

He opens his envelope and brings out the card. As soon as he did this, the manager of the bank was escorting a customer. The card caught her eye.

“Excuse me, young man. Are you about to leave?” She asked, feeling very interested in him after seeing the card.

“Yes madam, he must have been here to get money for his boss.” The receptionist interrupted.

“Stop Betty. I wasn't asking you. Please follow me to my office young man.” Freddy turned to follow the manager, he he then faced Betty

“I don't know why you'd assume I came here for a boss. I came here to check my card but your rude attitude has put me off.” Freddy said, a bit pissed.

The manager noticing this begged quickly and apologized on Betty's behalf, for fear that she might miss a potential customer.

She then attended to him and helped him check how much was in the account. The manager had a surprising expression on her face as she stared at Freddy shockingly.

“It's $50 million sir.” She replied.

“50… 50 million? Freddy muttered with a shocking expression as he collected the card back. The lady then asked him to register with the bank and he agreed since it was a good bank.

The bank manager, wanting to maintain a steady customer relationship with him, asked Freddy to fill out a bank registration form.

The form included everything about his work, steady income and more credentials.

“This is for safety reasons Mr Freddy.” The bank manager said.

“eah I figured.” Freddy replied.

“Really you are like a diamond in the rough, because no one might be able to tell that you are a Doctor and not just any kind of surgeon.” She was amazed by Freddy's status.

“I want to invest some of this into a business. Can you help me with that?” Freddy asked.

“Of course that's why we are here. By the way I am Mago, Mr Freddy, your new account manager.” The bank manager said with a smile.

Freddy left the bank and called his grandfather to inform him of everything that happened.

With a feeling words can't describe enough, Freddy got back to his grandfather’s house. He looked round the house and knew there was a lot to be done.

He then took out $5,000 and put it in an envelope. “Here take this Ted. Go get some things needed for the house and keep the change.”

Ted took the envelope wondering how much was inside. As he opened it he exclaimed in excitement.

He knew the work his brother did for those two girls must have really paid off. He then hurried out to go get supplies.

Freddy went to see his grandpa who looked a bit better than before. He started checking him and examining his vitals.

Mr. Louis on the other hand stared at Freddy like he wanted to say something but didn't know how to.

After a while Freddy noticed his looks. “What is it you want to say, just say it.” Freddy said with a plain face.

“Actually Freddy, there's something important I want to tell you. You have to go back to the city now that you've learnt how to use your ability.” He said faintly.

“No grandpa. I already quit my work. I'm gonna start a private practice just like you used to do. I am also going to treat you until you get better.” Freddy replied.

“Freddy, do you remember my childhood best friend George Hardcastle?” He asked.

Freddy was shocked at why his grandpa would mention him now.

“Yeah, what about him?” He asked.

“He's very sick and needs urgent treatment, he could die.” Mr. Louis replied.

“I really feel sorry for him but grandpa, don't forget you are also sick, you need urgent treatment too.

I am still trying to find a way to heal you but you want me to go to the city to heal your friend?” Freddy asked his grandfather suddenly.

“It's not that Freddy. It's important you go there right now. Things are not really ok in his house ever since he entered into a coma.” He replied

“I will be there once I am done.” Freddy replied stubbornly.

“No, you have to go now. you are betrothed to George's first granddaughter and she needs you right now.” Mr Louis shouted suddenly.

Freddy froze in shock by the statement his grandfather just made. “How?” He asked silently.
