THE GRAHAM MANSION
David Graham honked at the gate of the mansion as he listened to “All I Do Is Win” by DJ Khaled.
The gate was opened and he drove into the compound and parked in front of the house, opened the door of his car, and increased the volume of the song.
He was joined shortly by Claire and Eric Graham who watched him dance heartily. He turned down the volume when he noticed them standing by the door and filled with so much joy he screamed, “It's done! I've finalized the deal today and I'm so certain that I've won the spot. The announcement will happen in a few days but it's done!"
Eric and Claire hugged him warmly and looked at him with so much pride and happiness as they have always wanted to own a spot in the heart of the city and the most thriving plaza in Beryl City, ‘the Emerald Estate’. His win meant a lot for them.
“I'm proud of you my boy, you've made the family name soar higher than ever,” Eric said as he held David's shoulder with his eyes fixed on him.
They walked into the living room and there was no power in the house. David reached for the light switch and put it on.
“Surprise!” Everyone chorused with Melissa holding a cake in her hand and saying “You did it!”.
David smiled broadly as his ego was being stroked. He was truly proud of his accomplishment.
“Thank you so much guys, this spot means a lot to me, but the support of family gives me a greater feeling. Our social ranking is only going up from here.” David said slowly, with pride laced in his tone.
He picked up the champagne from the big table at the center of the living room. He popped the drink and everybody screamed and gave him a round of applause.
He filled the glass with the drink and raising the glass he said, “The sun will rise no matter how long the night lasts. Cheers to more life-changing deals.”
The crowd chorused with, “Cheers!”
Everyone mingled with each other. The sound of laughter, glass clinking, and spoons hitting against the plate as they ate covered the living room.
The guests came to express their joy with David Graham for his win and gave him gifts. They exchanged a few pleasantries and discussed working together in the future.
Their joy wasn't out of proportion as Emerald Estate was the crown jewel of Beryl City when it came to business and only a few people were fortunate enough to be selected to work there, let alone have a contract with them.
Sarah walked up to David to congratulate him when he saw her from afar and yelled out, “Sis! That's how you get successful in life, not that you know how it works anyway.”
He laughed so much after saying that but Sarah kept her cool as it had become normal for her to be picked on, by members of her own family.
“Congrats brother. I got you something, here” Sarah said as she handed David a little gold-colored trophy with the word “Winner” inscribed on the bottom.
She thought it was cute and would relate well with the moment and mood but boy! was she wrong
“Awww, isn't this cute? This loser knows how to appreciate winners in this life. Tut, tut, tut, I see you're trying to attract success by celebrating with me. It's alright, I'm not stingy, I can share my success with you” David said, taunting with a grin and Sarah's hands were shaking to give him a befitting slap to the face but she controlled her emotions.
“Hey everyone! Sarah gave me a trophy for coming out on top at everything in life, compared to her,” he announced and the crowd erupted into laughter.
Melissa walked up to David with Jason Miller as her arm candy.
“Congrats my love, I'm so proud of you,” Melissa said as she hugged her cousin, Sarah's stepbrother.
“We got you something,” Melissa and Jason said with smiles on their faces as they handed a small box to David.
With a rush of expectations and joy, David tore the wrapping open and saw the blue-colored leather box with a note on it that read, “To a true winner, stay at the top being number 1 always. Never settle for less.”
He looked at them and smiled from ear to ear and stated, “You know the drill”
He opened the box and saw a diamond cut ring with number one (1) on it.
He tried it on and it fit perfectly. Overjoyed, he hugged Melissa once more and shook Jason.
"I mean, you didn't have to get me this but, thank you guys so much” he squealed.
He took his phone out and made videos of the ring on his finger and posted it with the caption, “Stay number 1” where he tagged Melissa and Jason to it.
The Graham's had a habit of gifting each other on every achievement and this was no small feat. Eric and Claire had a gift for David. One they were now ready to share.
“Please can we all pay attention” the MC of the event cautioned everyone.
“Our hosts, Mr. Eric And Claire Graham have an announcement to make for their nephew, so please let's quiet down and give them our attention”. He added as he handed the microphone over to Mr. Eric.
David smiled widely as he thought of what they could give him.
“Thank you all for coming here. It truly is an honor to have this huge win in the Graham family. This is not just a win but a chance for an expansion of our business” Eric said and took a pause that welcomed a round of applause.
He continued, “Speaking of expansion, we'll be doing a little expansion for our beloved nephew. David my boy, I'm proud of all you have achieved from your days as a child till today. You've always despised losing and that hunger has pushed you to excellence. To show our support, we'll be giving you the beach house and a brand new car of your choice”.
The living room erupted into loud cheers, clapping, and standing ovations for Mr. and Mrs. Graham.
David was overjoyed as he had wanted that beach house for the longest time. He turned to Sarah who looked nonchalant and told her, “You wouldn't be so sad if you were working as hard as I do. It's not my fault you're a loser in everything you do. Try to be happy for me at least. You just might attract my success, who knows”.
He laughed as he went out to hug Eric and Claire to thank them for the gifts. Sarah left the party fuming and went up into her room.
The Emerald Estate Hall, the biggest hall in Beryl City was decorated with sparkling lights with beautiful floral arrangements adorning the elegant edifice that was a hall.Only guests with special invite cards were ever allowed entry into the hall for an event. It was an event that had the elites in Beryl City fighting their way to score invites. Most of them were bounced at the gate despite their high standing in the community.Getting an invite or access to the hall has always been a bragging rights privilege, as Government officials from neighboring cities looked forward to hosting their events there.David, Eric, Claire, Melissa, and Jason came as the Graham family and were so excited to be in the hall for the first time after they had been trying to get in for years. They didn't bring Sarah along because they deemed her unfit to be called a Graham and made jokes about what a failure she was."It is magnificent here. Take a look at the expensive art pieces that decorate the walls
They followed the guards down the stairs and their seats were shown to them.Claire and Melissa had to go to the restroom to adjust their outfits, touch up their makeup, and come out like the queens they believed themselves to be.Eric looked around from his table for Ethan, hoping to vent his anger on Ethan and put Ethan in his place but Ethan was out of sight.Eric pondered on how Ethan managed to get into a place like this.“Could he be a waiter here?”“But he wasn't dressed like the other waiters”Eric kept thinking and slipping into confusion, unaware of when Claire and Melissa joined them back at the table. David slammed his fists on the table and said, "They're all going to regret this after an official statement that I've gotten the spot has been made."The loud bang from David startled Eric and brought his attention back as he took a look into the crowd and noticed that the guests were still laughing and sharing giggles targeted at the Grahams for the embarrassment they just
The once peaceful hall was thrown into a capital of chaos. The press present had their best ratings thanks to the shamelessnes of David in his refusal to accept defeat.“Grahams on the loose” that was the headline on every news station and radio station. Graham's refusal to evacuate the Emerald Estate as instructed was met with different takes by those present.“How shameless can they be?”“They probably believed he'll win”“How sad”“I wouldn't wish even my enemy to be them right now”“I'm not leaving here until I get what's rightfully mine! Call your manager, I insist!” David's voice echoed, leaving the hall in pindrop silence.Everyone froze as if time itself had asked them to halt and watch keenly for the unfolding of these events to come. The shutter sound from cameras capturing the moment was followed by the sound of heels coming out from the door on the stage. Each step echoed and encouraged suspicion as to who this figure in a long red fitted gown, with a red shade of lipstick
Eric and Claire stared begrudgingly at David. Eric curled his fists and bit down on his lower lip to restrain himself.Eric held onto Claire as he walked hastily towards the car to hide from the cameras.Jason leaned his hands over Melissa's shoulder as he limped by her side into their car.Eric opened the front passenger door for Claire to get in. He turned to get into the car, took a pause and stared at David as David tried to get into the car with them, “Young man, where are you going? I'm not going to be riding in the same car as a disgraceful human.” Eric said coldly and spat on the floor in front of David as he got into his car and drove off speedily. The tires screeched and the smoke from the exhaust filled the air in front of David.David turned to Melissa to hug her and apologize but she stopped him with a raise of her hand as she opened the door for Jason to get in as he was still sore from the beat down he just endured. She turned to the driver's seat, stood by the door an
Sarah went over to Jack's place as they had planned to meet up with Ethan at a popular billiard hall to hang out and play some pool.Sarah knocked on Jack's door and within a few seconds, it was pulled open."You're here already?" Jack said, not expecting Sarah to be this early."Duhh" Sarah rolled her eyes at the obvious question he just asked."Let me get my keys and be right out, so we'll be on our way." Jack said as he went back inside to his key rack, got his keys, came out and locked the door as Sarah waited for him outside."Alright. Let's be on our way" Jack said as he held the door of the car open for her to get in."Took you long enough." Sarah said hopping in.In less than 15 minutes, they arrived at the same time Ethan arrived, but Ethan came with a guest."'Sup Jack. Did you see what happened to the Grahams?" Ethan couldn't hold his amusement as he bro-hugged Jack."You should've seen the look on their faces when they got home. Priceless." Sarah added in as she giggled."
The sun rays shone into Ethan's room, jolting him from his deep slumber. He dragged himself from the comfort of his bed, into the bathroom to get ready. His personal chef had already cooked up bacon and eggs with orange juice for breakfast. After breakfast, Ethan decided to take a stroll round the streets of Beryl City, to admire the beauty of the city.He never really had the time or patience to waste admiring the city when he was either running around looking for a job or trying to please his ex-wife, Melissa and her family.Taking a stroll now felt like a breath of fresh air after being choked up for a while.Whilst taking the stroll, some poor kids came around Ethan to beg for some money to buy food to eat and Ethan said to them,"There's a food truck on that side of the road, let's see what we can get to eat from there". Ethan said, holding their hands and helping them cross the road to the other side of the street where the food truck was parked.Apparently, it was one of Tasty
"I think you must be mistaken. Henry, it's me, Ethan, your ex brother-in-law."Mr whatever your name is, hold it right there. Let this be the first and the last time I warn you, we have no existing relationship and I would love it to stay that way." Henry cut Ethan off before Ethan could complete his sentence."Noted." Ethan said, staring Henry in the eye without flinching."Now that is out of the way. I'm here to see the director of this bank, we have pending business together, but these guards have refused to let me gain entry into the bank. Please send them off, so I'll dash in and out and be done with whatever business I came to sort out." Ethan said in an unfriendly yet serious tone."What's this delusion you're living in? You think you're some big shot that can just demand to see the director? And that without going through me first? What's this new joke you're pulling?" Henry said, scoffing."Well, as I already informed you, I'm here to meet with the director and I'm not leavin
Ethan took a ride in his customized Tesla as he reminisced on the past events that occured. He really missed the company of his family even though he only spent a short amount of time with them.He enjoyed hearing stories about his dad, and his days as a young child from his grandfather, Ben Watson and his mother, Brianna Watson. His memory of his sister made him teary as he didn't know where she was and what her fate was. He had ordered Tony to look out for any information on her and alert him immediately. His drive to Paradise valley was a getaway from the stress of Beryl City and to fulfill his promise to his family that he'll make up for the rushed visit of last time. He had caused enough Havoc to the Graham family, at least for now and was ready to fulfill his promise to his family by going home and being in the company of people who truly loved him.He has always loved journeying through places. Before now, it was just to see luxury in passing and to see the rich living large b
