Chapter 8

"What reckless waste!" exclaimed the old man, his excitement evident as he carefully picked up the crushed pills one by one. His actions perplexed the onlookers, who wondered why the elderly man was acting so strangely.

Harold, noticing the old man's actions, asked Mr. Kane if this was what he was looking for. However, Mr. Kane was too preoccupied to respond to Harold, instead glaring at the old man in disbelief.

"Where did you find this?" the old man inquired, looking up at them.

Harold dismissed the elderly man's question and said that a fool had sent the pills. The Cadenn family members agreed, considering the pills worthless.

The old man shook his head in disappointment. "If you consider this garbage, then what isn't? This invigorating pill I'm taking is also rubbish, right?" He inquired, highlighting the irony in their disregard for the pills.

Mr. Kane's pill, a rare and valuable item, once again stunned the crowd. Kane Medicine had previously auctioned a comparable pill for $40,000. However, the old man present claimed that Gilbert's pill was far more valuable than the one auctioned. This revelation implied that the pill could be worth more than $100,000.

The Cadenn family members and other onlookers were shocked when Dylan unintentionally stepped on the pill, ruining it. Dylan quickly defended himself, stating that Mr. Cameron, a distinguished guest at Kane Medicine, had extensive experience in traditional medicine after studying it for two decades. Could he be talking nonsense?

"Mr. Kane questioned me before the old man spoke.

Dylan was momentarily stunned, but he remained skeptical.

"This is absurd. My family is also in the car business," he insisted.

"Can I see this pill's medicinal materials and efficacy?"

"Hayes Cameron asked Dylan to return, leaving him speechless once more."

Who can tell me who ruined such a valuable remedy?" Hayes scanned the crowd, his anger evident in his eyes. The room fell silent, and Dylan blushed, unable to speak. After a moment, Hayes shook his head. "

I thought the Cadenn family was noble, but it seems I was mistaken. I came to Texas City to pay a visit, only to find a group of people who don't understand the true value of their assets.

"You really disappointed me," Hayes said as he waved his hand slightly and walked out, leaving the broken pills in his hands. Mr. Kane pondered for a moment before asking, "You mentioned that the pill was broken. Is he from your family?"

"Yes, it's him," replied Hayes.

Old Mrs. Cadenn gazed into the distance, nodding in response.

"Okay, then I must leave now. I will visit him another day."

Mr. Kane turned and departed. The box fell silent after his exit, leaving everyone to wonder where the fool had obtained such valuable items.

Hayes Cameron, a distinguished guest at Kane Medicine, also considered the pill to be a treasure. The noble families of Texas City sensed the tense atmosphere and left one by one.

Eventually, only the Cadenn family and Dylan Killian remained in the box. Well, Mr. Cameron must be mistaken. Despite not harming people, the pill may not work in my experience." Dylan coughed lightly and then proceeded to explain. However, the members of the Cadenn family had their own thoughts. Old Mrs. Cadenn frowned for a moment, then gestured dismissively, saying, "Let's move on."

Dylan, feeling uneasy, asked about his engagement with Azalea. "I'll need to hear Azalea's thoughts first," replied old Mrs. Cadenn, signaling to wait.

Dylan sensed something unusual about the situation and decided to wait until it was clearer. "Alright," Dylan thought to himself, maintaining his composure. The Cadenn family held onto their dignity, but Dylan was determined to win Azalea's heart.

Azalea pushed Gilbert's wheelchair along the river's edge, next to the lake. Gilbert, no one would blame you if you didn't send anything.

But why did you send things like that?"

Azalea slowly stopped and looked at Gilbert, who was staring at the lake with a serious expression. In her eyes, there was a hint of disappointment."

The pill I sent was supposed to be something wonderful, but it turned out to be a disappointment," Gilbert said. Azalea shook her head slightly, feeling a sense of resignation. Gilbert had been suffering from dementia and confined to a wheelchair for two years.

What benefits could he possibly provide? As Harold had pointed out, if Gilbert had a miraculous cure, why hadn't he used it to heal his own disability first?"

My family was already unhappy with you, and now they will be even more dissatisfied," Azalea thought to herself.

"I'm sorry, but you can no longer stay with the Cadenn family," Gilbert said softly, his eyes filled with tears. Azalea turned to look at him, seeing the sadness buried deep in his eyes. Gilbert's heart ached at the situation.

He hadn't done anything wrong, yet Azalea was suffering consequences because of him. The humiliating incident at her grandmother's birthday party, where he threw them both out in front of everyone, was particularly painful. Despite this, Gilbert declared, "I don't care what the Cadenn family thinks of me.

"I only stayed there because of you." He reached out his hand toward Azalea, a gesture of support and solidarity.
